  1. I need this. Can't believe you are the first member (That I know anyway) that built one. It's beautiful. ME
  2. All these were over the KSC. ME
  3. Yes it is, well done and welcome to the forum. ME
  4. I don't quite remember if I landed first try. I think not. I remember an overly-over-designed lander. But I do remember that after the landing I was astonished and exhausted. ME
  5. Hi. What does "Going to Minmus" mean? Flyby? Orbit? Manned Kerballed? Landing? Return? ME
  6. @The Aziz mentionned the Kaken as a source of energy speed. I once cheated myself in low Jool orbit so I could try to land on it.... The kraken exploded my ship to punish my audacity. This is one of the parts. ME
  7. Yes. When parts are undocked and touching they are actually individual ships flying in formation. With slightly different orbits. If you were to warp time while at your station you would see the individual parts phase through each other until they are clear of each other or until you stop the warp and see them mesh (Collide) and explode. ME
  8. Thanks, I already have an SSTO that can do the trip. I would also like another ruling. No chair. Means none whatsoever (Sometime it's because spending months in a chair is cruel). However I would like a chair lander on a clean slate attempt. ME
  9. Well, I was hoping for an answer, vague memory, but I went looking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU2e06IErU8 I really like that Lander-hover car. ^^^^^^^^^^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLqZNaB3130 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQMWTVd-QTM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz30kObLChg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI0Ad6gTgXQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8hGp4K2Kqs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgtstJ995HQ ME
  10. Hi. This as been bothering me for a while. Can we get Petals on the docking ports? Would make them look more like the Russian equipment as well as the International Docking Adaptor" IDA. As a bonus it might help for those pesky alignment issues when building in space. I guess it might be an issue with the magnets when docking at an angle or misalign exactly offset. Probably there are more issues than I can imagine. Maybe make the petals retractable or an option when building? Akin to the shrouds of engines. Or maybe a new type altogether. Bonus that gives us a new way to mismatch docking ports on ships and fail a mission. Anyway thank for reading this and the good work. ME Edit: I am reading about current RL in use docking ports and am now totally confused about their looks and compatibilities. Starting to think that I got my idea of petals on Soviet equipment due to the Apollo-Soyuz adaptor...Which beget others which beget the IDA....Or something along those lines.
  11. Wasn't there someone that had an orbiting ship orbit right true the Mun-arch? ME
  12. Hey all. Today, I get a contract to do a rendez-vous around Minmus. Can do. Get a contract to save A kerbal from Minmus surface. Can do. So I launch 2 ships in successions. One commanded by Jeb the other by Val. We will do science from Minmus. Always need more science. Load a scientist in each. Can't miss an upgrade right? Get them in tandem to minmus, do the encounter. All good. Jeb goes on a very low orbit and target our stranded friend. Goes overhead and brakes for all he is worth. Then Jeb ask "Where will buddy ride"? No compartment for him. Jeb decided to have him ride externally. The contract is to get him to Kerbin. He will trade place with the scientist and get to kerbin. Our now spitting mad Science-Guy will remain in orbit of Minmus or be left in a safe orbit of Kerbin..... I saved and stopped playing in disgust. I will figure out a better oucome......I'm sure. ME
  13. Hi. Some mods will work even if not they aren't upgraded. My potato can't take too much of anything. For me 1.6 runs fine....if I don't look at anything. The only mod I have is MechJeb. I get a warning but it seems to work perfecly. ME
  14. Hey all here is my attempt. I went looking at pictures of my lightest attempt in 1.1. Then improved it. Wet weight before loading a Kerbal is 2.088. Kerbals weight another 90kg. The only battery is the one that powers MechJeb. 5 units. Same as a regular Probe Core but much lighter. Sorry no sound. I have to look into that. It could be improved a bit by removing some fuel and having the Kerbal push to orbit then push to de-orbit. But I am not going there. For me pushing is something you do when you mess up. Like turning a ship so a solar panel can get some rays. Or that ultimate 10 delta-V to make it into the atmosphere. IMO. ME
  15. Yes they can escape the Sun. Of course they will never leave the SOI as there are no other SOI further on. ME
  16. Il like it. Just love minimalistic designs. But why the docking port? In the past I have had a Kerbal take-off with insufficient fuel from the the Mun. Ditch the craft establish themselves in orbit by RCS then doing a rendez-vous, If the fuel can't quite do a rendez-vous then the orbiting return ship does before the last gram of propellant is expended. ME
  17. I had wondered about having a satellite falling in and out of two SOI. But I thought it was impossible in the game........ So is that a Halo orbit? I love it and will steal the design for evaluation. ME
  18. Hi @Mars-Bound Hokie Here is my entry. I played in sandbox. Hired 8 crew then edited the file to make them into Tourists. The ship has a probe core, Communotron, 8 Tourist, cost 85,350 Rooots. Went to the Mun, Minmus, came back. Thanks for the challenge is was a bit harder than I though I was good...... In retrospect I should have done Minmus first. The landing portion having a high CofG. ME
  19. Good catch. It does seem like you are the first to see that. My understanding of that. Is that as the wave propagate the core blocks the energy and cast a shadow on the opposite side. The waves (Not orderly as the crust varies in thickness/shape/slopes and the magma varies in density) that misses the core are reflected (Around the core) by the crust and refocused on the antipode. Refocused but we are not talking "Laser focussed". The opposite side should be more like a melted/re-congealed crust. Unlike the ring with a peak in the middle that we have on Kerbin. ME
  20. Congrats. I have myself done some pretty wicked stuff that made me feel good. But like golf its doing it again that is really frustrating. You might not bring it back to Kerbin but just keeping in the SOI means refuelling missions. You are almost there. ME
  21. Hi. Good point. I never thought of "What is it"? I always imagined it as being kerosene, diesel, jp-4 or something like that. Like most people I have used LF tanks past Eeloo. I guess that IRL that would make for a tank full of paraffin (Think white candle wax). Quite unusable. We also don't use ullage motors in the game (To bring the fuel to the bottom end of the tank). Don't they all use ullage motor? Even a liquefied gas would need to be picked up by the turbo pumps. As far as I know the Helium is just a non-reactive way to replace the volume lost by removing fuel. Not a way to keep it "Down there". ME
  22. Congrat on docking. It is a steep learning curve. The worst one is learning to move in EVA me think. Maybe they are just as bad. As for pictures. No, I do not believe you can upload to this forum. We don't have a portfolio that I am aware of. You must upload to some photo storage site. I use Imgur. Not perfect but you can link to it. ME
