  1. Holy run on sentences batman! Seriously, not to totally pick on you, but I always wonder if people go back and re-read what they wrote to see if it actually was readable. So not to nitpick, but I had to throw a few things out. First off I would actually agree with some things Kethane. It was my first resource mod and i remember it fondly. I did like the hex grid layout and scanning. What I didn't like was the fact that I had to be focused on the ship. What I preferred to do with Karbonite (which should come back once scansat is updated) is get my satellites scanning around several bodies in the background while flying something else. Also, regarding stock, everyone keeps harping on the instant orbital scan, which is only one part of the process, and only gives you a basic "is it there" result. In order to really know an appropriate location you really need to actually like, LAND and take a sample. Actually this becomes more time and work than Kethane. Honestly I have found it to be a fun and different challenge. With Kethane I just need to send out a scanning satellite. Pretty much the same satellite works for every body in the game. But when I have to ground truth, I then have to develop a landing system that doesn't just work everywhere, depending on gravity/atmo/# biomes etc. The bottom line is that everyone can use what they find suits them best (yay mods). I just wanted to clarify what seems to be the perpetuation of somewhat misleading and incomplete information.
  2. Likely installation issue. Screenshot of your gamedata folder?
  3. HAHA, I will concede as well.
  4. Yes, athough that point is moot, since it didn't get put in at the beginning. At this point (which was my point) it makes more sense to at least get the core game stable, both crash stable and feature stable, before trying to add MP. Yes, and if you ever used or followed that mod you would know it is far from perfect, or stable. It has lots of compatibility issues with other mods. It has issues every time KSP has been updated/changed etc. For better or worse, you can get away with the limitations of the mod, but for squad to release an official MP it will have to play nice with third party mods etc. The main point still being that MP will be a challenge best suited for after they get 1.0 nice and stable.
  5. Maybe that's why they are the developers and you aren't? Honestly have you given any real thought of the intricacies of adding multiplayer to KSP? Do you really think it would have been easier to have MP while still adding and changing stock features? If they had they would need to test all those feature changes against SP and MP every time. It would be way easier to make a functional MP once the core of the game is pretty much feature complete and stable.
  6. If you think that was bad, don't look at your CRP thread... It seems to me you are misunderstanding the role of CRP. I'd suggest you read its OP again, carefully. The only resource added here is mulch. Mulch is not a planetary resource, it is a manufactured resource. CRP exists to handle planetary resources only.
  7. Maybe you should take a few seconds and read back just a little. Like literally one page.
  8. If I had to guess kospy has been focusing on getting the mod working with 1.0 first. There are plenty of other mods who plan on converting textures but wanted to get the mods playable first
  9. Yes. As with most mods it will need some updating before it works with the new version of KSP.
  10. Um yea sorry it kind of did. I would counter with "hey man, if you don't want the hate, write what you mean rather than assume we can read minds". I would agree with something constructive, like Squad having some sort of modding program whereby modders could get maybe a final beta ahead of time to get their mods ready before release. But your OP had none of that constructive talk and read like someone just complaining that modders didn't have their mods updated fast enough.
  11. Sheesh. It's been only a couple days since 1.0 was released. And there were tons of changes. After .9 was released some mods too weeks to update and stabilize. Be moar patient.
  12. ah so I will still need to wait for KAS to update for my pipe functionality etc?
  13. Hey rover. One question now that kospy has updated KIS. What is the status of KIS compatibility with the USI constellation. Mostly I'm thinking here with the packrat (I LOVE my pack able rover). MKS base module storage and tubes?
  14. my main question is parts. Have all the parts been migrated to KIS? Especially items such as pipe end points and winches?
  15. Dr. Jet you certainly are a piece of work. My favorite is this gem I'm frankly amazed you even play a game about little green me who apparently don't need to eat, drink, breath, sleep, or take a s**t and build their rockets like legos that can easily get them to all areas of their local solar system.
  16. You should probably then read and respond to my post #83 above as it is the most relevant. In essence you are picking on just one of the pieces to the scanning puzzle. As I said above, akin to taking a quote out of context. When viewing the entire process as a whole the first part instant scan really becomes a minor portion of the work needed. You may still not like it (your prerogative) but it really becomes a minor nitpick as part of the whole.
  17. Just out of curiosity but why ask this here. The science lab is a stock part that has nothing to do with FTT. The changelog states - The Science Lab has been retooled to run long-term research on experiment data, providing much higher amounts of science over time.
  18. I think everyone gets the point. The main issue is in the reverse. You are harping on the instant high level, low accuracy scan, which is frankly one small part of the entire process. It is akin to taking a quote out of context. When taken as a whole, the stock resource system is actually more complex than say Kethane. With Kethane, yes I must build a probe with the proper power requirements, go into a polar orbit and scan. But once I have done that I am done. With stock, I need to build a probe that can first get a high level scan (which is instant yes) but this basically lets me know if ore is present. Now I still go into a polar orbit, because that makes it easier to get my ground probes to the various biomes. So no I don't need to build a probe that has the power requirements to scan from orbit. But I do need to make a probe that can land and do ground scans of any or all biomes I might want to get more detail on. This could be a multi biome hopping probe. A probe with multiple mini ground probes. A probe with mini muli biome hopping probes. So many design choices! Once I'm done with that I still can use the narrow band scanner to get an ever better idea of the ultimate landing spot. Honestly I hadn't really even noticed the first step was an instant scan, because I was already gearing up for the follow up steps. The benefit here being that those steps are very active. Picking and landing probes etc rather than just put in orbit and wait for scan to complete. You may still not like the instant aspect of the first step. But in all honesty when taken as a whole, it is a pretty minor aspect either way.
  19. And it's a fairly big downside, especially if you are playing a game where you are trying to juggle mutliple launches and so forth multitasking your space missions. hmm finger hit enter while typing. edit to continue. And some of the Kethane Fanboi comes out. Maybe for one Kethane's author has been AWOL for 6+months. Additionally while Kethane is nice (I wouldn't call it the best) it is pretty closed. Roverdude, not only created Karbonite, but more importantly Regolith, which is a very open and highly moddable general resource engine. My guess in some ways is that Squad kept the stock resource system fairly simple, but built it to be very open to being moddable specifically so stock players looking for something relatively easy to use and understand while allowing the underlying engine to feed more advanced mods.
  20. And if Kethane ever had background scanning I maybe would have stuck with it, but having to spend all that time scanning while also having to be focused on that planet was just really bad
  21. I would have to echo the sentiment. I just tried again. I used a truss and made it the root. My engine fell off properly (yay). I went light in my opinion. 1 battery, 1 avionics, 2 experiments. 2 vertically on each side of the truss for balance. Came down at ~7m/s and both items at the bottom of the truss exploded. Lost one experiment and the battery. I also tried the larger sounding rocket after unlocking it. Parachute seems a little glitchy. I was falling straight down
  22. Agree 1000%. KAS/KIS gives immense fun purpose to EVA
