BROKEN [0.90] TextureReplacer 2.1.2 (20.12.2014)

Recommended Posts

Alright, its ready. The first version of my Suit Pack!

J's Specialized Kerbal Suit Pack

Javascript is disabled. View full album

The EVA suits have been completely redone since the early test I showed off before, with better color stripes, more consistent colors, and a lot of small tweaks.

The pack includes 4 different colors of suit for different divisions of Kerbals: Orange (for mission commanders), Blue (for scientists and other specialists), Yellow (for flight engineers), and Grey for generic astronauts. Of course, you can make your own decisions about what the suit colors mean!

Mediafire Download

I consider these textures to be WIP still, but I am releasing them now and I am not sure when I will work on them again.

I am planning on making suits for Kerbal medics and other specialties eventually though.

Feel free to modify these textures further and release your own versions.

Credit for the original textures I based these on goes to Proot.

ok, I'll try that. I guess I was just confused by Greenskulls original file, which used the IVA name.

Edit: It still didn't work. I made sure that I was using the right KSO cockpit, not one of the alternate named ones, and set it up on the runway, but they were still spawning in their random suits.

Any other ideas?

Any traction on this issue?

I triple checked this, the entries have the correct whitespace, I've tried both IVA name and part name, still no joy. Does it matter that the suits I'm trying to use in this IVA are in the Excluded suits list?

At a guess without knowing the exact issue probably. Sorry I missed this but I'm real busy IRL.

I've found out what's wrong. KSP changes underscores in part names to dots internally. You need to write "KSO.Cabin = ...".

Nice suits but I have several "complaints"/"recommendations":

1. You have several wrong normal maps. The "grey" normals maps for EVA suits are a mistake, should be blueish. You probably took them from and old Proot's pack. In KSPRC 0.1.515, it's fixed. The other issue is that normal maps for IVA suits don't match. You changed patches on shoulders but normal maps still reflect Proot's patches.

2. Defaut/kerbalMain is the same as Orange suit, and it will only get assigned if you set "DEFAULT" suit for Jeb, Bill or Bob. I don't think there'd be much harm if you delete it.

3. There are multiple duplicated textures. All EVA suits have the same normal maps, so you can delete them from `Suits/`, they will be inherited from `Default/`. Also Blue and Yellow IVA suits have the same normal map as is there in `Default/` so you can delete their normal maps too.

4. I recommend you using TGA images for diffuse textures and PNGs for normal maps. TGAs aren't compressed twice as PNGs (first when KSP originally loads them and then again by TR when mipmaps are generated), so little better quality and a little quicker loading.

Alright, thanks!

I didn't know too much about what files were needed, so I guess I included most everything with each suit. I'll be sure to make all these changes whenever I decide to make a new version.

These were made mostly for myself, but I started getting requests to release them. This version was kinda just the result of me tinkering and figuring out what works and what doesn't (and also relearning how to use Photoshop).

You need to set the specific suits in the config file.

There should be instructions at the first page of this thread

Does anyone have any or know where I can find an 8K skybox? I have a 1440p monitor and the 4K ones I use are starting to show their resolution. I have checked all though the forums and google.

I'm working on a list of textures, and it has a column for resolution. Hope this helps!

Does anybody know where I can get the female Kerbals without lipstick on? I like the idea of female Kerbals being part of the crew, but I want them without makeup on, to look a bit more natural (or "stock").

Specifically I cannot find the link for these:

I don't want these:

In all my digging around for texture packs, I have not found a link to the lipstick-less Kerbals. I'd prefer this as well.

@pingonaut:

That image shows development version of female head texture from scart91 (I don't know if he ever participated on this forum, I contacted him on Imgur).

Here's the link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9508397/scart91.zip

The textures are CC BY.

I intended to merge them with Syllith's pack but ran out of motivation :(

If you're able to extract hairstyles into a separate layer, you're welcome to further extend Extended Sylith's pack (see OP for the link with source images) into Super-extended Sylith-scart91's pack :P

@Glyph:

There're also tons of spacesuits from Green Skull and UR's thread (see readdit).

The information on PNG v. JPEG is incorrect. I've just added texture format guide to OP.

Thanks for the info! I updated the document. I think I have Green Skull's spacesuits, assuming that he included all his old ones in the his new TextureReplacer release. I'm missing many, many UR textures from the list. So far I've only included the ones that were referenced in other threads. I don't think I will go through the UR thread as it is insanely long and most people will not be using the UR textures anyhow. I'm about 50% done with the EVE thread though, and up to date with the TextureReplacer thread (this thread, haha).

I am trying to enable eyeless head's on the default head to no effect.

Can some one tell me how to do this? sorry.

Edit : I cant get it to work at all... not even on a custom head.

If you want head texture "Heads/someHead" to be used without eyes, you should add "eyelessHeads = someHead" to GenericKerbals section. It doesn't matter if this head is also used for a custom Kerbal. The default head (Default/kerbaHead) cannot be made eyeless currently.

Hey, does this make your persists not work with the stock game?

(Example: I make a save in my TR'd KSP directory, then open it in an alternate, all-stock copy on my flash drive.)

TR doesn't affect your saved games in any way.
