That's like what I did, except I kept overdoing it, and kept overdoing it, until I turned it into a tradition. It's funny, but designing large craft just comes naturally to me. I don't do sloppy overkill, I'd like to think that all my stuff is well designed, it certainly works very well. It just turns out that they are capable of doing so much more than their original purpose. For example, I designed a VTOL SSTO for hauling stuff to orbit, and it turned out to be capable of visiting several planets as well without refueling. It had like 13k of delta-v upon reaching orbit with the sloppiest trajectory I could think up. Now that's overkill. My tanks turned out to be capable of taking out entire armadas. My Leviathan can take out the universe. ... Okay, fine! I admit that last one is just lag.

What do you mean? If you mean cheaper versions of craft already submitted, then I highly doubt it. At least I hope not. Cause just like in the real world, that would essentially mean that the ideas were stolen then produced for cheaper, taking away the original manufacturer's market, publicity, and influence, and keeping it for yourself. Now you can try to compete with your own original ideas, and that's fine, but please don't take others' hard work. So please please please tell me it doesn't mean what I think it does. The only way this could be okay in the real world is if the original manufacturer asked you to improve on their designs. If you mean something else, then I'm afraid that I have no idea what you mean. Could you please enlighten me?

We've been through this whole protest at least twice now, and the last time, I had to put this idiotic "we don't have a share in SQUAD so we have no business discussing this" thing out of our misery, and frankly, I'm sick and tired of people resurrecting this dead horse! But, clearly, killing it twice is not enough, so here goes another one. Just like a zombie apocalypse . Third time's a charm, they say. The basic principles of free speech dictate that people have the right to say whatever the heck they want, without fear. All posters in this thread are well within their rights to say whatever they want. That doesn't make the statements correct or the demands legitimate by default. So people can ask whatever they want, and nobody has the right to stop them. (But oh how I wish I did sometimes). On the other hand, SQUAD is not required to answer their clamoring, no matter how loud they get. Honestly, it's very likely to be the wisest choice, as no matter what they say, people are certain to find a negative way to interpret it. You would not believe how hard people cling to their rumors, no matter what anybody says. Short version: Both parties are well within their rights. You are not. Ironic, isn't it? Weren't you just accusing a bunch of people of exceeding the limits of their rights? And as you probably noticed, I'm a bit annoyed that I have to kill this dead horse again. And yeah, I know, I shouldn't be. I'll calm down soon enough. So why are you perpetuating it? No offense, but honestly, your post only serves to stir the coals of an already dying fire. If you had left well enough alone, the fire would not be this hot now. Controversy, rumors, and wild speculation are already dying down. The fewer who post, the fewer who perpetuate the situation. Please, just let this controversy die, and once it is good and dead, SQUAD will then feel freer to provide answers. Sigh. Okay. I got it outta my system. Please do not make me kill this thing again. I agree with the moderators. This thing is blown way out of proportion, and the best thing to do is let it blow over. My sincere apologies if I offended anyone. Also, please keep in mind the original intention of this thread, as stated in the OP.

I don't think that's entirely true. Just because some have stooped to deplorable depths doesn't mean that the whole thread is a joke. All of those haters have been corrected, and had their myths debunked. Some even listened. So on the whole, I think this thread helps promote rationality.

A few people got derailed, basically. Let's get back on topic, please, people! If you mean me, then you're welcome. I like to think that it would have been worse if I hadn't, but that's just a silly fantasy.

Most certainly apologies are due towards @RoverDude, as I have said before. I have also said that people have the right to inquire into whatever the heck they want, and SQUAD has the right to ignore them. So why are we still heatedly bickering over this?

So I woke up this morning and made the pleasant discovery that I had over 150 new posts to read. Ugh. Just finished, and I have a few things to say in light of the recent and heated debate. I fully expect to have many disagree with this, at least if you don't read the whole post. So please hear me out, and whatever you do, whatever your opinion, please DO NOT get all up in arms about it. So people are arguing over whether or not we even have the right to be discussing this. To be fair, if we apply the ideal of free speech that most nations uphold in general, yes we all do. The right to free speech, at its most fundamental level, gives people the right to say whatever they want. Hold back the hate for just a second, though. People are incorrect in assuming that no one has the right to discuss this. However, this does not mean that it's a good idea to discuss it. It also does not mean that SQUAD has an obligation to respond or anything like that, no matter what the clamor. People can say whatever the heck they want, and no one should try to stop them, but who said the rest of the world had to listen? IMHO, SQUAD has every right to remain silent, and honestly, that's the best thing to do right now. Also, if I were in SQUAD's position, the more rudely people clamor for information, the less I'd feel obliged to give it. So how's about we calm down and get civilized? To be perfectly honest, if you want info, the best way to get it is to address the situation with maturity. Another thing that's kind of hard to say is that I've noticed a trend over the last hundred posts. People are very confused and sometimes angry. They want answers. But also, so many people have been promoting rumors on this thread, this thread intended to promote facts. This leads to highly emotional, and ineffective debate. If people don't start calming down, and taking a much more rational view of things, then I'm sorry, I'll have to ask a moderator to close this thread. And I do not say that lightly. Frankly, this is the biggest thread I've ever started. And I like that. But I don't like what I've been seeing recently. If we don't calm down, then we don't need to discuss this. I'm not applying to get this closed down yet, and I really don't want to, but I will if I have to. So calm down! This thread is for debunking rumors. Noted.

Okay, here's a wild idea: How about we all calm down? @RoverDude, we are almost all on your side here. @Andem, I think RoverDude is well within his rights, as is SQUAD. I think we're all capable of civilized discourse. Everyone else, let's not pile on RoverDude. His mods are among the best, and his behavior throughout the discussion has been (mostly) impeccable. Making this thread was simultaneously the best and worst decision of my forum career. It was good, because it helped me set things straight at least in my own mind, and try to refute the worst rumors I saw. Never have I posted something so widely appreciated (or so it seems to be appreciated). And yet, never have I ever come under such scathing criticism as is here. I find myself being accused of meddling in internal affairs, to ruining @RoverDude's career, to being a hater. Wow! I'm just one guy trying to stop the most harmful rumors! I did my homework, at least what I could do without being sworn to silence, and posted my results. I honestly don't know what to think. Should I apply to have this thread deleted, or leave it up? I'm kind of overwhelmed, I have to confess. Help, I guess?

Personally, @RoverDude, I'm thinking you're in the right here. For what it's worth, and it's not much, I know how bad it feels to be under huge and unkind scrutiny, and I want to support you. Ohhh I wish you could correct my OP! I want the true facts to get out. I sympathize greatly with the feeling of sheer helpless frustration that comes from not being able to respond to grossly inaccurate information when stakes are high. I'll add a sentence to take it with a grain of salt, though.

How many Devs are there now? I ask merely for accuracy's sake, because I've heard several different numbers down, and I want the OP to be as accurate as possible. I understand if you cannot say. If so, I will change the number of Devs to be a 'rumor'. Heaven knows we need more of those! (not sarcasm at all)

Okay, so please do elaborate where I mis-classified something as 'fact' or 'rumor'. Seriously. I want the OP to be an accurate representation of what was said, as well as correctly filtering out the facts from the speculation, so that we know where we stand in order to put harmful rumors and behavior to death. That's why the censorship rumor is still there. First, because it is a very serious accusation that was made in what seems to be a diliberate attempt to badmouth SQUAD. Second, it is listed as a rumor to reassure those fearful of tinfoil hat situations that there is no evidence (that I am aware of) for this. Anyone who saw me post early on in this mess knows I was concerned by the idea of censorship. I want to alleviate the concerns of others. While the male cow excrement element of this may be obvious to some, we may not assume that everyone will see it. Also, I feel obligated to point out that actually censorship is technically a reserved right in the rules. If you like, I can quote it. So just because no one presents evidence of censorship does not and cannot infer that censorship is not happening. So I cannot leave it out in good conscience. But the lack of evidence leads me to strongly believe that it is a rumor, so I listed it as such. I do not believe I am promoting conspiracy theories. If anything, I'm trying to debunk them. Which is why accuracy is imperative. The only way to dissolve lies is to respond with facts, and call the lies out for what they are. With all due respect, no one is forcing you to post here or even read this thread. You do not need to force yourself to watch if you believe I am acting unwisely. Thank you for your opinion. But we will still have 1.2! I, for one, plan to stockpile several copies of it (around five) as well as my favorite mods. Also, this update gives mods plenty of time to improve and catch up! There is a bright side too. What is happening now is concerning, true, but there is considerable speculation about it that arguably increases the concern. As I like to say, you can't look at the whole cloud without seeing the silver lining. Off to watch Markiplier to relax....

Fun fact: I just followed the job ad on the main forum page, and it seems like they're looking for every possible game dev position. I wonder why?

From the looks of things, 1.2 could very well be the last update for a while, so that means no rush at all. Which means better quality all around! Yay!!
