  1. @Arugela, make a copy of this save just in case, then use this tool. You will need to go to the vessel so you are in control of it, then press F6, this will make a craft file of the ship in flight. Tried testing that tool here and it's not working in 1.0.5, so I suggest you upload the save in case anyone is able to extract the ship manually.
  2. Glad you like it, I'm sure Bubbadevlin will be over the Mun Also, people sometimes ask me why the threads that appear hear do, when there's sometimes much larger threads. If TOTM was just for the biggest and most popular we'd see a small number of posters here every month, their threads don't need the extra attention, these posters know how good their contributions are. But the TOTM is also for the great threads you may have missed, that didn't get thousands of views and may even be on page 2 or 3, but are still worth your attention. It's also good to show the works of newer members, anyone can be on the TOTM, not just the most skilled. And if you see something you think should be pinned, tell me, it doesn't matter if it's from a new member or from someone who has been here since the early days, as long as it's a great thread.
  3. -fallback part shaders Ugly shader model 2 shaders, they make the grass really dark and can make windows opaque, don't use them. -anti aliasing Makes the edges less pixellated and jaggy, smoothing the image. -v sync Forces the screen to only update between passes, not during a draw, helps eliminate tearing. -pixel light count How many lights you can have at the same time, too low and some won't cast light, too high can cause slowdown. -shadow cascades The number of passes the shadow renderer makes, higher gives smoother shadows, but costs performance.
  4. Welcome back to the Kerbal Space Program forums threads of the month! Joining me this month in selecting top threads from around the forums is @Mad Rocket Scientist! Remember, if you see something you believe should be in here next month drop me a PM Starting in Suggestions this time we have a very simple change that could have an enormous effect on multi-mission planning, with Snarks idea to add manoeuvre nodes to the Tracking Station. From Fanworks comes an interactive story by Tw1, Bill verses Bill, where the path of the story depends on your suggestions. What will happen next? That's up to you! Chemp brings us this months Mission Report, where he takes our intrepid Bill Kerman on a Kerbal powered flight around the planet, the poor Kerbal must be exhausted after all the excitement this month! From the Spacecraft Exchange Bubbadevlin shows off what must be one of the best Saturn V replicas ever made in KSP, this is seriously something, but only high end PC's need apply. This months Challenge comes from TedwinKnockman66, who challenges us to go somewhere with only .625m parts, it's a lot harder than it sounds. This is a little old but it's too good not to share, check out Dasoccerguys craft importer for Blender! There's a texture fix for 1.0.5 craft in the thread, this is a great way to view your craft outside of KSP, and maybe even import them into other games. From the Science & Spaceflight forum, Spaceception asks us to guess when SpaceX will send people to Mars, I don't know the answer but I bet if you asked Elon he'd say "ASAP!" And finally something a little different from the Lounge, Ehco Corrallo shows us his literary skills with his new space flight inspired novel. Contains mild profanity so don't read it out loud That's all for this month! Januaries TOTM can be found here.
  5. Okay, there is an input lock when building a fairing, and the steps above can cause it to engage but not be cleared. Just open the debug window with alt and F12, click on the input lock stack and click the button to clear it. You'll be able to pick up parts again after that.
  6. Hi matko1990, does an unmodded copy of KSP work for you if you start it via the KSP.x86_64 directly ? I see you have ckan on the desktop, and as your error shows a missing steamclient.so I'm assuming KSP is in your Steam ~/.steam/steamapps/common/ folder. I'm pretty sure that ckan does not change directory into the KSP folder before trying to run it, this causes KSP to look for some files local to the current working directory, in this case ~/Desktop/ckan/ The Steam version tries to load the steamclient.so for the Steam overlay, but won't be able to find it unless the working directory is the Kerbal Space Program folder. So you should be able to solve this by putting ckan in the Kerbal Space Program folder and running it from there, or possibly by making a shortcut to the ckan.exe that sets the KSP folder as the working directory. Or by cd'ing in to the KSP folder in your script, then calling ckan with "mono ~/Desktop/ckan/ckan.exe"
  7. I'm guessing you want star trek and star wars parts Oskar, but this is out of the scope of the game, so I'll move this to addon requests.
  8. The only thing you can do with this one is to use the debug menu to complete it, sorry. The debug menu is accessed with alt and F12 on Windows.
  9. Bogy71, please email Squad support at support@kerbalspaceprogram.com with this issue, as there is nothing we at the forums can do to resolve it.
  10. That's weird, I just looked and mine's there, maybe try another browser? I'm using Firefox here. If you have KSP in your account you should have a download button, unless you transferred to Steam and forgot. If you have a Steam account check it for KSP.
  11. Aero engines draw evenly but they will stop if there is a decoupler in the way, this is to help keep the CoM of planes from moving too much.
  12. This might work. Though you really need more mass than this on the top of the rocket so it acts as an arrow or a dart with the CoM nearer the front. Another possibility would be to drag the payload to orbit. (Launcher for example only)
  13. The driver may be out of date, your dxdiag says this: But the current driver looks to be this one, Display Driver version 15.30.1025.1001, released on 12/17/2015 with a hotfix on 1/7/2016. Even if nothing else changed, Windows updates can change how the drivers talk to the OS, so the drivers need to be updated to work correctly. Just in case that is not the correct driver you can make AMD autodetect the driver for you at this link. You'll have to reboot after installing to ensure the changes take effect.
  14. Can you tell me what resolution your desktop is set to? It will need to be at least 1280x720 for KSP to start. Also if you're using -force-opengl or -force-d3d11 please try without these. Another thing to try is Windows 8 compatibility mode if you're using Windows 10. If that doesn't help, please run dxdiag from the start menu run box, generate a report and upload that for us, thanks.
  15. Hi BRShooter. The symptom sounds like what happens when KSP cannot find a driver for the graphics card, as you have several cards KSP may have found the wrong driver or no driver for the card it's trying to use. In the output_log.txt in the KSP_Data folder you will see which graphics card KSP found and whether it is using an AMD driver or the default Windows driver. It may just be that you're on a power saving mode and the laptop is using your APU's built in Radeon HD, but your installed driver is for your main graphics card, ensuring the laptop is plugged in and not on powersave should solve that. This issue can also occur if you alt+tab during load. If you upload your log to pastebin.com and post the link here we could take a look for you.
  16. Hi GreyArea. The J-X4 was moved from High Altitude Flight to Hypersonic Flight in 1.0.5 If you are using a 1.0.4 or earlier save in 1.0.5 you will see this and other parts in both nodes. This was done to reduce the likelihood of player craft that were already using these parts in flight from being deleted when upgrading to 1.0.5
  17. Hi GreyArea, that's not normal, or known. I suggest you check your graphics card temperature, there will be a temperature monitor in the software that installed with the cards driver. If it's not high I suggest you update your graphics card driver and reboot the PC. If the card is overheating please shut down your PC and check that the fan on the card is turning and that there is air entering and leaving the PC case.
  18. Steam is a client application that is a store and a front end to download games and updates, Steamworks can provide DRM amongst other features such as Steam controller support, and it is an option made available by Valve for developers who choose to use it. I'm playing the Steam version of KSP right now without Steam currently running or having had to start the Steam client, I started it by clicking the KSP.x86_64 Linux binary, this is made possible by the absence of DRM on KSP. It's not helpful to mislead people by misrepresenting the products of companies you dislike
  19. Hi Mast, there's no DRM on KSP, even on Steam. No authentication, no always online, no checks, nothing from blocking you from playing your game when you want to. You only need to login to Steam to download updates to KSP. You can copy your current saves and ships over to the Steam version, and even copy the Steam version to other folders to have modded and stock installs. So don't worry, even if you have no internet and all your other Steam games won't let you play them, you can still play KSP. See you in space
  20. I won't try so hard not to lose them then Actually I just realized, I usually play on moderate and the option for this is off by default...
  21. Nice tools pizzboy150, I'm sure these will come in handy
  22. Here's a tip when you want to decouple something without it flying away too fast. In the VAB and SPH you can right click on the decouplers on your craft and edit their ejection force, if you reduce this to zero the parts you decouple in space will not be pushed away from you.
  23. Using Mechjeb is not cheating. /thread
  24. Well spotted @swjr-swis, though Jeb, Bob, Bill and Val don't respawn if they're dead last time I checked, other Kerbals have their names generated so the same name can appear again. The missing Kerbals can be dismissed to make room for new ones, one of the three assigned Kerbals can be brought home or like you say the astronaut complex can be upgraded to allow more foolish brave Kerbals to be hired.
