At what value does the rep counter max out at? Does it display "Infinity", roll over to 0 or -32768 or something?
-
No. Vanamonde
-
It would become tidally locked, because the gravity field affects it in the same way - higher pull on the side facing the parent body.

An underground lake was found on Mars
cubinator replied to Spaceception's topic in Science & Spaceflight
There's also a lot of evidence that if multiple planets were habitable life would be able to spread between those planets, so I think a common ancestor between Earth halophiles and potential Mars ones is quite possible. It's not very deep, like maybe a couple of meters. And we have lakes like that on Earth too, and they manage to hold up. -

Apparently there are microbes that can metabolize off salts. This is extremely exciting. -

No, apparently the radar data is not indicative of just dirt with water in the gaps. We're talking a proper body of water, like the kind something could swim around in. -
No, because it's not different or better in any way than the life I'm living normally.

Aww. Well, Mr. Steven.wav stays on my hard disk for a few more months then.
-
Should I get up at 6:30 to watch the launch live? ehhhhhh they probably won't say anything about fairing recovery until either Elon tweets or Mr. Steven comes in to port with her catch it's probably going to work this time Nah. If it works I'll post the song when I get up and find out about it.

I was under the impression there was only one creation implied in Last Thursdayism...not once every week. So it's safe to say the universe is 13 billion years old, and the laws of physics haven't changed or exceptions made, because to say otherwise is simply an unnecessary overcomplification.
-
Any theory that describes the creation of the universe breaks our current model of physics, because we don't know enough to say how to create a universe.
-
Certainly better than spinning it up and walking on the walls to parachute out the hatch.
-
But if the universe doesn't exist yet, then I can't know that it will exist by Thursday. But you do know. Therefore, I conclude that you are God.

totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
cubinator replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
The first minute or so from here. All day. -
@adsii1970 You can put me down as having finished high school and enrolled at a university. I start classes the first week of September. I'm currently leaning towards an Aerospace Engineering major and an Entomology minor. I'll pursue a career that is related to spaceflight, especially one where I'm working directly with space hardware. Once I have the right experience I will attempt to become an astronaut.

It was worse than the Shuttle launch abort plans.

Person 1: Hello there!
-
We have got to build pyramids on Mars.
-
The one time I dreamt I was in a BFR it was during a risky launch abort.
-
It might be possible to do this artificially with a lot of energy spent making the pure water sphere. Maybe if you put a lot of ice together and then melted it you could get a water world.

I want to see this series go right up to the opening scene of ROTS.

Polaris probably won't ever be the North Star again.
