Hey guys, I've got the new tip video up thank's all for the suggestions!

How do you stop a rover?
nhnifong replied to Talonsin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That's very clever. I'll have to try that. -
Simply waiting for daylight in KSP and filming with the sun behind you should be all you need.

The distribution of ages for people who respond "yes" to "do you have enough free time" would probably be similar. Also, as they say, How hard can rocket science be anyways?!

How do you stop a rover?

It's an excessively strong brake though. If you just engage it at a regular speed your rover will flip over. -
Rearden holy crap that picture of Jool's clouds looks good!

The Eve Circumnavigation Challenge
nhnifong replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@Dirt_Merchant and @Rottielover Have you determined it's cruising range yet? I've got a really long stretch that's probably beyond the range of my craft. The only kethane deposit around is in the middle of an ocean. I've tried making a floating runway with a submersible drill, but I couldn't do it in less than 100 tons, and even 50 is too much to put in orbit. And even then, I can't keep the thing from falling apart under it's own weight when the chutes kick in. Perhaps it's overkill. Other options include aerial re-fueling, and seaplane landing capability, with a submersible drill accessory which can be brought along that leg of the trip... -
Very cool craft! I'm amazed you got that balanced. I hate to say this though, but your video is almost completely dark 90% of the time and I can't see what's going on. Looking forward to actually seeing the Mosquito in action.

I've got a draft of the script written for the rapid fire tip video! Just tweaking my jokes trying to collect more tips (currently have 24 because I had to remove duplicates and some that didn't really fit) I'm going to cover all the uncommon controls as well and have a quick piece of video for each If anyone has more tips or even just some funny facts about KSP, feel free to leave a post The Kraken, slain by the mythical god Harv back in the year 17... Ne'er a kerbal hasn't wished to head butt it while it was still alive!

That's their primary defense mechanism. When threated by larger creatures, they head butt their foe!

The Eve Circumnavigation Challenge
nhnifong replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Consider hiring FONG INC., Experienced Contractor in the field of experimental spacecraft! Provide a Dart prototype, and I'll design you a Magic Smoke work cart that can transfer drop tanks from pallets delivered to eve, and install them under the wing of your plane. All I want as payment is the right to use your technology in my own circumnavigation challenge. -
I'm going to turn this into a rapid-fire instructional KSP video: 100 things you didn't know about KSP in five minutes or something like that

The Eve Circumnavigation Challenge
nhnifong replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So rottie, Do you intend to drop the drop tanks (and the bass XD) as you go, and then pick up more drop tanks at the resupply points? Do you plan on re-attaching them with KAS or with docking ports? -
[0.21] Hooligan Labs - Airship, Submarines and More
nhnifong replied to Hooligan Labs's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think you should just bundle the airships and subs into one mod now that the sub code is kinda stable. They play well together. Also, consider making some other hollow-looking stock parts have buoyancy. not 'controllable' boyancy, just buoyancy, like the pods. Perhaps empty fuel tanks should become buoyant, because right now, it's still hard to make anything (with a submersible part) float without a ton of controllable submarine parts, which strictly shouldn't be necessary for a floating craft. -
The Eve Circumnavigation Challenge
nhnifong replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm completing this with TAC life support just for kicks. My plane is in place, I have four kethane drills and life support resupply stations around Eve's equator, and a kethane jet and eve ascender waiting at the start/finish point. Now I'm going through final testing of my 3 man interplanetary habitat. One kerbal will stay in orbit, one will stay on the surface at the start/finish point, and one will begin testing the kethane plane by flying it at comfortable cruise altitude on Eve to extrapolate it's range. Extra resupply stations will be placed if needed, or a new plane may need to be delivered with extended range. This is intended to be a safe, no kerbals killed mission! -
I'm not a bad apple, just a sour one.

[request] Need a VTOL to rescue Jeb
nhnifong replied to nhnifong's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Awesome! Jeb is back at KSC! the Stratos had just the right amount of fuel and kept the life support systems and the lights running for the entire mission (which stretched into the night) What a perfect craft for the mission. Thanks Cupcake! This is landed at KSC -

[request] Need a VTOL to rescue Jeb
nhnifong replied to nhnifong's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I've crashed about 20 of my own ships over there, so there's plenty of fully stocked pods of snacks and beer for Jeb to live on for a while. It's really hard to land anything on those slopes. As soon as you touch down, it rotates your craft downhill, pointing your engine against the slope and immediately giving you a bunch of lateral speed, resulting in a crash. However, if you cut your engine as soon as the uphill gear hits the ground, then your downhill gear falls 2 meters and slams into the ground, resulting in a crash. I just can't land here. I admit, I didn't read the manual for your Ox, but I did alright. I just don't know what all the fancy docking ports are for. Giving the stratos a try now. -
