  1. Haven't seen a discussion thread specifically for the ISS so i decided to make one. Looks like the crew of the ISS are having alot of fun. At first i thought it was kind of weird to spend cargo mass on stuff like decoration and 'fun' things in general, but if you think about it, most souvenirs don't weigh much more than a few grams, so if you need to pay $10,000 for a kg for example, you only need to pay less than $100-500 for a cheap darth vader mask and lightsaber to the ISS. not much compared to the rest of the gear on the ISS. Plastic toys can also be reused for years, so they don't have to launch it up there every year, only once. Does the ISS have a 'special junk' bag?
  2. I have been binge listening that album for the past few days.
  3. Speaking of spacelab, i wonder if there will be a hybrid cargo/crew version of BFR, kind of like the space shuttle, with 1/3 of the total volume pressurized and the other 2/3 unpressurized.
  4. Well if it was a giant landslide or a volcanic eruption, InSight would have helped alot. Lets just hope we won't get any giant cylinders crashing into the United Kingdom in 10 months.
  5. Surface details other than low-poly boulders.
  6. @cratercracker If you don't feel motivated, or just don't have the time to do art you can take a break, but you don't have to quit completely. As long as you can hold a pen, you can draw. Your art is above average and also very original, in my honest opinion, not something i would ditch in the bin.
  7. This was a reply to this meme by the way: Gotta love Elon.
  8. I don't think many game-developers care too much about the fundemental laws of the in-game universe that much, unless you wanted to create some sort of higly-accurate spaceflight simulator. *Cough*, Orbiter *Cough*
  9. Although i do believe BFR will fly someday, its still a baby compared to all other spacecraft flying next decade, and because of its large size and ambition, it still has a long way to go before its to be taken seriously. BFR and DSG are nearly polar opposites of eachother. DSG is a regular cramped tin can collection, while BFR is probably going to be a 5-star hotel, judging from the way Dragon-V2 looks. DSG is going to be rather expensive, while BFR's main purpose is the drasticly lower the cost of spaceflight. I can probably go on but i don't have the time do that.
  10. Cargo Dragon on Falcon Heavy, period.
  11. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan_IV The last launch of a Titan rocket from Vandenberg was on October 19th, 2005, i think. Maybe its the tourists/visitors around the area, or the fact that most people are asleep when these launches happend.
  12. Should i change my username to Zanzalur? Its my username everywhere on the internet already.

      Atlas2342

It'd take some getting used to but I like it.

I doubt anyone would forget who you are. All one needs is to take a look at that rep count and boom, there's only twenty or so people to choose from :D

  13. I have mid-term holiday too, just one week. But you do have to realize we only have 6 weeks of summer vacation because of this, rather than 3 months.
  14. I have been invited to a birthday party of a school friend for the first time in.... ever. Its on Tuesday, can't wait.
  15. Makes me wonder, would future astronauts in the age of space colonization replace the nitrogen with helium gas in their pressurized chambers one day just to mess with mission control/themselves?
  16. Im surprised so many people who live near Vandenberg Air Force base haven't got used to the launches yet. Why don't these people ask their more experienced neighbours? You'd think any normal person would ask the people in their surroundings what is going on rather than jumping to the aliens! conclusion.
  17. Yes, there are like 4 space agency's and companies all trying to reach the Moon's surface with a man on board, or at least are working on spacecraft capable of doing it. (SpaceX, Blue Origin, Lockheed Martin and CNSA), and im expecting more nations and companies to join the fun later on. But i can't just see 4 lunar enterprises suddenly failing. I'd say we will have our boots grey again in 20s or 30s. Probably somewhere around 2026 or something.
  18. I still remember when OSIRIS-REx launched and think about the 'long' time it will take for it to reach Bennu, and now its nearly there. Amazing, im really excited!
  19. Its also really important to note how 'out there' NASA is with their space probes. Its pretty safe to say that NASA is the leading space agency when it comes to the unmanned exploration of space, expecially in the outer solar system and the Martian surface. If NASA were to end, so would all these missions. I find it hard to believe how shutting down most current Mars missions, nearly all Outer Solar System probes, like half of all space telescopes and exoplanet hunters, and dozens of climate researching satellites, is a 'good thing' for space exploration.
  20. That sounds very statisfying. I actually like the idea of expanding the BFR-verse rather than completely destroying it.
  21. Yes, i meant charged particles. I always mix them up.
