[1.2.2 / 1.3] Career Evolution Contract Pack
purpleivan replied to pap1723's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've re-flown the mission, returning science from the surface and I can confirm that you're right about the issue being the return of science from space around mun (incorrect) instead of from the surface (correct) being the issue. Cheers. -
[1.2.2 / 1.3] Career Evolution Contract Pack
purpleivan replied to pap1723's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Weird... this is actually the second time I've attempted to complete the contract. The first time I made the assumption with it being a "sample return" that it was actually science from the surface that was needed to be returned to Kerbin to complete the contract, which I did, but the contract failed to complete.... so I sent the vehicle shown in the pics. I guess the first time round I made an error somewhere and failed to complete the contract for a different reason. I'll have another crack at it, this time returning science taken from the Mun surface. Thanks for the help with this. -
[1.2.2 / 1.3] Career Evolution Contract Pack
purpleivan replied to pap1723's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I brought back just the probe core on a chute (as in what made it back to the surface of Kerbin). The probe core contained the science (temp reading) from the space around Mun as shown in the third image. -
[1.2.2 / 1.3] Career Evolution Contract Pack
purpleivan replied to pap1723's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Posted this in the Beta thread yesterday before I realising it should have gone here. I recently started playing a career game using this mod and I have a problem with a contract to return science from the Mun to Kerbin. Here are a couple of screenshots to help explain the issue. In the first one taken while my vehicle is on the surface, I have a green tick against "Situation Landed". However when I lift off to return the science to Kerbin (the second image) the green tick is removed. My question is does the "Situation Landed" tick box get ticked against once I am landed back on Kerbin... feeling like this is a stupid question, but I thought I'd check before heading back to Kerbin. I have an update... I decided to return the sample vehicle to Kerbin and the result was that the contract was not completed. I'm now at a loss as to what is required to satisfy this contract, so any help would be appreciated. -
Where can you see detailed Orbital Angles/info?
purpleivan replied to JStevenson's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
For the first couple of year playing the game I did this. In my case my protractor was an image I put together of a circle with segment lines from its center to edge every 10 degrees. I 'd place the print of it on the map view, center it on the planet I was orbiting, then place a manoeuvre node at the desired angle. Fortunately the paper was thin enough that I could see the orbit curve and some other details through it. Now though I use the angle display in the Transfer Window Planner mod.- 19 replies

For some reason I'm hearing the name of this thread as a game show audience, shouting out the shows' name along with horrible but catchy game show music. "What's... in... the... fairing..... whoooooo!"

I had a request for a kerbal remake of a shot from one of the Space 1999 episodes and came up with this, complete with 70's beige haze.

Make a large ham, cheese and pickle sandwich then sacrifice it to the Kracken by ritually slicing it in half then devouring it. Followed by re-launching KSP. Go with the Kraken my kerbling.

My latest wallpaper image... all credit to the eagle model to MajorTom69.

When I took MajorTom69 Space 1999 Eagle for a spin I ended up taking a few snapshots along the way, one of which was the basis for this image.

I think you're supposed to launch it from under the water into the sky, not the other way around

What mod features have been incorporated into stock?
purpleivan replied to bitmapmedivh's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Interesting question and welcome to the forum. -
Brought Jeb and Dotty in their Space 1999 Eagle back to the KSC after their trip to Mun. Landing it was more than a bit tricky until I realised that there was RCS on-board, after which a safe, if not soft landing was made.

[1.2.2] Space 1999 Eagle Transporter 3 Pack v1.03
purpleivan replied to MajorTom69's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I decided that leaving Jeb and copilot Dotty stranded in Kerbin orbit wasn't an option, so I attempted to bring them in to the KSC. The re-entry went fine and I was able to get them within a few hundred metres of the center without much hassle, although there was a lot of burn, followed by tumble, then burn again action required to do that. Then there was the matter of landing the fine craft, which at first was an impossible mess of slow rolls and crashing into the ground followed by an impressive explosion, followed by F9... it wouldn't have look out of place in the intro to the show. Then I thought "maybe this thing has RCS" and oh yes it did, nice powerful RCS too, that enable me to make a safe, if not totally smooth landing once I'd turned it on. A few pics of Jeb and Dotty's adventures in landing. KSC dead ahead. Looking good. Looking not so good. Made it. -
Took the Space 1999 Eagle from MajorTom69 for a spin.

Thanks.

I took the Space 1999 Eagle from MajorTom69 for a spin. That's not a good start. Better. Now where should we go. On the surface (I feel a new wallpaper image coming on. Heading for home. Back in Kerbin orbit... now how do I land this thing.

I also can't get Imgur albums to appear correctly. I'm using Firefox 54.0.1 on Windows 7 x64. If I enter the 5 figure code using the "I" button I get this. If I post the full link I get this.

[1.2.2] Space 1999 Eagle Transporter 3 Pack v1.03
purpleivan replied to MajorTom69's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm usually a strictly stock guy where parts are concerned (although strangely I'm thinking of making some) but when I saw the pics that Red Shirt posted I knew I had to give this one a go. -
I think that the difficulty level of KSP is pretty much perfect. I know that some purists would prefer it to be more realistic and punishing to the player, but if it had been significantly less accessible to a typical player, then the game would not have had anything like the success that it has and mostly likely development of it would have ceased years ago. KSP isn't easy; there are plenty of players that never get beyond Kerbin orbit, let alone doing an Eve return mission or doing the Jool 5. For those that want a harder game there are plenty of mods to adjust it to their hearts content. Sure for people that "get it" the game can feel very easy (slap something together in the VAB and head off to Eeloo as if you're taking the bus into town) but that is with the benefit of either a strong knowledge of the principles of space flight, or the experience of playing the game. Fundamentally KSP is a game, not an education tool.
