This is fantastic and adorable. You definitely win the parenting award! Although I might steer clear of Mun, that's a little too close to our own... Your kid is a genius.

...Whoa. I think we're progressing into the weirdly-realistic side of things that is just awesome.

Docking Port "Hard Dock" Mode mod
amorymeltzer replied to almagnus1's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Don't quantum struts exist for this purpose? I don't regularly build anything huge but they seem to work pretty damn well for everything I've done so far. -

amorymeltzer replied to severedsolo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If you got to the front page, it suggests you use CKAN. The direct download is behind the spoiler tag, it's on github: https://github.com/severedsolo/ScanSatLite/releases -

Spotlight of Darth Vader Helmet - By Locob

+Rep just for the Richard Cheese. The world needs more Richard Cheese. -
It may not by itself be a typo, but surely if the style is to use oxidizer than oxidiser is indeed a typo, just as spelling it aluminium would be if the game-wide style was to spell it aluminum. And, FWIW, the typo exists in both the regular and short MK2 rocket fuel fuselages.

[1.4.x] Contract Pack: Tourism Plus [v1.5.2] [2016-12-14]
amorymeltzer replied to nightingale's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm pretty sure I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, apologies if it I missed something. Minor quibble, anyway Every now and then I get a mission by Kerbal Space Tourism which is not a space tourism agency. It's a little weird. Is there a way to restrict KST to only the tourism missions? I imagine it'd have to be done through ContractConfigurator, if at all; IMO the stock Kerbal World Firsts offering anything other than a Kerbal World First mission is a bug... Anyway, not a big issue, just wondering. And hey, maybe it's legit - I suppose KST might want to expand its business...- 699 replies

question about attach engines
amorymeltzer replied to Grek's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Not that I generally endorse this sort of thing, but instead of trying to attach four 1.25 decouplers, each to an engine, just have the adapter as you do and put the Rockomax decoupler under it. The engines should destroy it just fine. -
Those are answers to "How can I get money easily" whereas OP is irked by tourists being sneaky. I still say you should do 'em all, but it's not unreasonable to break 'em up. Anyway, OP, you might also want Tourism Plus contract pack - I haven't tried it but will be soon. Sounds pretty perfect.

Step 1. Accept all tourism contracts within Kerbin system. Step 2. Group by destination and fly. Step 3. Profit via tedium!

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
amorymeltzer replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Don't know if this is possible, but could the air intake options (usage, etc.) only show up if there's something that can intake air on the ship? I like having some of 'em up for planes and the like, but it's a waste of space for a straight-up rocket. -
KSP 1.0 Reviewed by Rock, Paper, Shotgun
amorymeltzer replied to Apollo13's topic in KSP1 Discussion
One thing that's been really heartening to see in all the major reviews is how pretty much everyone latched onto the idea of the Kerbals themselves being integral to the success of the game. I don't think it's too far to say that those little green idiots are responsible for a lot of the culture behind KSP. Squad really hit it out the part with them. -
Mission-Based Naming - Anything Like This Out There?
amorymeltzer replied to Beale's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
There was a mod that did just that, called Champagne Bottle. I loved it! It's been out of date for a while, but the source is available... -
Do you run missions in serial or more than one at a time?
amorymeltzer replied to Invader Jim's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Once I get the tech tree mostly done, I'll usually have between 5 and 10 at a time. Kerbal Alarm Clock is obviously required for this sort of thing, but I like running a lot of stuff at once. I'm a bit of a completionist, and I like having crews maxed at experience, so there's always plenty to do! Not always transit times, I'll usually have two or three to the Mun or Minmus at once. Plus, every planet and moon needs scanning and at least one station... -
Help with calculating delta v and twr
amorymeltzer replied to Screeno's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can also just use KER in the VAB/SPH to get the initial numbers right, then fly stock. I don't use KER (or MechJeb) in flight until I've "earned it", but I figure it's safe beforehand to figure out numbers, especially the stage-by-stage stuff.
