As a matter of fact I am unable to due to the challenge I am specifically speaking of was edited to remove any mention of the pre-release ... Why it was edited is anyone's guess although it is likely that a MOD stepped in and asked that the challenge be changed until 1.1 was released
-
I understand what you are saying but you're not addressing the point I am asking the community about This isn't about Squad nor is it about who got what toy first ,,, I am asking a question about what the community thinks concerning certain community members not respecting others within the community in regards to posting challenges in the challenge section regarding the 1.1 pre-release even after it was asked that the community refrain from doing so How this has degenerated into a flame war over the choice that was made has shown so far that we as a community aren't even capable of having a civil discussion without resorting to personal attacks ... this is the most disturbing part
-
Squad made the choice they did due to technical limitations and that isn't what my post is about ... I wanted to know what the community thought about the posting of challenges and such before 1.1 was officially released I think you misconstrue what this thread is about
-
Actually this is concerning posts that were from before the release today

I have a bit of a gripe concerning the 1.1 update. It seems that there are challenges that are being posted on the forums for the 1.1 pre-release and I feel that this is unfair and alienates those of us who choose not to support steam. It is almost like those of us who chose to support Squad by buying KSP directly from them are being ostracized for choosing to support the developer instead of a third party software provider. This isn't another thread concerning whether the pre-release should have been released to all by any means necessary as doing the pre-release through Steam was the best option available to Squad at this time given the options available to them. However, having challenges posted involving the 1.1 pre-release on the KSP forums could be viewed as a direct insult to those of us who refuse to use steam. I would ask that we not turn this into another 'salty tears' thread but rather use this thread to make our voices heard by the members of the community who have decided to not respect the fact that 1.1 was in pre-release which was done to further testing and finding bugs ... Not for mass consumption if you will. I would like to know the community's thoughts on this.

1.1 is in pre-release and challenges aren't supposed to be made involving it until it has been fully released AFAIK I'm not involved in this challenge myself but I figured the I'd let you guys know that just in case you get shut down by a moderator for infringing on this ... not everyone has 1.1 and it isn't necessarily fair towards those who don't have 1.1 to be prevented from entering into this challenge due to them not having 1.1 just because they chose not to support steam

My mistake is that I tried to make the Bad Company stable while firing and now I realize that by doing this I hindered her potential ... That coupled with the gun range being set too low and using 2 each of 20mm and 13mm (I should have used just the 23mm as I had on the original Bad Company) I will be remembering this for next time ... Bad Company Mk2 will do much better in the next BAD T
-
Just wow, totally unexpected I could have used a bit more roll and pitch authority but the major drawback of the Bad Company is the rear end ... It goes kaboom too easily so we all should remember that the stock tail connectors are very susceptible to 'splodin with only a few shots I already have an idea to fix that issue Now it's on to the next Tier 2 battle ... @Noir - Good luck in the coming fight
-
You'll have to use LFO tanks to make it work since there's no air on Dres .... for steering you could use Vernors

@tetryds - Personally I like the idea of having multiple classes of dummies to be used for determining which tier a combatant would be entered into. Running qualifications, or pre-matches if you will, should be a part of future BAD T tournaments as it would help considerably with preventing overly uneven crafts being put against each other and having a combatants plane, as you put it, plainly executed. When I read your post I quoted above, I couldn't help but think about how racing has the Cart Series for the drivers who's skills are not as polished as Formula 1 race car drivers (Cart is for the up and comers who are still honing their skills and Formula 1 is where the big boys play) ... it is more convoluted than this as you need to have racing experience in order to get into Cart but I believe you get the gist of the concept I am trying to get across (all sports have minor and major leagues) In regards to FAR tutorials, this totally needs to be implemented as many have little experience with it and starting from scratch without any Cliff Notes on the subject can make designing in FAR a bit daunting. This isn't saying it needs to be a thorough and in depth tutorial, just a basic rundown of how things work and some 'good practices' sort of deal in order to start potential combatants traveling down the road to being FAR master designers. I also believe that some Cliff Notes should be drawn up containing basic concepts and tips for developing and designing planes in KSP that fall within the scope of the BAD T tournament ... Things such as load balancing (thrust and resources for instance) and part placement (landing gear, weapons, fuel etc...) I can see the BAD T tournament becoming the next extreme e-sport, way better than League of Legends or any of those other e-sports that are out there. Just my two cents Davinci

Gotta be a Pod Racer first, then you strap frikkin' laser beams on it's head lol ... form follows function
-
In the air of course ... you saw the video of my POD, it flies (and it shoots )
-
@Pds314 - You gotta strap some frikkin' laser beams guns to that beast When 1.1 is officially released perhaps we can start a Pod Fighter challenge
-
And yet another Second Tier battle has been uploaded ... You can watch it HERE @Brice04 - Your craft had much difficulty getting off the ground as it weighed in at 7.7 tons and only had 1 engine ... I removed 2.4 tons of fuel that was not required which made her 5.3 tons (you had way too much fuel for a prop driven craft) I would also suggest that you pay attention to weight for the next BAD T as the lighter your craft is the better she'll respond to control inputs (The fighter you went up against was half your craft's weight) ... Otherwise, your craft would have had an advantage as it does have good control, just the weight was what hindered her performance
-
The turning isn't 1600 lol ... She's just super fast, like I said she hits over Mach 0.72 in level flight easily (in a dive she can hit close to 0.77) Without using her air-brakes I need absolutely 650 to pull out of a dive but I set her a bit higher just in case ... Once she fights you'll see, she's a beast ... took out 3 BAD T dummies in under 12 minutes without getting hit during testing ... has an average combat speed of 160-180 m/s and regularly hits well over 200 m/s during battle She also takes off super fast due to the 2 B40's and weighing in at a meager 6.5 tons on the tarmac
-
And yet another Second Tier battle has been uploaded ... You can watch the video HERE Your minimum altitude is what determines that coupled with how well it controls itself in flight A good rule to follow is to put your craft into a dive from 2000 and see at what height it can successfully pull out of the dive without crashing ... I had to set my DF-43 Bad Company to 800 or so in order to be sure it wouldn't smash into the ground while pulling out of a dive (she is pretty fast ... reaches over 250 m/s with ease)

The Mun Polar Crater ISRU Challenge

I was under the impression that 1.1 challenges were to not be posted until the official release .... I must be mistaken -
I got a bit bored so I figured I'd build a Pod Racer for this although I did end up attaching some frikkin' laser beams guns to it and ran a 1 vs 1 against itself using BD Armory just for the hell of it ... I was bored after all You can watch the video HERE
