  1. Been playing with the SSTU mod and having a blast. Built the SLS and Delta IV with the Orion capsule, Just awesome... A couple of things I run across, maybe for future consideration: - RCS on the Orion CM/SM are not balanced, they make the ship wobble all over the place, is hell to dock with anything. If I disable the RCS on SM and CM and add four stock one just under the SM collar, it is balanced perfectly. Perhaps make the actual rcs point come from someplace other than the actual graphical representation? - A possibility to have chutes integrated into the top cone, or something that can be added without making it look funky. Parts folder things: - The largest engines do not show up under my stock-engines tab, only the SSTU tab - Could you add a tab with all your other parts, just like with the engines? - Could you make a manufacturer tab so all your parts show up in one place when filtering on brands?
  2. Just a noob question... How come the tank dome is round but the mount and rim are polygonal? Is that just the render?
  3. Wolf: Just use other decouplers, the rest is just fine. To be honest I only use the Gemini/Apollo pods and landers, I've removed the rest as I have been using SSTU for my other ships. It would be so cool if FASA could get the Orion parts in the same style as the Apollo system.
  4. Whahaha, Rover. It's a Bee's Nest ;) MoreBoosters: Mass isn't deducted when mining right now, one of the bees Rover is referring to. So your asteroid gives infinite rock and thus infinite space and thus infinity fuel (you just have to click a LOT as the "expand" only adds 100 each time). Theoretically if we stick an engine on it we could reach the speed of light as that required more fuel than all the matter in the universe (which we now have).
  5. Kasper, all the reasons you mention for migrating are possible in vBulletin as well. What I see is that you are dumping more useful content than we are getting in return. Seems like a lot of work for just a different software package that does the same thing. Moving to other software means all the attachments will be broken, old smileys will revert to bbcode etc. Been there, done that, got the migrane.
  6. Pipcard... that would work if you get into orbit with that first stage, you'd have time to switch back to the main stage. But I often have a main stage that is rejected while still underway to the apoapsis. I've tried adding chutes but there is no control to have them open on time (besides manually switching back and waiting until it is safe). I'll check into Flight Manager. [edit] that seems not to work on 1.0.5 according to the thread
  7. Waxing, thanks, that is what I am looking for!!! Yeah, Star Trek suit colors would also help :)
  8. Hiya, In light of what SpaceX and Blue Origin are working on, would it be possible to have a stage that is expelled along the way, autonomously land itself for retrieval? Looking at MechJeb, hint hint
  9. I pick a crew to send up consisting of the three classes of pilot/engineer/scientist, but once place in the vehicle I can never see which kerbal does what. Is there a way/mod to show their job in their icon?
  10. Yanfret: NP, it's just that I had tons of crashes (the orion tanks cluster and the altair lander pod would cause huge fps drops) with the current version and decided to take out the other parts I don't use and found that almost all the cfg files were copies of something. I'll hold off until 1.1, can't wait for KSP to get their act together and move to the 21st century ;)
  11. Awww, but the parts are so cool! BTW: ART turns an asteroid into a Tardis; it gets infinite space when you mine the rock. I have over 100K LF/Ox and Xenon stored now and nothing was removed from the mass :) And to think what I did to get an E class asteroid into a 500km Kerbin orbit... mwuhahahahaha. Will be capturing a type A and have it orbit the Mun as a refueling station. I'm trying to find all the easter-eggs there and have set up a base and an orbiter. Also just downloaded the Life Support mod. In short USI and SSTU are my base installations for Kerbal, not playing without them (and mechjeb ofcourse, can't live without mechjeb, mechjeb is life).
  12. btw, what's the difference between AMT? Just found that on your USI page.
  13. Please check your files, there are tons of copy(1) and copies of copies of the .cfg files in your dirs.
  14. That Apollo CM/CSM is just amazing!
  15. The other types don't have a fairings, only two versions. Weird thing is now it reaches down further, but just shy of the decoupler below it (on the laucnchpad it now connects and closes the gaps). Weird... Guess I just needed to cycle through the types.
  16. Minor bug on engine group fairing (I think). On the SC-ENG-J-2x4 group the fairing does not go all the way down. [IMG]http://dasher.nl/kerbal/sstu_01.jpg[/IMG]
  17. [quote][COLOR=#333333]Monoprop fuel selection -- Not sure what tanks you are referring to (all the custom tanks already include MP as a fuel type)? The Lander-Core tanks? (the only ones I can think of that are orange/lacking fuel switching)[/COLOR][/quote] [COLOR=#333333]Yep, those are the ones. I build setups like the Apollo CSM/Lander rigs and have a couple of modules from the lander range to get solar panels + LF + Ox + MP. Basically a unit like the SC-B-SM but with LF/Ox and a bit bigger. Hence the request for an MP tank version or the existing ones, or maybe a fuel switch on the SC-C-SM and no engine ;) Ooooohh, the possibilities. [/COLOR] [COLOR=#333333][quote]Slanted nosecone - Won't say yes, but can't say no either. Maybe in the future if I have the time (time is really what keeps me from implementing most things). Already thinking of reworking the SRBs a bit, so perhaps will add this in as I am working on them. Thought they already had a slanted nosecone style though?[/quote] The SRBs do indeed already have that option. It's just a cosmetic thing, but makes LF boosters look way cooler. [/COLOR] [quote][COLOR=#333333]Retro/Jettison motors - I likely won't be integrating them into fuel tanks. However, I have done a small bit of concept work on an 'advanced decoupler' that would include some of this functionality -- retro-rockets on the decouple stage, as well as ullage engines attached to the 'live stage', with a third set of retro-rockets for decoupling the decoupler.[/COLOR][/quote] [COLOR=#333333]Cool!!! You're one step further to what I had in mind. 2.21 here we come [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] [quote]Confused yet?[/quote] Nope, sick minds think alike [/COLOR]:P[COLOR=#333333] [/COLOR]
  18. This mod is freaking awesome and getting better every day. This should be standard parts in Kerbal, building rockets is a joy with these parts and it actually looks like a rockets and not a soap-box / toilet roll model kit like with the stock parts. Also looking forward to the capsule, I am in love with the FASA apollo one; it's one of the few parts I kept from the FASA mod after I started using SSTU. It's so shiny :) My only wishes :) - Monoprop fuel selection in the orange modular tanks (not just the small 50.0 mp tanks, but dedicated ones). As the main tanks have an MP selection I think it's only an added fuel switch option. I've modded my files for it, but perhaps it could be standard in a future release. - Slanted nose cone on liquid fuel tanks like those on the SRB that point towards the central main tank. /| |\ - Option on tank sections (or the decoupler itself) to have seperatron integrated like on the raidal decouplers but to push the tank away from the section above it when seperating. Keep up the good work, love your stuff.
  19. The only thing I needed to change was the nodes on the fuel-door thingies, the rest works. And also added Xenon/LF/Ox to the KA converter to match the fuel options to store in the asteroid. Only issue besides the nodes is that the jaws stop mining when you stop the game. [IMG]http://dasher.nl/kerbal/kerbal_03.jpg[/IMG]
  20. This stuff is fun, RoverDude... you should develop this further, perhaps combine with the Karbonite suite as it's only a handful of parts. Awesome work, as always :)
  21. Just captured a class E and will be sending up these things to test it :) I just love the idea of having a hollow asteroid as a fuel tank. Gonna make a interplanetary ship out of an asteroid and go to Duna with it ;)
