By the way KSP works fine with the open source RadeonSI driver, and the proprietary Crimson driver, fglrx is deprecated anyway, KSP even works fine on the AMDGPU driver I'm told

The Linux Thread!
sal_vager replied to sal_vager's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Still waiting on Unity for a fix for these, the locale fix stopped working a while ago, and overriding the prefs doesn't seem to work, it's parsed before KSP starts and its values are set after KSP ends and Unity is shutting down. Not that deleting the prefs helps much, it still sends a bad window size to Cinnamon when I run KSP.x86_64 after deleting the prefs. Thanks for the new script though, that will help. -
Please try restarting the Steam client, this solves it for me whenever I get a stuck update, or double click KSP to run it, this should force an update. Not sure what Squad can do about Steam, the question should go to Valve.

I'm not sure this is about the forums, you really need to check your browsers privacy settings, maybe add the forum as an excepted url so cookies are not deleted.

Improve fps
sal_vager replied to Abstract_Kerman's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Moved to tech support but we can't begin to help without info, and sometimes the only way to improve performance is with a better PC... Please see here. We'll need your dxdiag hardware report, and I suggest you turn off any other programs while running KSP. -
Indeed. @JPLRepo...

to mod or not to mod (new player)
sal_vager replied to crycyrc's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well, you don't need mods, the game can be played stock no trouble, but it's your game, mod it if you want to -

Can't add maneuvers. Why?
sal_vager replied to Ruloveit's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Hi @Ruloveit, welcome to the forums. Most likely you are jumping straight into a tutorial or scenario, unfortunately there's a bug that means the buildings start un-upgraded, so you can't use the nodes. If you start a sandbox game it'll fix the buildings so the nodes will work. If you start a career then it'll reset them to tier 1 again, if you're actually playing career you need to upgrade your tracking station and mission control to tier 2, so you'll need some funds. Hope this helps. -
I know you're there... MODRUSH! @Snark @Snark @Snark !

Kerbal control lost on EVA

Do you have MechJeb installed? MechJeb is known to cause this issue. -

There's two things that cause this, depending on the design of your base. First is a PhysX bug in the joints that can cause them to feed back into each other increasing the force each time, this can be worked around using struts as they prevent the parts from moving enough for the forces to get out of control, though it helps to strut parts in a way that prevents movement on 3 axis. Autostruts can help here, it's possible to fix a station by setting all the autostruts in the save file to True, perhaps a modder could make a plugin that lets us do this for a specific vessel. Second is the wheels, if there's too many rover wheels, aircraft gear or landing legs (they are all the same thing) they can start to jump around, they are already autostrutted so struts won't help, the only workaround I know is to use fewer wheels. The modular girder segments have been overlooked as supports for surface bases for too long...

Graphical glitches
sal_vager replied to PimBARF's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Well, this isn't a known issue in KSP so I'm kinda stuck, your's is the first instance I've seen of this, and as it goes away with your screen recording software it suggests it is a software issue. As it affects other games it rules out KSP, Runescape uses a different engine. I'm afraid we may not be able to help you without more info, does this occur in both fullscreen and windowed modes? Also can you please provide your dxdiag hardware report, KSP.log and output_log.txt (it's in KSP_Data). Also, does ReLive have any options enabled that limit the frame rate or enable screen flipping? Another thing to try is a single monitor. -
Graphical glitches
sal_vager replied to PimBARF's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Before worrying about your graphics card I suggest you try changing the vertical synchronization (v-sync) and refresh rate settings in your graphics card driver software, because your video looks like screen tearing, v-sync should be on by default in KSP but that could be overridden. I mention this because the issue disappears when you use your recording software, which might itself be forcing v-sync on while it records. -
Perhaps you're thinking of modifying an existing DLL? In that case I've moved this to the add-ons section but HebaruSan is correct, you'll find it much easier with the source code to make any modifications, unless you're good with a hex editor and know exactly what values you'd need to change.

Still on a retro kick here, yesterday I completed this for maybe only the second time, it's rather hard and one of the earliest true 3D games. Also I'm playing another old game called Switchblade, and getting my butt handed to me.
