The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge - 1.0 to 1.3
Mikki replied to sdj64's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Okay, i am in again! These words gave me just the final idea, after my first failed attempt i start working on a new. Great challenge! -
@NewTada OMG i thought you mean the glider itself all the time! Really sorry but i am a stupid sometimes... You can make smaller gaps between the lines with shift+enter, if you want to begin a new line in the text editor in this forum! I wish you happy landings!
-
I hope you worshipped aside the mohole... like any good mohole pilgrims do .
-
@NewTada Please excuse me NewTada, you are right somehow, it does roll in certain descend angles and speed if a correction must be made... In this forum "flipping" means to pitch uncontrollable up/downwards and then stalling, mostly... i did not recognize you are maybe a new forummember, again please excuse me again... You are right, i flew it again and it does indeed tend to roll in flightvector in certain circumstance, but it stabilizes allways by itself... however. Start your descend at the beginning of the desert, aim forthe KSC, that should let you drop close to it to make a nice steep glide to the runway (if you need to hit the runway anyway). And welcome to the forums!
-
"As we use to say, we need proof." As in the mission time in my original post pics you can see i build this for atmospheric descend aswell, there is no flip behave, i really think you just me mate. I flew it again two times. The dockingport must be faced ahead while landing btw.

Open Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics
Mikki replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Today while breakfast i discovered that i can attach multiple fuellines to a small nose cone which can attach on every surface, without breaking a desired fuellogic! Since the lenght of fuellines is limited, this can be handy: -
If nothing helps i put two small engines diametral to fuselage and burn so fuel off, without adding any speed vector. not elegant, but works.

Two Idiot Torpedo System (v1.0.5 2000m/s Mun Lander)
Mikki replied to Turd's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Good to know you won`t put any Judges, lawyers or other non-idiots in this craft... looks hell-a-cool! We can put it up with small SSTO's, and capture again and land! Great! You have a lot lateral RCS authority, maybe put the half of it more front/after in lenght axe... its cool anyway -
@NewTada you wanna fool me eh ? I just tested it again, It never makes a unstable flight, even RCS full, LFO empty it flys perfect, CoM way ahead CoL... you can fly to mun, yes. Greetings Mikki I know many crafts in this forum which do not fly as promoted, go ahead and ask these authors...
-
@NewTada 1. true 2. never noticed any flipping, SAS should be on all the time however (I just watched the screenshot, it doesn`t even need SAS to descend nicely...?), airbrake mode Pitch true (?), maybe with the frontfuel tank depleted first it flips... i cannot remember. It really did not flip while i flew this, hardtested. 3. go ahead! How can struts keep a tiny craft more steady? I confess using KJR, yes. Guilty by any means . I added a warning to the Craft description, maybe when the RCS is full and the LFO is depleted it gets flippy... Not intendet really. Greetings Mikki

@Gojira1000 Your entry is a viable seaplane, it lacks reasonable handling but you made it nevertheless! you are on the partyboat... board! I failed loading the craft from your filehoster... but i have seen the kbs and the textfile with my remaining healthy right eye... , you must know i am not a filepastehero... AHOY Seaman! The beer floats in the bildge (?)!
-
@Val, great video for the second page, thank you very much! The badge plane is truely intriguing in shape... @Gojira1000, also great video, the signifacant things are well observable, your entry is on the final approch... if you can`t or won`t post a craftfile you can be relieved from this duty, but you must give somebody a gift in RL which who you don`t like so much, deal? @steve_v, i have reliable information that RL common jetengines, ramjetmotors and many other propulsion derivates on planes can swallow enormous amounts of water, snow, hail, rain, dust, seawater, ducks, gooses, swans, locusts, bees, dogs, cats, maybe fish aswell and many other things during operation. I have seen engineers test a (fighter-) jetmotor throwing bucketloads hailgrans in eggsize into the inlet, with mach 0.5. These are quite and resistant constructions, lots of titanium and other exotic metal used on the frontblades. Common rocketmotors work under water, some gasbubble must be build first in the bell, ignition can be done in any way somehow. Sure, its not good for the construction, but hey.

Yes, must have one to make a nice dockingmaneuver, and for fuelingup in orbit, its not visible clearly...

Jakalth goes off the DEEP end. Literally.

I am looking for a sub than can be stored in a 4x cargobay... downloading this for research! Cool! -
Let your Kerbals give Eve a everlasting hug... Good luck, prepare a rescuemission, don`t forget!
-
Yes thank you verry very much! I actually tried to copy the concept from the challenge badge, which is a older soviet Beriev Seaplane... If there where other engine proportions (in this game) and more freedom of fuel distribution it would be more easyer but i am working on it! I tend to make it waaaaay to big, allways! Ahoy Seaman!
-
Hey Mikki errm.. ah its me, okay... I made a Mk3 entry in your... my glorious Challenge! Okay let`s see: http://imgur.com/a/muxO2 Craftfile: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hk5rn2ct9l61zq1/Kk3 SSRATO.craft?dl=0

There is no shame using KJR,... if there was, well... I refuse to play KSP without it. Really, this game forces me to use it.... Hey Kuzzter, are you gonna drop a Sub in the sagen sea? Since we can do so, i would think about it...

I threw together a hilarious overpowered Seaplane SSTO. It can splahdown fully loaded and bring a 3/4 Orange tank to LKO...
-
Aha! A Seaman! Hello sphere I have just visited your Imgur album and took a sharp look at your entry, especially the heat-tolerance of your Fat 455 Wings... Looks like you made a viable entry with the first Mk3 fuselageparts, i am well surprised, since i wasn`t able to do so by myself until now... Your Seaplane encouraged me to try again myselff ! As far as my remaining left eye can see you have finished the Seaplane to Orbit Party-Challenge Mk3 with wet serious watered stranded (maybe "ultimate", but this must be approved because it is not quite clear here). Congrats and Ahoy! You can do anytime another entry if you like, i am curious what people make!
-
I can test your refurbished craft tomorrow morning Done, i think you are free for now to make another album again, it`s not that i am in doubt of you, please don`t think! I have allready read the description in your DL, thank you for your entry anyway! You can remove the first DL in your first entry if you like so, greetings arrrr... Ahoy! I have tested the watering specs fully fueled, and lifted off again, Bill made a inspection by foot, and he sais this craft is good to go ! Jeb failed reaching orbit by close, but he is not aspecialist in the shallow coasting technique, we will blame him for now ! Val has made a viable entry with a rather complex airframe with ultimate watered stranded booty! Congrats to you!

Mikki replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh nice! Is it approved for aerocapturing/ braking small probes and landers? It`s black, that will be a favourite part in my Space program .
