  1. Ohhhh okay, now I see what you are talking about. Thanks for the screenshot, and the eye opener
  2. You might be right, mate, and its probably enough for the flybys you proposed too. Nevermind my daydreaming then sorry for the misinformation
  3. I have to disagree with you, I feel it is very easy to assign all the axis, and even set their dead zones and sensitivities in KSPs settings menu. I'm not a flight sim guy though and might be completly missing somehing here, but I feel it is fine the way it is. What kind of problem do you have? maybe somebody here can help you. I agree with you on the ingame options though, would be cool if Squad could make the input settings accesible ingame, but then again I dont find myself changing them a lot anyway. After everything is set up I save the settings file just in case.
  4. Nice craft! From looking at it I feel it should have more dV, but then I remembered the exaggregated mass of that pod. Somehow I feel Squad could make that one a bit lighter, but thats just me. In this circumsances its perfectly legitimate to clip another tank into your tank to still retain the look and give it a bit more "realistic" dV
  5. I think of this as Navball drift induced by excessive reaction wheel torque. On my landers that require a lot of reaction wheel torque for some reason I usually assign them to an action group, toggle them off for orbital maneuvers and only let the torque from the pod or the RCS do the work. For flying around on surfaces and stuff the strong torque is very nice a lot of the time, and it only really bothers the system on orbital maneuvers, so its nice to have it available via actiongroups.
  6. Joysticks are great for KSP! I'm a lefty and I use two sticks at the same time. Translation on my right stick, but for flying rockets and landers usually only use the throttle on that stick, its perfect like that. Plenty buttons for action groups too.
  7. Thank you, I appreciate your help. That might become helpful after I got a bit more familiar with this mod. At this point it all looks a bit cryptic to me, I'll have to read up on this thread and then muster the courage and play around with this on a test install maybe.
  8. Hey! Is there a video or a tutorial on how to use this mod? I want to learn how to use this to do things like getting rid of the IVAs and Kerbal portraits etc. Thanks Daf
  9. That sounds great, I will have to look into this, for some of my mod heavy installs. I have Module Manager installed, but apparently dont know how to use it properly. Always thought that thing just does its business in the background. Your "hidden content" is not very helpful though, as I have no idea what to make of thins. I will read into it in the MM thread. Thanks for the pointer!
  10. The SKAT is going places! Single stage to the outer planets?! Both landers have plenty of juice left for some extended surface bashing and the way home. Antimatter is some serious stuff.
  11. I got a lot of VTOL inspiration from Cupcake I'll just add that I highly recommend to look into joysticks.
  12. Generally try to keep the COM as low as possible, and maybe increase drag at the top (by adding airbrakes or fins or something)
  13. Only game I play next to KSP these days is a bit of Ori And The Blind Forest. Amazing 2D Jump&Run, got aware of it because Kasper or some KSP Dev mentioned it in the context of some award thing. There is an extended version coming out tomorrow too!
  14. That seems like a good idea. I never even thought of that. Thank you!
  15. Its in the games settings menu, go to settings then input. It is a very easy to understand interface, like you see it in other games too, lets you assign all the comands to buttons and axis. the settings file is in your ksp folder. I find mine usually near the bottom of the list of folders and files.
  16. Hahaha @Overland, I love your posts and your creations. KSP is great. One thing to mention about controllers: after you have your controller/joystick set up done correctly, save the settings file somewhere. KSP has the nasty habit of deleting this file and resetting all your controller settings should you ever start up the game without the controller plugged in (or I have the suspicion sometimes it does that even when your stuff is plugged into a different port, but that might be because I use multiple joysticks and KSP only calls them Joystick 1, 2, etc)
  17. I went ahead and installed it and had a good look around. It is true what has been said here, that mod is gorgeous and the planets have a stock feeling to them Thank you for bringing this mod to my attention again, I overlooked it for so long. Just when I started to feel like running out of places to go the game feels all new again. Cheers Daf
  18. Believe me, fire was one of the more comprehensible failures the test squad of JRs SKAT had to endure, we had to expect anything once the craft is on the runway. But when you follow all the rules and precautions the results can be quite amazing.
  19. Thank you @Snark, now I'll have to get it too. I was on the fence anyway, and you just shoved me over. Cheers
  20. I have to disagree here. Yes, the previous version flipped over without SAS engaged, but SAS could fix that. In the current version it just starts to fly backwards, and SAS cant fix that. So no, I think it was better before and it should be fixed. In this setup it is very hard to hover, and with the previous version I could easily fly through all the tunnels at the KSC and land wherever I wanted, almost impossible with the current version.
  21. Do you guys also get a slightly forward tilted thrust vector on the Rangers VTOL engine?
  22. Nice idea and perfect execution, will definitely test it when you release something.
