I'm working off your Github. Is firmament still a thing? Like the ground stuff. In the image in the OP. I've never really used KAS or KISbut when i wanted to try it years ago i couldnt get it to work. Foundations eh? Wish I'd kjow about this. Are theg like the diamond clamps that Taniwha made also forever ago? Or is it a part that kind of claws the ground? Good question. No. CRP as the alternative. I think you need CRP for EL to work i think. B9partswitch hives a hissy if resources are missing

[1.12.5] SIMPLEX Assembly 1.6 and SIMPLEX Assembly Plus 1.5.1
theJesuit replied to theJesuit's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks! It would seem that the formulas for build ratios are difficult to piece together for a catchall formula between Extraplanetary Launchpads and Sandcastle. But nevermind! With SIMPLEX Resources, the EL formulas are made so that everything requires MetalParts, but I create a ratio with CustomParts when a PartModule is installed (as specified, so variant textures are included as an example, but the Command module is, rcsFX, engine etc.). The more complicated a part, the higher the number of PartModules in its cfg, the more CustomParts you need. But this is with SIMPLEX Resources, and has nothing to do with this mod, expect I'll add that functionality in if you are using this mod with the community resource pack, but instead using MaterialKits and Specialised Parts. I'll be supporting EL as well in the next update, the part volumes may wait a little. With this mod, when both Keridian Dynamics and EL are installed, EL parts (which don't look that great TBH), will be hidden as the KD parts look so much nicer and there is no point in doubling up. With Sandcastle I will also be including support for Keridian Dynamics, which are some great parts - basically what I've been using my own 'parts' for. Peace. -
There will be an update to this sometime this week, probably in conjunction with updates for TETRIX TechTree and SIMPLEX Assembly. Mainly in celebration of Extraplanetary Launchpads compatibility with 1.12.2 I'm going to increase the mass of the CustomParts to match the Metal Parts. This is to help make sense of the Sandcastle requirements and ratios The Keridian Dynamics B9 tanks will get an update, to match the LFO ratios with Simplex Resources and remove the Consumables and Organic Slurry. I'm thinking of also adding in CryoFuels so that these will act as the holding tanks to fuel your CyroFuel rockets that you build off world. The KD Furnaces and KD-Chemical-Reactor, Extraplanetary Launchpads Smelters will produce MetalParts. A TETRIX update will put them smallest to largest in Tiers 6, 7 and 8. Construction off world with Sandcastle and EL effectively begins at Tier 6. But manipulation of parts and ground anchor is tier 4.

[1.12.5] TechTrees: QUARTIX 3.10, TETRIX 2.26, SIMPLEX 1.36

hitchhiker is called crewCabin in the config names. Anywho, a TETRIX update soon will be updating the Extraplanetary Launchpads configs, and the Keridian Dynamics parts that go with them. Smelters, Furnaces and as will put them smallest to largest in Tiers 6, 7 and 8. Construction off world with Sandcastle and EL effectively begins at Tier 6. But manipulation of parts and ground anchor is tier 4. The HADD airlocks will get included, as will the Exoskeleton mod for EVA manipulation of heavier objects. A small tweak will mean that microGeeFabrication (Tier 8 Construction) will also have a parent node of experimentalEngineering. -
@zer0Kerbal, any chance that you might release your latest version or is it somewhere other than your github? I'm working on getting it compatible with Sandcastle and my own configs for SIMPLEX Resources, for the conversion with NaturalOre -> MetalParts, RareOre -> Custom Parts, and a ratio of MetalParts and CustomParts for constructing rockets. MetalParts made in furnaces, CustomParts made in the fabricator. With SIMPLEX Assembly, I'm going to knock out the EPL parts as all the KD ones look more awesomer. With Sandcastle, the MobileVAB? part will be a 3D printer, and the PAMs a later game ones that can be used for 3D printing but not have inventory as part of the. The Fabricator will print what I've already put in the Stock Lab, so parachutes, batteries, RTG and EVA things. Peace.

[1.12.5] SIMPLEX Assembly 1.6 and SIMPLEX Assembly Plus 1.5.1
theJesuit replied to theJesuit's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Updated to 0.7 Sandcastle printers, and volumes for most parts so they can be printed and stored I'm considering making a standard print size rather than calculating volumes. This would mean a volume based only on height for most parts. Upon release, I'm also considering that I'll change the printers so that the crew module is separate from the inventories. This would simplify the whitelisting as well. TBF, the whitelisting will probably change to a blacklisting of lab only printed things. I'm thinking that the printer crew module will become able to print all volumes, but only landed. An orbital dock would then include a 3D Printer that is much larger. But there is may be an issue to ability to manipulate such large masses. Not sure what to do about an orbital dock yet. Oh. I also made the decision for lab only parts. Parachutes because they are fabric, science parts because it is the lab (need calibration), batteries because hazardous. -
It was more that the dimensions were not relatable when compared to part volumes when i used the option to remove all packaging. All good though.

Stamp-o-tron Ground Anchor, what inventive uses have you found?
theJesuit replied to tg626's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Good idea. Put a tower, maybe with a branch that your engineer adjusts and use the claw to attach. Stock solution. -
Howdy @linuxgurugamer! So, I've been playing with volumes and extracted the dimensions from all Squad parts, and I have noticed something... When calculating the Part Volumes for Squad with NO packaging... The mk3 fuselage, and cargo bays are the 2.5m, 5m, and 10m respectively in terms of height, which means save three small cargo bays stack should by 7.5 meters. The Rockomax 64 (2.5m large orange tank :) old skool measurements!) is 7.55 meters Yet when you compare the Rockomax 64 against three of the 2.5m fuselages stacked, it looks smaller, meaning you can fit the Rockomax 7.55m height comfortably within 3 stanck Mk3 cargo bays totaling 7.5ms. I'm just pointing this out, and I'm not suggesting you change or fix this, unless it really bugs you In fact all the Rockomax tanks seem to be different sizes from Part Volume comparatively, from flattest to jumbo: 8x8 is 7.92m 4x16 is 7.68m 2x32 is 7.6m 1x64 is 7.55m Given that you use the bounding box as the part has been created to calculate volumes, it is what it is. Just an interesting observation. Peace.

Mmmm. It isn't in the 3rd tier under Advanced Support? That is where it should be. -
[1.12.5] SIMPLEX Assembly 1.6 and SIMPLEX Assembly Plus 1.5.1
theJesuit replied to theJesuit's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
So spent time this morning working on the Ubio Welder to create the manufacturing parts. I put an original mk2landercan as the base, a a resized mk3 to 2 adapter 1/10th height, and first of all a small mk3 cargo bay, replaced with a mk3 small tank. I replaced the cargo bay with the tank as the doors do strange things upon weldong and craft load. All is well but if i cap it back to 2.5m with adapter then i was not able to EVA out of the part. Ot seems to be if the part is too tall then the EVA hatch is obscured for some reason. -
Do you mean to say you have a pivotable camera?
-
Ah. I see - as I've specified different ratios of resources to different part categories, if I want to utilise the same resources to either print every part in Sandcastle and construct manually, or to use EL to construct craft all in one go, then I'd need to specify the recipes for each part in EL. That is probably easier than I initially was initially thinking. Thanks!

He has picked up many many many mods already and jeeps them updated.

[1.12.5] SIMPLEX Assembly 1.6 and SIMPLEX Assembly Plus 1.5.1
theJesuit replied to theJesuit's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This is where I am heading with SandCastle: I'm going to also include an option to allow for Community Resource Pack MaterialKits and Specialised Parts if CRP is installed, but not Simplex Resources. Note too, that Simplex Resources also changes (or used to?) how regular rockets are built with EL based of modules - but Sandcastle may take care of that for me - I haven't had time to check yet now that taniwha since has been back! I'm also going to change the inventory parts that I have included. Instead I'm thinking of using Mk3 cargo bays without the opening and closing doors though :), and using the welding mod to add in the original Mk2landercan and IVA at the bottom. So that means there will be a small, medium and large 'workshop' parts that will mean anything that is a 2.5m diameter part will be able to be printed. Each workshop will have a limit on what it can create. Some parts will be blacklisted to only be made with the lab, like science parts, probes, and parachutes and the cargo parts. This will be in the 0.7 release over the next couple of days. -
I believe LinuxGuruGamer has you covered!

I updated SIMPLEX Assembly 0.6 to include ratios. This is great thanks! I'm going to also include an option to allow for Community Resource Pack MaterialKits and Specialised Parts. I'm also going to change the inventory parts that I have included. Instead I'm thinking of using Mk3 cargo bays without the opening and closing doors though , welded possibly with the original Mk2landercan if this still exists in the Squad files. Then there will be a small, medium and large and all 2.5m tanks will be able to be printed. Each craft will have a limit on what it can create. Some parts will be blacklisted to only be made with the lab, like science parts, probes, and parachutes. Still not sure what I want to do with parachutes - making them out of metal seems a bit wonky. That will be in the 0.7 release.
-
I came to ask whether it would be possible to get the bounding box dimensions... Apparently I can - Thank you in hindsight! I'm working on SIMPLEX Assembly Sandcastle integration, and considering making the larger Inventory spaces only able to build parts that will actually fit inside them. There will need to be some awesome MM-Fu with this, and likely that I'll need to provide a 'per part' yay or nay for the various size containers/ inventory parts.

[1.12.5] SIMPLEX Assembly 1.6 and SIMPLEX Assembly Plus 1.5.1
theJesuit replied to theJesuit's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Updated to 0.6 Released on 2021-08-23 Update to 0.6 Added Sandcastle config for Simplex Resources With Simplex Resources parts now require various ratios of MetalParts and CustomParts depending on which category it belongs too. If Simplex Resources isn't installed, then the default is stock Ore. Still to come: Sandcastle config for Community Resource Pack using MaterialKits and SpecializedParts which will have the same ratios as Simplex Resources. Thinking of getting rid of the stacked CargoContainers in favour of (not opening) Mk3 and mk2 Cargo bays. The 3D printers would then be part of these. This would mean that you could build pretty much any size 2 part, including the MK2 lander can. without having head cannon issues of them not quite fitting inside the stacked 4x 2.5m cargo containers. -
No worries. If this multiconfig is something that people want I can do it. But not right now. I need to do some playing.

Hi! I made the decision to have my own parts (based on the stock cargo containers) but with a picture of water droplet and bowl) as I didn't like the standard kerbalism ones, or the old HEX containers that had been borrowed into the mod. There are two types of containers - Consumables and Air. Consumables are only inline cylinders, except for the smallest version which is a surface attachable box. Air is only surface attachable, and those parts were made for the future kerbalism 4. Before you ask, there is no ETA on that at all - i.e. not before Christmas. I'm not sure what you are asking in terms of practicality - do you want containers that contain BOTH Consumables and OrganicSlurry, or Air and BadAir? or do you want a container that has Consumables AND Air so that you only need a single part? I'm asking if this is what you want because I can certainly configure them for that.
