I also can't get Imgur albums to appear correctly. I'm using Firefox 54.0.1 on Windows 7 x64. If I enter the 5 figure code using the "I" button I get this. If I post the full link I get this.

[1.2.2] Space 1999 Eagle Transporter 3 Pack v1.03
purpleivan replied to MajorTom69's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm usually a strictly stock guy where parts are concerned (although strangely I'm thinking of making some) but when I saw the pics that Red Shirt posted I knew I had to give this one a go. -
I think that the difficulty level of KSP is pretty much perfect. I know that some purists would prefer it to be more realistic and punishing to the player, but if it had been significantly less accessible to a typical player, then the game would not have had anything like the success that it has and mostly likely development of it would have ceased years ago. KSP isn't easy; there are plenty of players that never get beyond Kerbin orbit, let alone doing an Eve return mission or doing the Jool 5. For those that want a harder game there are plenty of mods to adjust it to their hearts content. Sure for people that "get it" the game can feel very easy (slap something together in the VAB and head off to Eeloo as if you're taking the bus into town) but that is with the benefit of either a strong knowledge of the principles of space flight, or the experience of playing the game. Fundamentally KSP is a game, not an education tool.

Do you have a screenshot that makes you laugh every time?

A couple of "on set" accidents that occurred in the making of 2010: The Year We Make Kontakt Dr Heywood Keman suffering a little "out of phase" incident on the flight deck of the Diskovery. No technobabble involved in this little disaster, just shoddy workmanship in the construction of the set of the Diskovery's pod bay. -
Any planet ground improvement texture and skybox mods?
purpleivan replied to Raxor30's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
This is the one I've used for quite a while. Good if you're looking for something fairly realistic. Here are some other sources. -
Layers... lots of layers. Basically I stitched together various photos and did some airbrushing work on top of that, then a bunch of colour adjustments to get everything to match up, plus more airbrushing on the plane for lighting improvements and to create the jet exhaust. Talking of playing around with photos, I started a new thread yesterday called The Tinfoil Times that will be featuring some ISS images with little kerbal shaped intruders making their presence known. Here's the first image I posted. It's a follow up to my "The Truth Can Now Be Told" thread that did the same but with Apollo images. The new thread will make use of some of the many, many pretty NEO images of the International Space Station.

Well they havn't caught me yet and the guy with the secret space pics sent me another. He said to keep it to myself cos he didn't know how long till he could come up with another one... I guess it takes a long time for the space station to fly back over his house... must be really slow. I'm not gonna keep the truth to myself tho, people need to see we aint alone. Peace Peeps! Do you validate parking?

I guess I'm at 5.x I've put in some 2000-3000 hours since I started playing 3 years ago. I'm not certain how many as I stopped launching through steam about 18 months ago and I had 1563 hours racked up by then. I've landed and returned from every solid body many times, flown a couple of spaceplanes (I'm a rocketer not a bird) and entered a bunch of competitions, even started a few. "Other games don't exist for you" - check... well KSP hasn't stopped me from buying other games, just playing them. I bought the most recent Doom game and haven't played it yet when it was in the Steam summer sale... last year's summer sale that is. Same goes for several other games. "Mod players just won't play now without their favorites." - Check... I recently realised that Planetshine doesn't seem to work on EVAing kerbals any more (it used to) which is disturbing me more than it probably should, as my little adventurers just don't look properly dressed without it. The only part I didn't recognise in my play is the "Chuch of Manley" as I didn't watch his videos when I start playing the game, then after that I just never got around to it.

The Tinfoil Times Everyone knows that you can't trust those "original" pictures that show how we spend literally thousands of dollars every year putting people in space just to grow crystals and stuffs. I mean they've gotta be doin other things! There's this guy I know, well he's a friend of a friend... of a friend, who has this special radio and a cool lookin antenna, well it's an umbrella covered in chewing gum wrappers and wire coat hanger sticking out the middle. Anyway... he says he has these secret pictures from space cos his uncle used to be an astronut or sumthin and he gave him all the top secret codes so he could listen in and get the real pictures. He got this one the other day... says he had to "fill in some missing data" I dunno... it was too technical for me. Can someone say interstellar romance If he gives me any more I'll post em here... if they don't catch me first

What is the strangest bug you have found?
purpleivan replied to MiffedStarfish's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've had few freaky ones, two of them happening on the runway island, but I think the strangest was this. I'd built a huge set on wheels for my kerbal style 2001: A Space Odyssey story to allow me to take a couple of screenshots that I needed. In the "vehicle" were a group of kerbals that I was using the EVA Follow plugin to move around more easily. At some point the whole set/vehicle started shaking and jumping around and the kerbals started falling through the thing onto the ground below. Ok, so far so normal as bugs go, but then one of the kerbals (the one I had set at the controlling one for EVA Follow) took off at a run towards the KSC, followed by the other kerbals, eventually arriving at R&D buildings and continued through some of the alleyways there. -
I've got a question... is planetshine expected to affect kerbals on EVA. I could have sworn that it did in the past, but doesn't in 1.3 (I'm using Planetshine version 0.2.5.2). As you can see here the blue of Kerbin can be seen on the capsule, but not Jeb's suit. I took a look at my old 1.2 build and no apparent planetshine on kerbals there either. So I don't know if it's just my memory playing tricks on me and planetshine has never applied to kerbals on EVA, or if it's something that broke at some point in the past. I just took a look through some of my older screenshots and it does look like at some point in the past, planetshine lighting did get applied to EVA'ing kerbals. This screenshot was taken 9th April 2016, so it's back in the days of KSP v1.05

Thanks for that.

Has the location for the skybox textures (Galaxy_Tex_xxxxx) been changes with TR becoming TRR? I copied over the six PNG's for the skybox to the TextureReplacerReplaced\Default folder but I get the stock skybox instead of the one I'd expect to see. Thanks to those involved in getting this updated to 1.3

Here's my take on Abraxsas' image. I'm going to be very busy with work over the next few months, so I'll have to stop taking any requests for wallpaper images for a while.

In some challenges where mass or cost was a factor, I've left RCS off of my vehicle, and that vehicle has been small (say a 1 man capsule, small fuel tank and engine). Except for that I'd always use RCS... I mean why not.

What features in a DLC would you happily pay for?
purpleivan replied to Rocket Farmer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
One question I would like to ask of those that are opposing any form of paid DLC, is how should the developer pay for future development of the game? As the PC version was first released a long time ago and the console versions weren't exactly released yesterday, KSP is going to be well past its peak in terms of sales to new players, which means that new sales as a source of income will be drying up. Without a new revenue stream (such as paid DLC) eventually all development of KSP would simply stop. To afford to pay for future development of the game, the developer needs to sell something new, such as either ceasing all major development of KSP 1.x and moving onto a new game, KSP 2.0 (which players would have to pay to play), or paid DLC (which players would have to pay to play). As many have said before, this is the reality of economics... development costs money and it has to come from somewhere. It's not that I am enthusiastic about paid DLC, I simply understand the inevitability of it (or something else to pay the bills) due to real world economics. The kind of economics that allows programmers to pay for little things like housing and artists to pay for transportation, not to mention all the producers, testers, audio people and managers paying for groceries. -

I don't understand your argument. Are you saying that the developer of a game that will have cost you less than any typical AAA title and has given you at least 20 times the playing time of such games, should provide all additional content free of charge. If this was a game that you breezed through all the possibilities of in 10 hours, I could see your point, but after 1,500 hours, don't you think that the developer has earned the right to charge for some new content. -

purpleivan replied to Rocket Farmer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What I would look for in DLC would be; More planets - probably as a separate solar system accessed through a portal of some kind, probably one that orbits one of the existing planets. The reason for this choice is that it would be an addition to, rather than an alteration of the existing solar system. Adding to the "world map" is common in DLC and in the case of KSP would provide new territory to explore for those who feel that they still want to play the game, but haven't the motivation to, as they've been to all the planets multiple times in multiple ways. More Easter Eggs - having many more of these scattered throughout the current system would provide more motivation to visit and explore the current set of planets, although they would have to be new ones, not just extra arches and monoliths. More launch sites - tired of the same old view from KSC, then launch from another location (if only Kerbin had an extinct volcano) Extension to the KSC facilities - this would probably be purely visual fluff, but lots of people are happy to pay for that in games. More buildings, humorous items, a rover test track etc. New parts classes - I'm not sure if DLC should add just a few isolated parts, I'd be happier is these came as extensions to the stock game. Ideally DLC parts would come as whole new classes, or at least a major new section to a class. One examples would be a larger set of tanks and engines, probably 5 or 6 metres, to aid the creation of mammoth vehicles, without needing so many parts in the lower stages. Another would be a set of decorative parts added to the game (more lights, big sci-fi style engine cowlings, a much wider variety of structural panels, including versions of the current ones, but in different styles/materials. Perhaps a set of inline parachute parts would be good too. If we were to have isolated parts added to the game, then the one I'd want the most is a bigger landing leg. -
A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
purpleivan replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
Well to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld you could have "unexpected unexpecteds", i.e the unleashing of the randomness of the universe on a well liked character is fine, as long as it is "random" and not just an "act of author" event. What I mean it is, if you're going to off a character, make it feel random and not just following the trope. As always at this time... wine fueled, so treat with caution -

I'd like to request that this thread I posted in Mission Reports be moved to Fan Works. Thanks. -
A couple of images from my 2001: Absurdity Calls thread.

As I've just finished it, I'd like to suggest my 2010: The Year We Make Kontakt story. I also remembered something I made quite a while ago, that started as a fairly dry but fictional write up of my early days of playing KSP, which as it progressed became much more fiction than fact. I posted it in mission reports, but with the direction it took, I should have put it it Fan Works instead. A Tale or Many Burns. Silly question given how long I've been on the forums, but what's the protocol for having a thread moved?
