  1. Hello! So we all know the basic ships that come loaded with every save. The Kerbal X, Two stage lander, Aeris 3a, etc. But when you take a closer look, you realize that... these crafts are fairly useless. The Kerbal X has a pod with landing legs, but can't make it back from the mun. The Stearwing d-45 can only make orbit with excellent piloting, but it's obviously designed to be an ssto. The Kerbal 2.... What even is the Kerbal 2? The super heavy lander is not very well built, and wastes a lot of delta v. And the list goes on. CHALLENGE Your job is to build a new stock vehicle lineup to fill the basic niches (Small rocket, lander, larger rocket, various aircraft, ssto, etc.) that will teach new players good strategies and practices for building ships. RULES - No excessive clipping. You can decide if your craft(s) violate this rule. - Stock parts only. Informational plugins are fine. In fact, Kerbal Engineer is recommended to see delta v of your craft. - No debug menu *cough* Kaboom! *cough* LEADERBOARDS SPH JLtheGrunger, Pelican (Aeris 3a Light Jet) VAB GoSlash27, Rockomax Katapult (2.5m medium launcher) Bev7787, Navigator Probe Launch Kit (1.25m launcher w/ Probe) Red Iron Crown, Day Tripper (Mun and Minmus lander w/ launcher) JLtheGrunger, Proton K (3.75m Heavy Launcher) Good luck, and happy building! 2. Are you marking seams on the top and bottom of the cylinder, and then one on the side? Think of how you would build a cylinder out of paper. This issue held me back for a while. Looks good!
  3. Here's an old album of pictures found on NovaSilisko's devblog
  4. Has anyone run into scaling issues with the Fuji/Polaris orbital module? It looks fine in the VAB, but in flight it scales down quite a bit. I only realized this when I dropped my fairings on the way to my duna exploration ship. EDIT: it fixed itself!
  5. While I like this idea, I would keep it smaller. If the game had a stockified KAS/KIS, engineers would be vital. They could connect hoses, move things, attach small parts, whatever. And I like you idea of low level engineers detaching a part only. That makes for an interesting challenge.
  6. Another thing that bothers me is "Observe mystery goo ______" contracts. Suborbital, orbital and escaping are all the same thing when it comes to goo. Space is space. Speed doesn't matter to your experiment.
  7. You made me shudder. We get the U5 update, Game runs at 60 FPS all the time. Major art pass on planets, parts, sounds, etc. Multiplayer comes, huge boost in popularity. GP2 added, along with all it's moons. Then, SQUAD begins work on a sequel!
  8. I think he complements my name very well.
  9. I can't read mine because it layers two lines of text on top of each other. OS X for the win!
  10. -93 HELLO YOU FOUND THE SECRET MESSAGE HAVE A CAKE HAH I LIED NO CAKE FOR YOU Uncaps
  11. Subbed! This is the best approach to procedural cities in KSP I've ever seen. I wish you the best of luck.
  12. Possibly, but it should sound like a launch. The powerful, roaring low end is what people think a launch sounds like, scientifically correct or not. And it would sound amazing in KSP.
  13. Major - Abysmal sound design. its just awful and weak. Fire screaming out of an engine nozzle, propelling a million pound vehicle into orbit should not sound like a hair dryer, as stated earlier in this thread. It should have deep bass that puts our headphones, studio monitors, subwoofers etc. to good use. s. Oh, and sonic booms!- The engine effects are almost worse than the sounds. Once again, my rocket should not look like it is propelled by a candle. If that. Also, it appears that many of the SRB effects have remained the same since the very first public release of KSP. - The music. The main theme is fine, but there are three(?) space themes. In a game where plenty of people rack up more than 1000 hours, and the game is set guess where, that's going to repetitive quick. I probably turned my music volume off before I played 30 hours. There should be a unique set of songs for each celestial body, landed and in orbit. Perhaps a few to play during reentry. Maybe something to listen to while flying planes. The list goes on. Once again, these songs should NOT be miscellaneous Kevin MacLeod tracks. Squad has money, they can hire a composer if they don't want to do it themselves. As an aspiring audio engineer, this is very important to me. -Lack of any significant endgame, or push to explore. - Nothing to do on planets. They're barren and boring. The only thing left to do is take off. - There is no art style. It's just a hogged up mess of different parts by different artists. There needs to be a sense of uniformity. You can't have 55 gallon drum fuel tanks mixed with beautiful, sleek Porkjet parts. - Memory leaks. Long scene changes. Bugs. Crashes. - OS X SUPPORT IS AWFUL. Minor - Insta-scan - No footprints or rover tracks - Lack of good, physical, ground scatter. The game is complete now, this shouldn't be a WIP option in the settings. - "Engine cannot activate while stowed" And the list goes on...

  15. Yeah it looks great! I'll be using this when it's released!
  16. Thank you! I didn't use DDS because I'm not sure how to export it in unity, plus I didn't want to over-complicate things. Next release will most likely have it. I modeled and uv unwrapped a reactor yesterday. It's done in Nertea's style, filling the gap between the 1.25m reactor and the 2.5m reactor, which is very tall. So here's a quick render, prior to texturing: And a textured render will come later. Here it is!
  17. Ah! Thank you! I Completely forgot I had to change that after I changed the folder name. I'm fixing and reuploading now. EDIT: Hotfixed!
  18. I suppose it's time to let you guys mess around with this! DOWNLOAD Known Bugs - Kerbal Engineer doesn't recognize power change - Atmosphere curve doesn't work - No FX ATTENTION- This release is most likely buggy and unbalanced. I would recommend that you do not use this in a career save. Also, the argon tanks were made by Porkjet, not me. The NearFuturePropulsion plugin was made by Nertea. Go give them some rep! License? Mods, if I got this wrong, or I don't need it here, please let me know.
