Mars Rover Perseverance Discussion Thread
Nightside replied to cubinator's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Just report the OP on the redundant thread. -
it worked a couple of versions ago, when I lasted tried it. But it is a little funny because it has some jets flying over the launch site as part of the static, so they just hang there in the air.

Sounds like you are missing a mod dependency perhaps?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great idea, but at this point, there have probably been thousands of mods created for Ksp. It is a Sisyphean task to keep it up to date every time the game updates. Maybe a list of mods not hosted on the major platforms would be useful though.
-
Essentially, the forum, Ckan, and Spacedock are the list of maintained mods.

totm dec 2023 Artemis Discussion Thread
Nightside replied to Nightside's topic in Science & Spaceflight
But the Artemis program wouldn't provide any of that. Except possibly to serve as a petri dish if a crew becomes infected after departure. -
It looks shiny, but I'm not impressed at the functionality. Limiting transit to small vehicles might make sense in a complex network with many entry and exit points ( imagine the vacuum tubes in the intro to Futurama), and limited peak usage periods. This system would need to have much more than just 10 cars to be functionally equivalent to even a small airport shuttle/rail system. This is just another Vegas attraction, not a transportation solution.

Those nets are HUGE! that massive fairing gets lost in there.

Not miss, but Ms. (rhymes with "fizz") which doesn't denote marital state. Seems line an ironic spin on the old tradition of giving boats feminine names. Plural of Ms. is Mss.

First time for a double? How many singles have they even caught?

Haha, loved the "nominal orbital insertion" callout right as the booster lands.

Seems like it's part of the job to build the production line to build the Starliner in a timely fashion.

Pretty sure this violates forum rules in the best possible way! Thanks for sharing your work!!!

Looks like it doubles as a coffee table. That adds some value.

Yes, it is latitude. Or maybe both. I’ve struggled with this bug myself in my Terrainium project. I have also encountered similar issues when trying to specify a very narrow range (equivalent to <1 degree). My goal was to locate scatter-based cities, but the limits in gamenever really matched the inputs. A major usability improvement would be to allow input of Latitude (-90 - +90) and longitude (-180 - +180) In degrees rather than percents, although the calculation is not too hard, it is still a barrier to entry and complicates things. ... I have seen some configs using ranges beyond 0-1 for these values but never knew why. Maybe the intention was to “triple wrap” the area.

Comet Neowise 2020! [August Hubble photo update]
Nightside replied to a topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yay, saw it last night, finally. Had to wait until it peaked behind the neighbors pine tree. I used the Sky Guide app to find where it should be and looked with binoculars, but could then pick it out unaided after that. -

Same, I’ve looked mornings too. -

Sounds like an Apple-style slick white box.
