The Elcano Challenge : Ground-based circumnavigation
Castille7 replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Well, I love the marine stuff I was a Marine Officer for 15 years and was planning to get involved with mods like his in the near future but it now seems that could be a longtime from now after reading this post on KerbalTopia. Maybe Squad will consider his work on their second release or hire Fengist for future work? I wish the best for his future endeavors and yes it is sad to see this. -
The Elcano Challenge : Ground-based circumnavigation
Castille7 replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I think someone needs to maintain this Challenge until we hear back from Fengist. -
I was thinking about flying my Mini Sub and I wondered if it would land on the water or on the island and then get into the water from there? I will try this soon and let you know how it goes. Also I just made another Mini Sub and before I could decouple the landing gear I noticed it was rolling down hill underwater without thrust, it's at 768m right now and heading towards the Islands. I will post a picture and send an update. Mini Sub Round Stock My mini sub flies like you said but no landing on the island, speeds to high and no landing on the water, speeds to high for that too....lol

Thank you!!

I was able to use an Advanced Grabbing Unit to grip to the Ocean Floor with a Sub Base I made, if you could do this with a Sub you might be able to reload with Ore to continue long journeys underwater but I haven't had a chance to prove this yet. If you decide to try this let me know if it works.

Thank you!!!

Sector 7 Space Laboratories Deep Sea Exploration Division - Mini Sub Squirt The Sub shocked me at first testing, my only wish was that I had used a Cockpit for Underwater views. To replicate this craft with a Cockpit is actually challenging. I will continue and hope to have another Sub similar to this one but with a Cockpit. Sorry for the poor video quality, I may post a better copy later. Craft Assembly: Probodobodyne OKTO2, Type A Nose Cone, Vernor Engines, MK1 Liquid Fuel Fuselage, Adjustable Ramp Intakes, Oscar B-Fuel Tanks, BP-X150, Standard Canards, J-33 Wheesley Flight Operations: Give some throttle before releasing the landing gear so it dosen't get stuck under the craft. The sub is not well balanced when sitting on the water at a stand still so you need to get it level with some speed, this is a little funky but it does hold steady once you are on the go. Not sure how deep the Little Squirt can go yet, give it a try if you would like to find out. Engineer's Report Parts - 53 Mass - 8.4t Height - 4.4 Width - 4.1 Lenght - 6.7 Craft File

Really creative work you've got here!..... I just made a mini sub last night and now I think it's a full size after seeing yours! ..... Love the doors on yacht and it looks so nice with scatter, I haven't install that one yet.

77 Industries: SY1 & SY2 Super Yachts
Castille7 replied to Azimech's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
This is making me want to build another boat and I just built an Aircraft Carrier! -
I've noticed that the amount of Views on the Threads are not calculating for the recent postings, is this being looked into already?

These are current projects I am working on, not all of my craft builds get shared, most of these I plan to release in the near future.

77I- Praying Mantis MSTOL cargo plane
Castille7 replied to Azimech's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yes, am I telling my age a little?....hahaha -
After seeing this craft I wanted to try out it's large cargo area with some rovers I made a while back, well one thing lead to another and I decided to make a Test Flight Video. Azimech requested some music and I added a little old rock song from a band I listened to a few years back from his side of the Atlantic. The testing was a success and most Kerbals survived the flight. Craft by: Azimech - Praying Mantis Testing by: Sector 7 Space Laboratories - Aeronautics Test Facilities

I like the first one in the first picture all the way on the left, do you have a craft name for it?
