Made a small spaceplane based on something by Cupcake Landers. It's a fail design as is. Added a 5th ion engine and its vacuum TWR was still < 1 at Minmus Iota...But it was still full on IntakeAtm at the time...Needless propellant mass there (These Mk1 LF tanks are actually new Deep Sky Pressure Tanks, they hold the same amount and weight of air as they did LiquidFuel.) This cockpit should have melted at this velocity but Shieldnir is working. Also back in GPP after taking a few painful minutes to grab mod updates, remove mods no longer wanted, and ponder what my new or revised sandbox playthrough strategy should be. GEP and OPM are in. I'm really tempted to throw in Extrasolar as it's looking really good too, as of late.

That's a known issue. SAS has become garbage again in KSP 1.3.1. The higher an engine's gimbal range is the worse it gets. It's also provoked by the ARI-73's smooth (delayed) gimbal response. The problem is easily softened by setting a gimbal limit while you're in the problem portion of your ascent. -

If you are using Kopernicus 1.3.1-4 or newer (basically, the "latest") then you need to get 1.3.1-3 or older. If you are using older Kopernicus then use the thread that was linked in the previous reply to you. Help the modder to help you.- 4,170 replies

A major update each to Deep Sky Core and Thor Tech is finally out. Thor Tech now not only lets players accelerate without restriction in atmosphere, but have increased survival potential while doing it, and to "run on fumes" for several seconds longer after crossing the flameout altitudes that apply to nearly all other jet engines. What's next? Airline Kuisine major update. And later, an open pre-release of The Spice. The fabled version 0.7 0.8 that I've promised a long time now. I'd like to deliver on Airline Kuisine while it's still thread of the month but I can't make that promise.

@Ironcladsix Making the short Mk2 engines multimode is an old issue that has been resisted and closed before. If I remember right it's due to the use of blades for thrust vectoring, something that is not appropriate for, and will never be seen in any proper vacuum optimized engine, and jet engine internals aren't exactly the sort that mixes well with rocket internals that can survive the heat of the surface of the Sun. I assume you mean this one, the HAE-02, and that you don't have OPT Legacy installed. (OPT is 2 individual mods: Main and Legacy) To answer the issues of multimode engines, OPT Legacy provides the above 1.25m engine (ARI-73b) which runs on only LiquidFuel (with 900 Isp and 3x the thrust of the stock nuke engine, and is great in atmosphere too) and can most comfortably be made into a Hydrogen engine. Legacy also provides two dual-mode engines already: a really long Mk2 engine (J-60D, on the right in the first pic below, in the J-60 family) and the surface-attach-only J-81 nacelle in the second pic below. These can also comfortably have their LFO modes (with 2000 Isp already) replaced with Hydrogen mode. But if you still really want a short Mk2 engine changed then say so. Tell me more. What mod are you using that provides Metallic Hydrogen? Which OPT engine do you want changed? What maximum thrust are you expecting of it in vacuum? -

I think GPP's config that deletes the stock asteroid belts is not conditional (it's not aware of when not to activate) and that this situation was not expected. open GameData\GPP\GPP_Configs\Asteroids.cfg and change this line (at the top, line 3 to be exact) !Asteroid:HAS[~author[*]]{} to !Asteroid:HAS[~author[*]]:NEEDS[!GPP_Secondary]{} ...or just delete it.- 7,372 replies

Your SSPXr problem is likely that B9 Part Switch is throwing an exception at undefined resources. CRP is absolutely required for MKS and SSPXr to function. I'd like to ask why you wish to use MKS and Snacks together? It's very curious and unusual. Neither MKS nor SSPXr are expected to work well when MKS and Snacks are used together. In fact, this combination could just be what's causing the problem. -

@Phil Kerman Delete GameData\JX2Antenna\Patches\jx2_OPM.cfg to fix your situation. Or in that file, change its instances of :AFTER[OPM] to :AFTER[OPM]:NEEDS[!GPP]- 7,372 replies

The part about Grannus is unfortunate. That may be an oversight. I haven't played much with antenna mods to be sure but if the JX2 antenna is being nerfed then its patch which undoes OPM's boosts is now backfiring.- 7,372 replies

The contract system seems to have an issue with the Kopernicus update. We've seen another report of this kind already, but likely cannot be helped. Orbit lines vanishing they way they are is not a bug. That's intentional and other planet mods may adopt it. For your antenna problem this is the answer: OPM's antenna boost (that 4x multiplier) now does not activate if GPP is installed. With the size of GPP alone, we recommend installing JX2 Antenna to maintain the gameplay balance of the stock dishes, keep discrete antenna mod parts relevant, and to help out forum members who have attempted to chart the antenna ranges in Stock + OPM and GPP + OPM. @Snark Since this has been brought up I think it's best I draw your attention.- 7,372 replies

The next release is nearly here. Only a little texture adjustment remains, and a feature to add or fix in Shieldnir. Thor Tech will also carry compatibility with "Classic Stock" play mode for fans of the Wild Blue Industries mods and the resource system devised by NathanKell and other early KSP developers. The latest things added were missing Tweakscale options, this 2.5m pressure tank, and a config to add some sparkle to the RAPIER and the Dart Toroidal Aerospike engines. -
Landed on Tillos, the Tylo like moon. At this distance from the star, solar panels operate just fine. Hardly needed the nuclear reactors except while on the dark side of whatever moon. Curiously, this big, mean moon is not tidally locked. Perhaps the great impact it received gave it its momentum. GROUP PHOTO! The Pathfinder hab was inflated and a flag was planted but the crew's stay was brief. (Sadly, the hab cannot deflate and an issue came up causing the F9 key to send me to the KSC view, keeping the hab inflated...but fortunately it does not induce thrust torque). Interesting eclipse shadows are interesting. The four orange suits move on according to the nearest transfer window: to Aridos, what was once Laythe but is now a drying, dying world. Near the entry point to its SOI it was found that they were in a dead-on collision course and would have struck it like the bullseye. In comes a correction burn to fix that and ensure a polar pass over Aridos. Jebediah lazed at the helm due to mild boredom and had to use the spaceplane's engines for some reverse thrust to secure an exact Ap and Pe. There isn't much reaction wheel power, nor a generous MonoPropellant supply to make the caravan's turn rate comfortable for situations like this. Unlike Tillos, though, they chose to scan the entirety of this moon.

They are refillable. But you (rather, @Geonovast if they choose to install Karbonite) only need to patch them so they can be shut off and not burn while being refueled.
