I landed back on Laythe, Year 33. I decided to have Laythe permanently inhabitated by Kerbalkind, yessssss Had a hard time to find a long even flat with sufficient ore and somehow close to the equator, inclination changes are very expensive for the SSTO, but at least, i found a runway... selected a place near my first landing some years ago, with more than 6% ore yield in the soil Giant LH2 tug with the SSTO on top, braking with brute nuclear force... Gonna rove around and find a nice place to settle down

[1.12.x] Kerbal Atomics: fancy nuclear engines! (August 18, 2024)
Mikki replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Terve... In KAtomics file is a extras folder containing a LF patch... erase all content except the Squad section, should turn the LV-n back to use LF as stock. Paste the patch to your KAtomics patches folder. -
[1.12.x] Mark IV Spaceplane System (August 18, 2024)
Mikki replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Nertea Pics to your glory! (Careercampaign started in KSP 0.9...) -
@ex_ Hi there, congrats to you! Your mission report is now a piece of KSP history and proof for the seriousness of this very serious forum...! I bet Mr. Musk agrees!

[Minimum KSP version - 1.11] Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) v1.12
Mikki replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Increase the volume for Kerbals in the settings maybe? Open the KIS folder settings... there you are. How to increase the RCS power for heavy Kerbals? I dunno. -
Many, many Kerbals... actually there are around 32 (34?). Still have to hire (or "rescue" ) some more for a new Laythe colony with plenty inmat inhabitants. Target is still having 50% of each gender, ending up with around 50 Kerbals sometime. Oh, i misread the topic: Per spacecraft three to nine. Might split during missions.

@Lorente Hi there, your Kerbals still have to do some work to get experience , the MPL gives the option to level up in situation instead of returning them to the KSC as before build 1.2. This gets handy when you do a long interplanetary mission, your crew can have their progress awarded during the trip. This is how it looks when your Kerbals do some stuff in space:

@ex_ hi there, you made a astonishing mission here! And with stockparts only, i was myself tinkering around with such a reenactment of musks idea but yours is way more efficient and just hits the nail with amazing safetymargins, i watched the whole clip... This looks so easy but is in fact real hard to match, including the boosterlanding like there is nothing more complex... This should get mentioned in @sal_vagers Totm... Hi sal!

Yes, Mr. Manley is around sometimes. He commented this thread on the first page. Great mod btw, sadly some comments are silly.

Mikki replied to Monkey Taylor's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
No, me wishes to see your entry as stated in the rules Then, i might try it for less funds than you. Anything else is not a challenge. -

[1.12.x] Kerbal Atomics: fancy nuclear engines! (August 18, 2024)
Mikki replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Take it easy, it still works. I attached with KIS additional radiators from your updated Heat Control mod, and it works the better the more it slap onto it. The turbopump engine(s) are tweakable, true, and i think it shouldn`t as well. No pump, no fuel... Edit: Some ingame feedback for couriosity: I`ve disassembled my vessel in Bops orbit with KIS, estimated the radiatorcapacity needed and "sent" a fixed engine module with F12 "rendezvous", attached with spare "Konstruktion mod" dockingports and welded the whole bunch. This is the point shortly after where internal and radiation flux equalized after a minute burn for testing. Having the vessel in focus without timewarp is save, it takes about 15 minutes to reach this point, stock radiators in the mid section retracted. All radiators from Heat Control mod. To me it looks reasonable, since the "Emancipator" has to make it`s name every honour. (My wife behaves the same somehow.) Have a look: Engine got hot, but survived. Excellent. "Nuclear Overkill". I guess the crew must abandon any hope for future breeding. -
...Fly-by every celestial body, i guess in the specified order, starting with the sun... The infamous "Ultimate Challenge". I really don`t think its possible in stock, except with excessive asteroid ISRU along the way. All the muns included btw. I have some time to try it though.

I just accepted a contract, duration? Some 650 years...

[1.12.x] Kerbal Atomics: fancy nuclear engines! (August 18, 2024)
Mikki replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Nertea Hi there, (lord of the fuelrods), i`ve encountered a issue with all the latest updates to KAtomics and the NFEpatch for waste transfer and accurate heating... My Vessel with a Emancipator engine tends to heat up the part which it is attached to in really dangerous ways, after testing it about 15 times (F9) i found it needs like about five times more active radiators on the current vessel to prevent the ship from melting down nearby the engine... Keeping the vessel active and watching the cooling attempts in realtime or slight timewarp ends in a nice "decoupling" of the propulsionsystem, and my Kerbals break out in panic . However it doesn`t break my game, i still can timewarp a few days in the trackingstation and return to the vessel which has cooled down nicely. Have a look, after running the engine for some seconds, the large reaction wheel is going to blow up soon: -
@RealGecko Great mod, this is really helpfull! I guess rover must be landed to use BV?

Criteria for funding and promotion lead to bad science
Mikki replied to Darnok's topic in Science & Spaceflight
@Darnok Well, your comment and the lack of any reply (except mine here) confirms the major problem of current science funding, assuming most scientists need to work do research for a living, and the institution(s) which funds or pays said research, likes to see "specific" results and/or any possibilty of an economic exploit of said research. Any otherwhise funded research by privat or company or country is not allways distinguishibly different in that practice. The few remaining independent scientists or researchers of any branch remain mostly in secrecy and when one of them occurs occasionly with unconvenient results or other claims a general "public" sh*tstorm from "serious" well funded and promoted colleagues arises from the horizon. Why? Money. Future. Fear. "Cheating Death". It is simply the point where reason is corrupted by fear. History repeats itself, and the current human accelerated rate of spread around this planet doesn`t look really like there is "reason" in the winning, in fact, average humans become dumber any generation, the sheer amount of information available makes this place a huge mess running out of any natural regulation. Good luck humankind, because luck is the only reliable scale for 99% of us. Excuse my bad english. Thank you -

Soviet [Korolev's style] stock parts
Mikki replied to Hendryk's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, it is true, the rather organic Soyuz shape is very special, it would be a derailing of the Kerbal style of spacesim... At least there is the Mir reference and a trusty Probecore. And the RD engines. And russian spelling Kerbals, some of mine speak krussian to me exclusively. (There are others which i rarely understand, one is Khindi, the others Knippon and Khinese...) -
Soviet [Korolev's style] stock parts
Mikki replied to Hendryk's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
...this is the one and only thing i truely miss in KSP, a true and honorable mention (or simple Kerbal reference) of Korolevs work, and the rest of the R-7 design, i mean the slanted tanksection of the centerstage. I really think it is not a small issue to hide these engineering marbles from the younger public, but as allways, its not our game, its @SQUADs child. It is how it is. -
Mass extinction from Star Destroyer crash?
Mikki replied to cubinator's topic in Science & Spaceflight
With sufficient amount of dark ene force on board - yes. -
@Kerbas_ad_astra Hi there, your mod is fantastic! I just tested it with combined LF engines and refueled the Solids with KIS after landing, its just great! This is by far the most handy mod for people with... errm... "precious" career Kerbals... In my Opinion its ready for 1.0, just make a custom Landertron computer maybe? (I pulled the Github zip, is there any else?)

Pretty much the same impression here! Looks amazing!
