Split screen for maneuver node planning
THX1138 replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Thanks very much for the suggestion; I'll look into it. I'm already in the process of adding my third mod. I'm really uncomfortable adding mods because the stock game is buggy enough (easily the most buggy software I've repeatedly used) and I'm afraid of adding more complexity in finding what is responsible each time! -
[1.8.x] DMagic's Modlets - Most KSP 1.8 Updates [10-29-2019]
THX1138 replied to DMagic's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Do I install this by placing all the files into the currently empty \Kerbal Space Program\Parts folder? Edit: Nevermind; I'm pretty sure it goes in the GameData folder like most other mods. -
[1.12.x] Kerbal Alarm Clock v3.13.0.0 (April 10)
THX1138 replied to TriggerAu's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think I'm experiencing a bug related to Kerbal Alarm Clock 3.7.0.0 In the screenshot you can see disparity between the time until periapsis and the time until the maneuver node. You also see that the fast forward arrows from the maneuver node are some distance along the blue orbit line. I vaguely remember that this was a bug Kerbal Alarm Clock had a long time ago. -
This is probably a big ask but a problem I frequently face is wanting to be able to see a zoomed in and zoomed out map view simultaneously so I can see the effect of moving my maneuver node around LKO on my final orbit around Sol. Currently I have to flip between zoomed in and zoomed out and it's quite inefficient.

I fantasise about doing that with a friend's faster PC

[1.12.x] IndicatorLights v1.8.3: Small, convenient, informative.
THX1138 replied to Snark's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Are these retroactively added to previously-launched craft when the mod is installed or only newly-launched? Edit: Answer is that they are added to previously-launched craft. -
I'd prefer if subject titles were more specific; I'd have not bothered to read this if I knew what it contained.

How many instances of KSP do you run simultaneously?
THX1138 replied to kBob's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh my gosh! My POS computer barely manages one instance; what hardware do you have? How old is that hardware? -
Worst thread I've ever participated in! 3/10

I think it should go further than that - I don't see any reason why the action groups shouldn't be completely re-configurable post-launch. I have many craft in use that were launched before I found out what action groups meant. Hey, I can help you with that. When that happens, press Alt + F12 and then "Show Input Lock Stack" and then "Clear Input Lock Stack". It's a long-standing bug and that's the work around for it.

[1.8.x] DMagic's Modlets - Most KSP 1.8 Updates [10-29-2019]
THX1138 replied to DMagic's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know whether name parts changing is something that happened to stock in the past? I'm certain that some of my vessels disappeared as a result of one of the KSP updates (my only mod to date is Kerbal Alarm Clock). Destroying ships seems such a drastic response to the problem! -
[1.8.x] DMagic's Modlets - Most KSP 1.8 Updates [10-29-2019]
THX1138 replied to DMagic's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm a modding noob. What would happen if the mod changed? Would I not be able to simply swap the old part for the updated part on any craft I have in use? I guess I should wait for it to be tested a bit more. Thanks anyway; this part is way overdue IMO! -
It can be hard to find the vessel I want to take control of especially when all the overlapping grey markers and orbits are difficult to distinguish. If they were coloured, maybe I'd be able to remember that I'm interested in the blue and orange ones etc. I do try giving them appropriate symbols but that only helps some of the time.

You must discover planets and moons
THX1138 replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think most of the solar system should already be known since humanity was able to view them long before they started space programs. I think that some of the moons or an outer planet should be discoverable. -
I used http://ksp.olex.biz/ to determine when to transfer to Moho. To me, the planets look about in the right positions but according to the game I'll be arrive too late. Does it not look about correct to you? Edit: also, that website gives only one window but I'm thinking that there should be multiple valid phase angles. Am I right?

You can easily disable updating of any individual game or all games in your library.
-
They're very pretty but it would be cool if I could get something out of them, like science points or something else decorative. Maybe I should start a pile at the KSC for later use when the desired functionality is added

Squid is not a "scold word". I've never heard it used as an insult.

Do they do anything?

Weird Space Center Camera bug
THX1138 replied to lyndonguitar's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I'm also affected by this bug. -
Hey, that's a known bug. Apparently it's been known for a very long time. For me it happens if you Alt-Tab out of the game whilst loading a save game. You can Alt-Tab at any other time than that. Please complain in this thread to help it get the attention it deserves!
-
Do you often spend time Alt-Tabbed out of the game while fuel transfers or waiting for several orbits to complete at maximum time warp etc? I mask it by browsing this forum or Reddit but it's still a little annoying.

I think that the wayward nature of struts is already known to Squad but I'm wanting to know whether the flaw lies in the craft file so its permanent and will only be fixed by hyperediting a fixed craft or whether the struts will return to the position they were in the VAB when the bug is fixed. The screenshot below shows an example. The struts are meant to be symmetrically placed but one of them had wound up attached to the ISRU in a way that isn't even possible to do in the VAB.
