I cheated myself in low Jool orbit cause I never have been in the atmosphere before. I was still flying (On multiple parachutes) not at all below the surface or anything like that. Then when I dropped the heatshield the probe disintegrated. Go figure ME

Hey Kerbal-philes. Today. Today I broke the game. ME

Hey all. I did it again. Went to look at the "Starman" in his car. Drifting away from the Earth. And my right hand reached for the arrows on my keyboard and tried to rotate the car around so I could see the other side and a better view of the Earth. Too much KSP obviously. Anybody else care to admit to it? ME

Yeah, I noticed the wheels being so far in the wells too. And that you can see right through them. It wouldn't do if the wheels turned with all the vibrations. There is no steering mechanism. Have you ever been in a car that rolled over? That's only one G. The s*** that comes out of the carpets is amazing. Same with an aircraft that pulls a few negative Gs. It looked clean but it wasn't. There are no carpets with the dirt from Ellon's shoes in there. Any loose washer lost inside the car that could come out.... Yeah, a shell. If you don't see it then it ain't there. Agreed. Cool show. Hi. I am not sure that the Roadster is actually drivable. I would not bet that it is. I would definitively bet that it is not. The car is a joke of course but it's also a PR thing. If I were an engineer assigned to bolting it to a rocket I would remove anything that "Might" throw a wrench into the works. Anything at all that will make the launch fail as got to get out. I do not know that the actual power cell from a Tesla have been tested in space. Out it goes. Does it have vents? Does it use some airflow cooling? Liquids, grease that will leak, boil or freeze? Refreeze elsewhere? GONE Airbags? Pyrotechnic never tested in space. GONE. Windshield washer? Might boils, spill, pee on the windshield and ruin the photo op, leak and corrode something. Anything. GONE Air in the tires? Might be OK. Maybe not. GONE Replace the air with nitrogen. Why? GONE (I think the tires are solid or more likely they are glued in place and have no valve stems). Could the "Starman's" harness unlatch pulling Gs at that angle? Maybe. Bolt it in. Brake fluids? Gone for all the above reasons. Can the front axle take the max forecasted G force? Weld, reinforce, replace. Could the doors, bagage compartment open? Make sure it doesn't. Thrust me. That car isn't drivable-usable on any road. ME

Micro-Engineering Challenge

Hey there. This is a blast from my past. https://imgur.com/a/qkqjA The album is a bit messed up but mostly in order. 24 tonne, 41 part. Goes to orbit on it's own. Must do it's first refuel on Minmus. One Kerbal. 16 worlds. Sample pictures. ME- 12 replies

Hey there all Kerbolides. My crew as left Laythe. After doing a simulation were they went direct Eeloo they found the ship to lack a few hundred Delta-V. So they went to Pol for some fuel. Val planted the second flag (Second time on Pol). Nobody else wanted to get out. Bill and Bob were having a heated game of Pong. Jeb was waiting to take on the winner. As soon as they had mined enough to fill all the tanks they left for Eeloo They got to Eeloo a short 6 years later. They have now landed on every moon and planets of the system. (Well, not Eve but they did probe it). (Oh and not Jool.) (Coulda, shoulda probed it) Except one. They haven't landed on Kerbin yet. Let's see how that will work out. Falling from the edge of the system. 40 years on the ship clock. ME

Hey Kerbylovevers. My crew as now departed Pol. Proceeded direct to Laythe. Ended up in a very much polar orbit. T'was OK since it turned out they were so very heavy. Testing showed they could come in forward or backward. The result was the same. They could stabilize in the lower atmosphere and then explode on touchdown. So burning fuel was A-O-K. I had all (Well most) the LF in two tanks. I could stabilize the ship on entry and flying by moving fuel around the three centre tanks. While they were busy planting the flag and taking pictures Bill said "Hey guys, Bertha is sliding down the hill". Bill broke an antenna running after the ship. Plenty of redundant antennas. They left with full fuel for Vall. The last moon unvisited on this trip. Jeb planted the flag on Vall but everyone else was keeping an eye on Bertha. Next stop is Eeloo. 33 years on the clock. ME

They are Kerbals. They don't do things quite like like us. A different outlook on risk taking. The aerospace industry is totally unregulated and they have a lot of failed start up Cies. Space is hard and cost money. They go bankrupt after a single launch. How do you think that Jeb keeps is scrapyard so full? But there is always another Kerbal that dreams to be the one to make it big. They launch from backyards, schools playgrounds, churches and malls parking lots. Don't worry about the rescue you didn't do. Another start up got them back....And went bankrupt. Of course nobody wants to rescue your own cause you are in favor with the Government. ME

Shuttles are hard. Why the air intake? Does it have air breathing engines? Or are they providing lift for reentry? ME

Longest craft in orbit

The album isn't there for me. ME -
Hey there all Kerbolites. Finaly. Last I time I bragged I Reported that my crew was on Duna. Since then they were able to leave Duna direct to, not worth reporting, Dres. From there they waited a few years then proceeded to Jool. Went to Bop first. Seemed logical at the time. Then Tylo About Tylo They were too heavy to land and did a lot of altitude change to burn excess fuel. Barely worked. Shouda burned a little more. Once there the crew remembered that there was a discussion on Kerbing before departure about putting a ladder. Just in case. Turned out to be a false scare. Bill easily climbed on top and closed the bay so they could walk on it. Leaving was difficult. Something like 20 really bad simulations. They had to taxi 40km to find a suitable hill.Too much fuel prevented getting to orbit. Not enough meant staying in orbit. A case of more is too much and too less isn't enough. They eventually made orbit with an optimized 1700 DeltaV. Which turned out to be enough. To my surprise. The leaving orbit, injection to Pol and orbiting left 600 deltaV to land on Pol. Plenty. Next Laythe. They have been on the road for 26 years. ME

I hate tylo. ME

Huhhh....They work. They hold fuel and they hardly don't leak. ME

Hey there all you hardcore Kerbabiles. Yesterday (Technically it took THEM more than one day but you know what I mean) my merry crew left Moho and did a not worth publishing technical stop on Gilly. From there they made their way to Ike. They were too heavy for the landing and had to burn some LF first. 8 Once down They partied they mined fuel. They picked enough to feed the RAPIERs and get a strong TWR for the Duna landing. No suicide burn here. The idea is to slow down early and avoid aerodynamic effects. More rocketry less problematic lift. Piece of cake. They all had a large piece. Bill had to show off and do a Big-Navy-Salute. They will get themselves a good load of propellant and proceed to Dres. Mun-Done Minmus-Done Eve-Probed Gilly-Twice Moho-Done Ike-Done Duna-Done Dres-next in line. I have to confirm that Bertha can get to orbit with a full load of fuel. If not there is always Ike. ME

Heyho all. Today I landed the usual suspects on Moho in an SSTO. On this trip so far our now famous crew as taken Bertha to the Mun, Minmus, splashed a probe on EVE, tasted Gili and now landed on Moho. They have been on the road for 3 years so far. They’ve played thousands of hands of cards. They are out of chocolate ice cream (Someone as been sneaking into the fridge). Nobody can beat Bob at Pong. All is well with the ship. Testing as shown that Bertha is Tylo capable. Yes. No testing was done for Duna but Bill says it should work..... ME

Eve is a Harsh mistress. ME

That reply is also making me feel old. When Lost in space was cancelled Neil Armstrong wasn't the man in the moon yet. I Got out of high school when disco and the Bee Gees were it. ME

The panel do charge when warping if they are facing the sun. BUt as you start orbiting the other way panels that were in the sun now are blocked. So when you start a multi year warp you can be in the sun but when you come out of warp the batteries are dead. No SAS, no Com ME

I don't know how old you are but that makes me feel old cause I know exactly where that comes from. Not the specific of the episode but still... ME

Congratulation....Poor Bob. I feel responsible. I guess you have realized that you can't warp with a Kerbal as external cargo. He is a second ship with it's own orbit. He will phase though the walls and drift away. ....Plus you can't reload is propellant. Finding Duna on a caveman salary is amazing. I can't even to begin thinking how you did that. Bravo, well done, ME

Yes, but I don'T like putting panels on the underside of a landed probe or the re-entry side of an SSTO ME

Hey Kerbalites. Today I Jeb and Bob did a space trial of the fetter Storch. Named by Wernher von Kerman. Jeb doesn't like that name. He called it Edna. Something about is first date....I don't know any more than that. He was kinda rambling at that point. The ship still need a bit more fuel capacity for Moho. Then need to prove Tylo capable. It was but I fiddled with it since. Now I don't know no more. ME

Hey all. It happened again I warped and the ship was in that one orientation where the panels are in the shade resulting in a dead ship. Could we get some way for the ship to orient itself to position a "Master Panel" in the sun bellow say 10% or 10 units or open to sugestions. It could be done with special intelligent panels. Maybe a new improved probe core that would open new items on the solar panel menu. <Solar Panel Override Control Wheels> <Below> <10%>. IDK. Whatever make sense. Thanks, ME

Making History & 1.4 Image Preview Collection
Martian Emigrant replied to Tyko's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It's like playing with toys. The current ships are kind of American but not really. The Russian inspired ships should be Russian but not really either. I would say let's have a few Chinese inspired ones but they are inspired by Russian hardware....Same difference. ME
