Welcome to the community 95tiger59 6 months is quite a while, you must have some flights and craft to share by now and we'd love to see them

Far too close to the rules for comfort, closing!

The concept of "cheating" doesn't really apply to a game like KSP, it's not like a shooter or rts game, it'd be like "cheating" in Microsofts flight simulator series, you may deny yourself the satisfaction of achieving something in-game if you use infinite fuel but the only person you cheat is yourself. And you can always do a flight without "cheats" if you want... But things like part clipping, that's not artificially increasing the capabilities of your craft, you still have mass and drag to contend with, all you are doing is changing how it is shaped. Cheating can occur though, when challenge participants are dishonest about their entries, but these tend to be easy to spot, but part clipping isn't an issue.

Launchpad Startup issues
sal_vager replied to cyoung_mi's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Seeing your craft would help a lot, but I'm thinking you need launch clamps here as it's often the case that a heavy craft will buckle under is own mass when on the pad unless all engines and boosters are carefully levelled, and even then it helps if those engines are also strutted -
And it was keeping track of things, and players cheating, and rule rewrites that helped kill Kerbal roleplay on the forums, so if you want this idea of yours to work it's going to have to avoid all the troubles that plagued the roleplayers. It's also better if in the Games section rather then here, but if it does turn into roleplay and all the problems that brought, it'll have to be closed, sorry.

If it's just a few tons needed you can probably find it on Mars already, we know there is water there now, might as well find ways to extract it

Units of Measure
sal_vager replied to LaydeeDem's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Nutt, these threads always devolve into bickering over the perceived superiority of imperial or metric, so I'll have to close it. I'm sure the devs have mentioned before that all measurements in KSP are metric, as they themselves use metric, not being American for the most part. Fuel can be considered to be in litres, temperature readings are in Kelvin, and Electric charge can most closely be related to Amp-hours. -
I build small, at first it was because my PC couldn't handle the monsters that others were building, though I did try a few myself. But mainly I build small because I like efficiency, and a smaller lighter craft is still very capable, more so then a monster rocket that wastes fuel just to lift fuel. You can get to Duna and back on a craft not much bigger then a basic Mun rocket, you don't even need mainsails or LV-N's or dozens of LV-T30's Other planets too, you just don't need all those jumbo-64's you see people use, and for me a small craft is more fun as well, far more responsive and it's more fun to fly when your craft might run out of fuel

Colony on the other side of the Galaxy
sal_vager replied to Duckydoger's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think you all have dampened Duckydoger's spirits enough by now, it's time to close this. -
We need to see your craft, there must be another part you have used that has a reaction wheel,
-
Very impressive nevocabnezar, this couldn't have been easy to make, now if only you can combine it with this....

Simple slider for "Revert Flight"
sal_vager replied to MadVince's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I can help you with the quicksave, just remove the key binding in the settings screen or settings.cfg You can also effectively disable the autosave by changing AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL = 300 to something a lot higher, like 36000 -

Sounds odd, did you mod the game at all? -
Why is there no EVA view for the Mk. 2 cockpit?
sal_vager replied to Odo's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
He said EVA View, EVA's don't have views so we all assumed he made a spelling error here He also mentioned windows. -

Craft File transfers from SPH to VAB
sal_vager replied to 700NitroXpress's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yeah either of those will be fine If they save the file as whatever.craft.txt just change the name back to whatever.craft -
Craft File transfers from SPH to VAB
sal_vager replied to 700NitroXpress's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's just text, almost any text editor can do it fine, the only one I know will damage the file is wordpad, so don't use that. -
Craft File transfers from SPH to VAB
sal_vager replied to 700NitroXpress's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You're missing one simple step, open the craft file and change type=SPH to type=VAB -
Why is there no EVA view for the Mk. 2 cockpit?
sal_vager replied to Odo's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
And adding that Mk2 cockpit, or the Mk3 from TouhouTorpedo will not make your craft or saves unshareable, so even stock players can use it -
Reentry without a heatshield possible on Earth?
sal_vager replied to BrickedKeyboard's topic in Science & Spaceflight
From orbit? I don't think so, you have too much speed to lose. But people have fallen from near space without needing heat shields, look at Felix Baumgartner's recent skydive http://www.space.com/14928-space-jump-supersonic-skydive-practice.html Even in KSP, if you cancel your horizontal velocity before you enter the atmosphere the heating effects are less severe, I've no idea if it could work for real but maybe it could, someone smarter than me would have to run the numbers. If you could cancel your horizontal velocity and be draggy enough so you didn't build up too much speed as you fell, then you wouldn't have the same heat build up as a craft re-entering, the heat is cause by compression of the atmosphere in front of you, not by friction.
