  1. You can turn Shadow cascades down to 1, you prolly won't even notice the difference visually. Pixel light count I'd set to at least 2, and Physics delta time should be at it's lowest "0.3". Really helpful, you should go into customer support. Seriously. You have a gift with people.
  2. Sounds like it's starting in an odd or unintended resolution and it's cutting part of the screen off. Try launching it via the launcher and setting the resolution in the options menu there. If that doesn't work you could also manually change them in the .cfg file. As far as the crashes I used to have the same problem on my older laptop, turning off the ground crew inside the buildings fixed it for me, give that a try.
  3. I wonder what the difference is that is causing some setups to get no performance increase at all, yet others are getting a very substantial one. I can't see any noticeable improvement in 1.1, and I can check them back to back since I kept my 1.0.5 install. Maybe someone should start a poll so we can correlate system specs to performance gains. (or lack thereof)
  4. You must not ever watch the history channel. No one is in any danger of not knowing what happened back then and no one is advocating "sweeping it under the rug." All were saying is it would be in poor taste to fly their flag, and it would be disrespectful to all who suffered in that conflict, before and after.
  5. Oh, my bad. I saw the IMac 27" bit and jumped to conclusions. In my experience the 3 most major settings you can turn down to improve frame rate in KSP are: Pixel light count, Shadow cascades, and Physics delta time.
  6. I totally agree, If a WW2 game has an option to play as the Germans, I always find it to be a very interesting experience. It's a nice change of pace to not play as the "good guys" for once. (Not that there weren't good people in Germany at that time.) I think it's definitely a "Morbid Curiosity" or possibly even an ego trip if you are cast in the role of an all powerful dictator, we all like to imagine how we would conquer the world given our own country I think.
  7. Bummer, hopefully someone who has a crossfire setup can help you out, Best of luck!
  8. I think your card should be fine, your specs seem plenty good enough for KSP. Considering it's a laptop, does it have an integrated card? You should check in your graphics cards options and make sure KSP is using the better card. I'm not very familiar with Macs though so I'm not terribly helpful in that regard.
  9. It may also be a classic case of Squad not wanting to "overwhelm" new players with too many systems at once. Slowly introducing the idea of action groups to a newer player does have merit. Seems like the only people who want custom action groups from the start are the players who are more experienced, I say make it an option when you start your career game. We already have loads of options to tweak it to our liking, I can't see the harm in a few more.
  10. Yes, it will limit your FPS to a portion of your monitors refresh rate in order to reduce "screen tearing." You will get a higher FPS without it but it will fluctuate more. That said, I use a Radeon card as well, and I haven't seen much if any noticeable improvement in performance in 1.1 either. Also, I seem to get the same FPS regardless of playing on the lowest settings compared to the highest so it's prolly a CPU issue.
  11. From the KSP launcher have you gone into the furthest tab to the right? (I think it says "advanced" or something.) There is an option for "AMD compatibility mode" I have no idea what it does, I use an AMD card as well and have tried playing with it checked/unchecked but I see no difference. My card doesn't use crossfire though, so maybe that's what it's for?
  12. I think this is a pretty touchy subject lately, especially here in the states in regards to the Confederate flag. Personally I don't have a problem with people flying whatever colors they like but... Anything with a "Swastika" on it I would definitely consider to be in poor taste.
  13. Here's the two part files in question: They both say Physics Significance = 1 Is 1 on or off though?
  14. I played the game for a long, long, embarrassingly long time before I even realized action groups existed. I made a lot of complicated crafts like VTOL's and controlled them without realizing such shortcuts were available. (Switching from horizontal to vertical flight takes some quick fingers! Lol.) Plus, the VAB is like one of the first things you are going to upgrade and it's not terribly expensive. If you are building something that needs all these custom action groups but still using the level 1 VAB...I'm not sure what's going on?
  15. I mean, even if you download the .craft file from someone else, you are still "paying for it" with in game money when you launch it just like any other craft. You want an additional charge on top of the parts cost? I'm not sure how that improves the game? That said, an in game collection of player made vessels that are rated by the community and can be used sounds like a great idea.
  16. Honestly not seeing a huge performance increase either. Pair that with all the bugs and glitches... Kind of disappointing.
  17. Clearly she was added after the image was already made. Her visor doesn't even have the same yellowish tint that the others do. However, if you are implying some sort of chauvinism on Squads part, I think you are reading into it a little bit too much. (To be perfectly frank we don't even know that Kerbal's have a gender, Just because Val has a pony tail and slightly feminine features doesn't prove she's biologically different in any meaningful way.)
  18. According to the KSP wiki: As of 1.0.5, scientists do not boost the amount of science gained from recovering experiments. They also provide no bonus from transmitting data, although the green text makes it look like they do. They can, however, increase the amount of science generated per day in the Mobile Processing Lab MPL-LG-2. As of 1.0, scientists are able to restore inoperable experiment modules while on EVA.
  19. Classic keyboard and mouse. Not even nice ones either, just whatever Dell sent for free with my computer. Seeing my friends waste hundreds of dollars on custom 300 button mice with a million dpi always makes me laugh. As my grandfather would say; "Great tools can't make you a great carpenter."
  20. Probably not. I'd wager the "lighting" you see has nothing to do with the "sun" you see just like every other video game. It's all smoke and mirrors. Pay no attention to the man behind that curtain.
  21. Yeah, I'm trying hard not to play until 1.1 comes out so I can start a new career game that will feel "fresh" if you know what I mean. However I find I can't stay away entirely and I often fire KSP up to build some kind of silly contraption or test an idea. I really hope 1.1 get's released soon, I'm ready to devote some serious play time and try to reach a few planets I've never been to!
  22. Great video, really interesting! Now I want to try and ride that bike!
  23. I've seen this as well. I don't use any editor mods besides WASD camera. I wish I had a pic but I saw it most recently when trying to build a space tower with launch camps, I placed 2 struts with mirror symmetry from the clamp to the lander can pod and one of them ended up facing out and away once the vessel was loaded. Still seemed to work as it should though.
  24. "If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing." -Chuck Yeager
  25. 2nd class citizens? More like 1st world problems.
