Why aren't more books interactive? I think it's a really interesting medium that's barely been touched. I have messed around with Twine a bit, personally. edit: I wouldn't mind clouds and an art pass on the old fuel tanks (Saturn > Oil drum), otherwise, I don't have to many complaints with KSP's art.

What is the liquid fuel and oxidizer in KSP? And is it cryogenic?
klgraham1013 replied to TeeGee's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I don't know if I'd use the word "absurd" as we are using approximations of orbital mechanics and aerodynamics (soon). The simplification of fuels is fine by me, but I wouldn't fully write out a deeper look on the subject. -
The graphics debate lost all meaning when it became an argument for or against gameplay. "Graphics don't make the game." Well, no, but neither does gameplay. You need them both and it's not a sliding scale or a venn diagram. Art, sound, writing, gameplay. It's all important. KSP is certainly enjoyable as is, but, I think we can all agree that being a little bit prettier could only enhance the experience. I feel like I've seen these same arguments when I express my desire for action movies with good stories. - - - Updated - - - It's not the flashy graphics fault that the gameplay is bad.

Actual damage models would be nice. Even different textures based on damage would be fine. As with deform-able terrain, I think procedural damage isn't really in the cards. - - - Updated - - - This would also give engineers something to fix. I'm not the biggest fan of random failures, but part degradation has always intrigued me.

I very much disagree with waiting tell after 1.0 to fix the water. Think about it. What does a new player think when he imagines a pod splash down? ... I even wrote splash down with out thinking. A new player thinks a pod should land in water. It's a "safer" choice. Yet, in Kerbal, you're told it's safer to land on dirt. This isn't acceptable for the release version.

Most of your concerns have already been addressed, but since we're speaking about rovers... - ABS brakes and cruise control would make driving with a keyboard much more tolerable. Not having throttle control on movement can be a pain. - Wheels need to work at all angles. If the wheel is touching the ground, it should work just as well as if it's pointing straight down. - Can we get some small dedicated rover parts? I'm tired of building rovers "the Kerbal way."

Scott Manley showcases everything I find wrong with FAR
klgraham1013 replied to foxkill2342's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It's an odd thing. Despite the prevalence of military shooters, games like Burn Out: Paradise refrained from having a person in the drivers seat. I think Squad is taking the same stance. -

There's that little green men excuse again. Someone give me a nickel! edit: I should explain. I feel the Kerbal design is a way to alleviate the horror of massive death due to ones own failure as an engineer; to add a lightheartedness to what could be a very serious affair. If they were an example of an intended simplicity, I feel the game would have been very different from the start. -

You're making a judgement on something you've never tried nor care to try, and are predetermining it's irrelevance after an update we have only been told about thus far? -

Wow. This sounds much better than what I thought you meant. -

I believe his Interstellar Quest series, which is about to hit 100 episodes I believe (?), uses FAR. -

I agree. I let myself get carried away. It was unnecessary. The fun vs realism debate has negatively affected my posts. My apologies to worir4. -

Everything has already been said. Few if any of your complaints have anything to do with FAR. -
I've still got a zip from the 0.24 release.

How should Reaction Wheels work?
klgraham1013 replied to Supernovy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
There's a thread somewhere in the Suggestions forum. I'm sure Squad must have seen it. The first proposal was shot down, but the second seemed to be fairly accepted. I'll see if I can find it. Here you go. -
Stock fairings: Procedural or not?
klgraham1013 replied to FishInferno's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The necessity of procedural is up for debate. Though, I have recently dabbled in the procedural dark side. -
KSP 1.0 General Thread + All the new features
klgraham1013 replied to Daze's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That was shown on Squadcast. I hope ScanSat can disable it and just use the map. -
Squadcast Summary (2015-02-14) - The Valenti-nope Edition
klgraham1013 replied to BudgetHedgehog 's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm noticing a pattern with Squad and "almost, but not quite." If your keeping the bad aero, just go all the way with the good aero. Nope. I think he meant disposable. Squad again feeding into the "LoLKerbal" paradigm. I had really hoped they'd move away from clone Kerbals with this update and add some Final Frontier functionality while they were at it. They've spoken before about adding reasons to get attached to specific Kerbals (Classes and levels) , but, again, have stopped half way. Anti-information advocates continue to spout the claims about a cluttered UI, when so many mods have proven it's not the case. It had to be this, right? :sigh: Yes, I would very much like them to be indispensable (or close to). This is one of the things levels were meant to achieve. You want to use that level 5 pilot, but losing him would be a great loss to your space program. Doesn't seem to have worked out that way. LoL so Kerbal. - edit: My apologies for this. It was unnecessary and mean-spirited. -
The stages of ksp (Looking back on our favorite game.)
klgraham1013 replied to daniel l.'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
The issue is the dichotomy between the old and new parts. The old parts do resemble the thrown together look you describe, but the new parts (PorkJet, NASA) are more refined. I don't think the two styles fit together at all. I think Squad is keeping one foot in the lolKerbal past and one foot in the NASA future. All it does it make the overall aesthetic seem erratic. I prefer Saturn V over oil drum. That's just me, though. -
what kind of ksp DLC would you like?
klgraham1013 replied to Roderik's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I have no problem with worthwhile expansion packs, but, as has been said before, I feel that mods have done far more than Squad could do with DLC. I feel it'd be best for Squad to put their effort into KSP2 than on DLC for KSP1.
