Rotorcraft Suggestion - We need stock swashplates!
Curveball Anders replied to Mieszko's topic in Breaking Ground Discussion
Good, so the physics engine can keep up. I'll see if I can restore my modding environment and check what can be done. If it's doable as a mod it must be doable in stock. -
Rotorcraft Suggestion - We need stock swashplates!
Curveball Anders replied to Mieszko's topic in Breaking Ground Discussion
Is it possible within the current API to change the pitch of the blades (and have the physics engine catch it) fast enough to keep up with the RPM of the rotor? Or has there be some kind of "cheat" to make it work? -
Switch Vessel

Moderators are like middle management. They don't need to know what they are talking about since they're always right. (Unless told that they're wrong by higher ups ) -
Kerbal helmets must be inflatable. Here's why.
Curveball Anders replied to dnbattley's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You don't want to know where they store helmets and parachutes (or BG gadgets) and Squad are not allowed to explain. Remember that there are kids playing the game -
Completely Black Skybox
Curveball Anders replied to SpaceFace545's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
This is soo very true. I live in a big city and the "skybox" only shows the moon and some very bright stars (and planets). But when visiting a friend's summer house I often go out in the garden at midnight just to enjoy the brilliant sky, including the Milky way streak across it. Esp late autumn (Swedish summer doesn't really have any dark nights, you can effing read a book without artificial light... ). -
Forgot to expand PV panels. Doh!
Curveball Anders replied to bootsam's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I have a habit of always add that and some basic antenna(s) just to cover for me being old and forgetful. -
As a long time project manager for several software project I can say that you'll always get different views from Designers, Devs, QA, Marketing, Sales and other selected nutjobs. My job is to take those different views and make decisions based on all the gathered data. -- "We will call you Cygnus, the god of balance you shall be." -- Rush, Hemispheres

Completely Black Skybox
Curveball Anders replied to SpaceFace545's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I've got Stellarium installed on my nifty Asus Transformer netbook/tablet. It's perfect when out stargazing on clear nights. -
For me $60 equals to 2-3 (relaxed) evenings at the local Pub, and if KSP2 provides the replayablity of KSP1 then it's a complete steal. So I'll buy it as soon as it's launched on Linux.

Rocker Bogie-ish using rotors
Curveball Anders replied to Curveball Anders's topic in Breaking Ground Discussion
Did a rebuild with servos, limiting traverse to +/- 45, target 0, damping 1 and engine 1. Worked beautifully. Tonight I'll build a more functional and do some hi speed testing on Minmus -
What lore do you want to see?
Curveball Anders replied to Concodroid's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Personally I'd put it: I like lore question and I like coming up with my own answers. -
KAS EVA struts
Curveball Anders replied to Union Kerbide's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Don't since I've never used KIS/KAS. But you add strut stubs when building, then an engineer on EVA can pick it up and connect it to anything within reach. -
KAS EVA struts
Curveball Anders replied to Union Kerbide's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
@DMagic 's EVA Struts? It's an essential for me, strutting up spacestations. -
As a long time Lego(tm) builder I esp like a 6 or 8 wheel rover/crawler design that more or less acts like a proper Rocker-Bogie (of Mars rovers fame). It's a passive self balancing setup that keeps all wheels on the ground while keeping the body balanced. I call it Slinky because what it feels like holding a small Lego one in your hand I made a demo using freely rotating rotors. Top and side view. and in action it works like this: My problem is that I can't find any way to limit the travel of the rotors, which creates a challenge on low gravity worlds. It's very easy to leave the ground and then the rotors move freely and might (or rather will) land upside down, which is bad ... Anyone having any ideas on how to limit the rotation or add some (weak) force keep the rotors back to center when the wheels are off the ground?

my ksp closes for no reason
Curveball Anders replied to VGSP's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
You're hitting the 32 bit OS hard limit. No other option than upgrade to 64bit (it's the same license). -

No name it Orbital Construction Dock and abbreviate it as CDO to appease the French. -
Poll: Will you keep playing KSP1 after KSP2 is released?
Curveball Anders replied to EchoLima's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'll keep playing KSP 1 until KSP 2 is released (and stable) on Linux.
