Cubinator's 8-Bit Drawings and Music And Stuff [Latest: Brown Dwarf]
cubinator replied to cubinator's topic in The Lounge
Europan Base: The rocket is burning hydrolox because it is a local transport between the moons, so boiloff is less of a problem, and water is abundant in the system for fuel manufacture. (Also I drew this in an airplane in flight)- 176 replies

Holy crap, in 2024 I'll be applying for NASA's Astronaut Candidate program, and possibly others if they exist yet! In more related news, I just got back home from my eclipse trip!

I just got home from Yellowstone, after my flight out of SLC got delayed due to a hydraulics leak in one of the landing gear, and I had to disembark and board a different plane. -
Happened in Idaho, too. It's silly to think they could beat the traffic.

Very nice! A piece of advice: Due to the way computers tend to not like small images, I usually double the dimensions of my pixel arts to make the images look sharper, especially on phones. Otherwise they look blurry.- 894 replies

To put Saturn between Earth and Sun would cause more than insignificant gravitational perturbations, likely causing Earth to enter a more eccentric orbit where temperatures rise during perihelion and drop during aphelion. It could also trigger later interactions with Venus or Mars that could further exaggerate Earth's orbit, and by extension worldwide climates. So, you would be the supervillain and this power is not useless.
-
I understand. But I wonder if that point occurs during or after the entry burn.
-
Misread as "Amateur rock to orbit" and thought "yeah, that's doable."
-
As Falcon 9 reenters Earth's atmosphere, doesn't it experience a sort of second Max-Q? At what altitude and speed are the forces the greatest during descent?

That's a real good chance there. It's actually a lot slimmer. Having accumulated three stars by now, I go and hide in the secret slide.

Yes, the smudge is Regulus. I did not see it while I was in the shadow, but I saw a bunch of other cool stuff.
