For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
NSEP replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Can you collect and store gamma ray energy with a regular magnet just by putting it in deep space? -
This was for t-pose Tuesday. A dumb old meme, but i had to do it.

Phew. Sometimes disasters can make friends. -
New Shepard isn't a transportation method, its an amusement park ride. Unlike BFR.

Are retrograde orbits bad in real life too?
NSEP replied to nascarlaser1's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Retrograde orbit aren't that bad, you can do just fine, if you are willing pay an extra ten-thousand bucks. They aren't really fuel and cost effective, because of Earth's spin, and since spaceflight is all about maximum efficiency, a retrograde orbit really isn't the best choice. But if you want an extremely destructive way of de-orbiting space junk, then go for retrograde! You can probably de-orbit some of the junk out there all the way to 0m/s if you have craft heavy enough -
Maybe this isn't a serious tweet, but there is a slight chance its related to SpaceX. Maybe they will create a big space mech for Cargo Dragon to save the ISS.

Baking powder, all purpose flour, cornstarch, water and plaster. Mix all powders, then add water and mix. (according to a random youtube comment) I definitely think that Starlite is extremely simple and easy to make, even if the recipe above is not the actual recipe. If a person who runs a low-quality gaming channel (like the person in the video below) can do it, everyone can. But considering it has the consistency of silly putty, it definitely can't withstand nuclear blasts.

It should be like 10C in Western Europe. 26C is heatwave-level weather, even during summer here.

ITS 26C IN A PLACE WERE IT SHOULD BE FALL ALREADY!!!!! I HAVE BEEN CONQUERED BY MOSQUITOS. I AM UNDER THREAT OF GETTING INVOLVED IN HIGH-SCHOOL LOVE DRAMA. I AM OVERREACTING OVER THINGS I WILL FORGET IN 2 MONTHS. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Well, that does mean its going to be the first (and hopefully last) period time in my life space is left uninhabited. -

Ok, who is drilling holes in the Soyuz again??? -
Lockheed-Martin's re-usable Lunar Lander for LOP-G
NSEP replied to AeroGav's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The engines on the lander likely to be RL10s (the engine in the picture you posted below) but it probably isn't going to be blue in color, but rather, be almost invisible. (Skip to 4:20) This is what the RL10 looks like running in space, from an Atlas V rocket. -
15-meter ice spikes predicted at Europa's equator
NSEP replied to HebaruSan's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It would be fun to stick my finger into one and vaporize it with my body temperature untill it collapses, or it least make a hole in it. But hey, thats still makes good Sci-Fi scenery, right? So, the fantastic lunar landscapes from pre-Apollo Sci-Fi really aren't that fictional after all. Just not on OUR Moon. Now im waiting for them to find a dry lake, too. -
OC_tober day 9! Its an Astronaut, again! (some of them are kinda rushed, i sorta have a busy week) Day 8: Unicorn girl. Day 7: uhhh. Day 6: Just a person who warns you. Day 5: Dad

I live near places were the V-2 was launched in WW2 to bomb Britian.
-
It just shows that reality will become a Sci-Fi movie, soon. (Hopefully)

Sometimes i wish we had more fast-food restaurants in the Netherlands rather than just McDonalds, KFC and Burger King. But then again, i don't think more fast-food restaurants would make everyone happy. I just want a good burger!

I NEED NUCLEAR THERMAL ROCKETS NOW. I am speculating a Mars mission, and i have realized that you can send alot of cargo to Mars in only 2 launches with NTR rather than the 5-10 refilling launches per cargo mission with chemical BFR.
-
I crave Nuclear Thermal Rocket engine. I once ate pizza with tomato Ketchup instead of typical tomate sauce, and although its strange, it tastes surprisingly good.

Chinese Space Program (CNSA) & Ch. commercial launch and discussion
NSEP replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Wait, is this the first non-government launch into orbit of the year or the first time ever by China? -
Well first of all, i hope its over right now... I usually stop my hiccups in a simulair way @YNM does by gulping water, i do it 7 times, and that usually does the trick.

NSEP replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Ohhh, hey! Thats pretty good! -
BFR is cool and all, but its so good and overpowered of a concept that it just ruins some of my Sci-Fi projects. There is no point in doing your own (rather basic, not real stuff of course) rocket science anymore, the BFR has anything a person can ask for, it has a high payload mass, its cheap, its high in volume, it can refuel, it can get nearly anywhere in the solar system, and so on. You could bring up the "But BFR isn't likely to go anywhere anyways so uhhhh" argument here, but we are talking Sci-Fi here, not real-life. The last thing i myself, and probably many other Sci-Fi writers want in their Sci-Fi are budget cuts and space-shuttle like flops. So how the word am i supposed to avoid it while writing Sci-Fi? (don't take this thread 100% seriously, i am not a rocket scientist, just a random dude who likes math and space and plays alot of KSP Realism Overhaul)

I watched anime for the first time (My Hero Academia) and uuuuuuuhhh... i don't watch any shows/cartoons/whatever nowadays, so i can't really compare it to anything other than Spaceflight Documentaries. I really enjoyed watching it, but like all things, i HAVE to get a spaceflight break sometimes, so i watched a Space Shuttle video wth full volume. (I also watched the Martian)
