I love everything about this thread. Just like...literally everything. As Zapp Brannigan of Futurama once said; "Your obviously confused and aroused."

Hesitation to launch... checklist?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Whenever I feel I'm completely done designing a rocket I just scroll quickly through each group of parts one by one, If I've forgotten anything it usually "jumps" off the page at me. Thing I commonly forget: Lights Solar Panels Intakes for jet engines Parachutes -

How Do I get maneuvers tool?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to babatranxen's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes. You need level 2 mission control as well as level 2 tracking center. This should really be more clearly spelled out somewhere in the game. -
Service bay doors won't open in VAB
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Kelderek's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Use this and fly right inside it. (Yes, it works fine in the latest version.) I don't know how any one builds anything with the shoddy camera controls the game uses by default. -
Hyperthreading in 1.1
Rocket In My Pocket replied to TheUnamusedFox's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hyper threading has been around and in use for decades. If it hasn't caused a problem yet, I doubt it's going to any time soon. I don't think you have to lose any sleep over it. -
Well geez! Thanks a lot... I never noticed this before and now that you've pointed it out to me it's gonna drive me nuts. I'd imagine being a game about engineering rockets, most KSP players are at least a little bit OCD. This must be addressed immediately...for the mental health of the entire community!

Jebediah nearly ruined my birthday.
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Riftmann's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That was super cool of your sister. It says a lot about how close you guys are that she took the time to find out enough about one of your hobbies to make something special. Happy belated birthday! -
Best way to land on kerbin?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to subzerocro's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Meh, Having tried it both ways now I don't see much of a difference. The pod lands no problems with either method. Having SAS on stability assist the whole way down won't even drain the command pods built in battery so there really isn't any harm in it. To each his own I suppose, that little SAS light glowing just makes me feel better I suppose lol. -
Why can't I land a plane?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Jetski's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Definitely sounds like they are blocked, you can right click them on the launchpad or in flight to find out. It'll say "Gear Blocked: Yes/No." Try moving them away from other parts and further out from the body of the plane. The LY-01 is definitely the buggiest of the wheels currently in my experience. -
Why can't I land a plane?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Jetski's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Are these planes using a tricycle (2 gear just behind COM, 1 gear in nose) or tail dragger (2 gear just ahead of COM and 1 gear in the tail) landing gear setup? Do you have any reaction wheels? They could be flipping the plane when you are trying to hold the nose down. Do the landing gear say "blocked" at any point? Could be that the ground is pushing the suspension up into another part and causing them to lock up. -
Why can't I land a plane?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Jetski's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Can't say I've had this issue. Are you landing with the breaks on and set to 200 or something? Have you tweaked the friction settings perhaps? Whats your vertical/horizontal speed when landing? -
Reverting again (The problem with SRB's)
Rocket In My Pocket replied to SpacedCowboy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I gotta be honest, I never worry about it to much. I'd be far more likely to go back and adjust the number/type of SRB's before I tweaked the thrust settings. I'll admit, I'm impatient when it comes to rocket launches so I never mind having a TWR of 2.0 or higher. That said, I can't see how it would hurt to let you tweak it on the launch pad, so long as you can't tweak it once the craft has been launched. -
Rotating parts
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Cochise17's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Sounds like you are using a mod as there are no moving/rotating parts like that in stock. You'd have better luck asking for help in the relevant mod thread for whatever mod you are using. Best of luck. -
Tried loading it up, same things happens every time. Giant explosion. Even rebuilding the fairing several different ways didn't help. Some part of the ship always collides with it and explodes, despite never actually touching it or moving in any way. In the flight log I'm seeing some references to strut connectors colliding but I've looked the whole ship over and I don't see that you actually used any. I'm getting the feeling this has something to do with the invisible "auto-strutting" the fairings use. Only advice I can give you is to leave the fairing behind for now.
-
Works perfect for me. Haven't really had many issues or crashes at all. The only stand out bug I can think of is the command pod inside a fairing bug where your Kerbal gets stuck entering the door.

Sand temple
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Papahemmy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I agree with you in theory. But in practice, this is how it works. I'm sure if there was a clear and easy solution to this problem SQUAD would have implemented it long ago. -
Ship Crash
Rocket In My Pocket replied to TheidenHD's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Are you using any mods? Did it stop working when you updated the game? -
Sand temple
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Papahemmy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The terrain can be at different heights depending on what you have the terrain quality setting set to in the graphics options menu. So on lower settings sometimes the easter eggs are actually under the ground. Try changing that setting in the graphics options menu. -
Add KSC marker to map
Rocket In My Pocket replied to TheCardinal's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Wouldn't it be easiest to mark the actual flag at the KSC as a "flag" named "Kerbal Space Center?" I mean it's already a flag...why not just make it a "flag?" -
Keep this handy visual guide open and alt tab back and forth, following each step one at a time (I always forget who the heck made this): http://i.imgur.com/zAxhwQ5.png Here's another version of the same guide that seems to have more information, I learned using the one pictured above but this seems just as good if not better: http://i.imgur.com/h1QMVsT.png You can ignore the bit about the docking port mod, I've never used it personally. Once you are close enough to see your target, you shouldn't have too much trouble docking them together by eyeballing it. Just go slowly and carefully. Any other questions, please ask!

Wow, that's wild. Lol.

Shaking "you cannot save above surface" when docking
Rocket In My Pocket replied to subzerocro's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It's a bug where the game thinks you are moving over the ground still. A lot of the time it's caused by a discarded part that is still touching your ship in some way, like a decoupler or something that got caught. Are you using any mods? Have you tried quicksaving/quickloading? -
Wrong centre of mass
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Angezerus's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Jet engine's center of mass is always further behind them than it should be, this is to account for the actual engine bits we aren't seeing which are presumably tucked away inside your craft. Here's an example of what I'm talking about: Vs. This would be what's pushing your center of mass back towards your command pod. This is a "feature" not a "bug." However this effect can be used for fun and profit, like turning a jet engine upside down and placing it on a rover to push the center of mass below the ground making it extremely stable. -
I'm pretty sure the tree structure system would be a a lot of work to redesign or else they'd have done it by now. I certainly feel your pain though, using struts is a messy work around that adds a lot of drag, extra mass, and most importantly a bunch of additional parts to your part count. It's definitely a problem but I'm not sure it's one that will ever get fixed sadly.
