Congrats. I have myself done some pretty wicked stuff that made me feel good. But like golf its doing it again that is really frustrating. You might not bring it back to Kerbin but just keeping in the SOI means refuelling missions. You are almost there. ME

More liquid fuel (only) tanks
Martian Emigrant replied to Behemot's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hi. Good point. I never thought of "What is it"? I always imagined it as being kerosene, diesel, jp-4 or something like that. Like most people I have used LF tanks past Eeloo. I guess that IRL that would make for a tank full of paraffin (Think white candle wax). Quite unusable. We also don't use ullage motors in the game (To bring the fuel to the bottom end of the tank). Don't they all use ullage motor? Even a liquefied gas would need to be picked up by the turbo pumps. As far as I know the Helium is just a non-reactive way to replace the volume lost by removing fuel. Not a way to keep it "Down there". ME -
Congrat on docking. It is a steep learning curve. The worst one is learning to move in EVA me think. Maybe they are just as bad. As for pictures. No, I do not believe you can upload to this forum. We don't have a portfolio that I am aware of. You must upload to some photo storage site. I use Imgur. Not perfect but you can link to it. ME

Sadly I didn't get his salary that day. But in time I did get his JOB! ME

Chuckles. That reminds me of a story. I once was copilot on a business jet with another guy (The Captain) that had the same name as me (Unrelated if only by a gazillion generations). When filling the logbook I decided not to put in our middle initials. More fun that way. ME

High-Occupancy Mun Lander Challenge
Martian Emigrant replied to Mars-Bound Hokie's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I am on this. ME -
Irwin Allen was famous for being cheap (Did I say 'Cheap"? I meant really, really cheap) and recycling stuff (Costumes, decors, clips, file footage, rejected pilots, you name it. he used it) from all is past productions. ME
-
Oh no. B-Movie. Memory coming back....Horrorrible. Flying sub, atom-powered-submarine, bad acting, Irwin Allen. ME
-
I had seen pictures of "The barn" before but not the other stuff. I love the sandbags and the motorhomes. Bring it all back. ME

Nail, plant seems to be the same word in Russian. I know that one. That's how the apprentice became the new blacksmith. The version I was taught included "As hard as you can". ME
-
Funny that you remember that Ore trick. I thought that was gone in the "Mists of times". I was thinking recently about that as I have been looking for something to do and was entertaining the idea of making subs again. And learn how to edit textures in KSP. That or learn to use kOS. So little time. So much to know. ME

I hadn't made an SSTO with the pointy MK1 cockpit in a while and now I remember why....They blow up. Have to climb steeper, re-entry is finicky, return from a Mun impossible without Aerobraking first or getting into LKO first.... Started playing with radiators. Not sure if that will make a difference and they are ugly.... Long ago we could put an antenna on the nose. The cockpit was protected being behind. Now they bust in the wind..... Don't know. There is trials to be done. ME
-
I like your SSTO. Very Concord like. Very SST SSTO if you will. There might be an attempt to copy it....Errr.....be inspired by it. Exploding flags. I get them all the time. You plant them do a save and when you reload they are floating in the air. They don't settle to the surface after reloading. Then when you leave or jump to another ship far enough the flag "Collides with the Mun" or Duna, ETC. I think it as to do with them being "Far" but within physic range and they remember they are in the air. My last frustrating one was planting one at the foot of the Mun arch so I could guide ships directly to it. And then its gone. Arrrg.. ME

Hey all. Landed a gaggle of Kerbals on Eeloo. Bill built a Mega-Structure. And Jeb had to stand on the edge of course. ME

What is your most facepalm-worthy moment regarding KSP?

Jettison Resources Please!!!
Martian Emigrant replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hi guy, gals and kerbals. I played around with the files and produced this as proof of concept: I went to space to show that there is no thrust but forgot to reopen the NavBall. I am pleased that the file organization is pretty much the way I imagined. It looks like an engine could use any resource. Burn Ore or Electricity looks possible. I have no idea on how to sleek this up how to publish it and if it's allowed, so it is just for my own education. ME -
Jettison Resources Please!!!
Martian Emigrant replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yes, you are correct. No insult was meant. Apology given fully without restrictions. It is a desirable option for designers. One that could/should be added to the game. I have flown small business jets that did and some that didn't. As well as medium sized commercial airliners that didn't at all. I understand that the Falcon 9 dumps gases after touchdown to secure the booster. The stock part or the mod could have the look of the External Fuel Ducts. But could be staged like an engine, have an exhaust (Plume), have a burn rate like an engine with no thrust nor heat....(Well maybe in space we should have a small thrust). Come to think of it that would give you the look of outgassing on the ground If only I were smart enough to dig into the files and make one. ME -
Hey all Kerballovers. Nelan as been flight testing the Viper-X. A modified variant of the Viper with two cockpits a docking port and fuel mining equipment. Flies well enough in atmosphere. A rarity for something I build with wings. But then Bill did help me. Good autonomy. Best Spaceplane I have built yet. Can comfortably get to Minmus from the KSP. From there she got it to Ike then Duna. A last minute add-on was MechJeb.....Right on the only ladder by the only available hatch.....Grrrrr-!@#$%?&*(). But they did get back in....Eventually. From Duna back to Kerbin with fuel to spare. Enough for a Rendez-vous with the HighLab. Amazing. Nelan is thinking of doing a Grand Tour with it. She might ask but then she does have the spare keys...... ME

Gas Planet 2? Poll
Martian Emigrant replied to KSPACE's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It means that I am me. And stands for Martian Emigrant. Just a light joke. I find it lightly funny. Amusing. Not serious at all. ME -
Gas Planet 2? Poll
Martian Emigrant replied to KSPACE's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That would be the Plateau colony. On Mount Lookitthat in the Tau Ceti system.. A Gift from Earth by Larry Niven https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Gift_from_Earth ME -
Gas Planet 2? Poll
Martian Emigrant replied to KSPACE's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
A ring planet would be nice. A tilted planet would be nice. How about a moon with a soupy atmosphere? Can't see nothing. land under instrument. Kerbal getting lost in the fog.... ME -
Jettison Resources Please!!!
Martian Emigrant replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hi. A good desirable option. Maybe at a price (A part, a mass, a drag) by adding say a spigot on a tank (Or two, one for LOX, one for LF). That would add a slight cost and some flexibility. You could assign a button to toggle it. As for "All aircraft", well, no. Aircraft still have to burn fuel to do a "Quick" return to the airport (When actual weight is over the maximum landing weight). A fuel dump capability adds more maintenance check (More cost) for something rarely needed on a commercial airliner. An aircraft might need such a thing on take-off if it can't climb with the lost of an engine. Not happening much with modern, reliable, OP engines. Plus (It does happen) imagine say an A380 like aircraft accidentally dumping on the ramp in say JFK. Nightmare on more than one level. If they can get the aircraft certified without then it doens't have one. Even an aircraft that can dump will take a few (Or more than a few) minutes. It as to do with the size of the valve and the size of the tank. ME EDIT: Adding a plume of fuel from the spigot would be a cool visual. -
Hi, Moderator do as you please with this as it might not be in the right place. The bug was found by Nelan while flight testing the latest Viper. The CiraNose. Two cockpit, one Kerbal Use the Interior Overlay and get to see same. Go to Map Mode, come back and only the occupied cockpit is shown. Thanks. If it's already known...Well cool. ME

Hi. Sometime we have excess (Or Shortage) Liquid Fuel vs the Oxidizer in say a space plane. Could we have a small line in said resource to show the excess at a glance. Akin to the one we have on the burn indicator that shows where the staging will occur. Would help those of us who are calculator impaired in figuring how much more or less to take next time. Or when transferring fuel at a station. Thanks, ME

I always thought that a Kerbal colliding with the doors should take you "inside" the appropriate building as if you clicked the building from the "Space Center view". It would be a nice (Easter-Egg-Like) shortcut for recovering them. ME
