  1. Thank you. And that's all there is to it really, 2 sentences. Fortunately I knew this in advance.
  2. True, and although you can't explain everything to everyone, there are ways to communicate in assisting in a smoother transition to your playerbase. not everybody reeds between the lines.
  3. I can see that point of view, but KSP is inviting you to use mods even on their own official website. Modding the game is as idiot proof as it can get. Yet the autoupdate feature of Steam gives you no warning that there is an update coming, and neither is SQUAD. The update just drops and many are caught by surprise. You have to search for ways to prevent the game you are playing from getting broken this way. I read that SQUAD never gives releasedates up front, but an announcement in advance that the update is imminent accompanied by a friendly warning to modplayers and maybe a link to some suggestions to prevent mod and save breaking could do wonders.
  4. I'm so glad that Squad isn't considering translating it to Dutch, all translated games which get or are translated into it instantly transforms into a game with an ELI5 feeling.
  5. What a nice surprise to wake up to! Congratulations on the new release, bringing native language support to nearly 2 billion Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese speakers is pretty massive! KSP can be enjoyed by nearly the whole globe with this update. Time to make a still image backup of my 1.2.2 install, although I'll probably be playing it for a while, a vanilla 1.3 install is already downloading here, and I'm gonna enjoy and go 'hurray' on every mod that updates. I take my hat of in gratitude to all the modders who keep updating their mods, sharing there love for the game for everybody to enjoy.
  6. Double the performance, wow! That's perfect! What I would be truly interested in, is if there is a gain in performance when playing on one core complex?
  7. At least you don't get a damn 20 second commercial before you can watch a video on your newssite
  8. I wasn't playing back then, 1.2.2 is my first reentry craft was just an MK1 + 1 or 2 inline crew cabins.
  9. You're probably right, but after the first flipping round and nose dive and explosion I took the 'better safe than sorry' approach, and it served me well since.
  10. Slap a heatshield on top of the MK1 capsule and just dive in nose first, that's how I did most tourist contracts early career with a Mk1 pod and 1 or 2 crew cabins behind that. A bit more drag on the way up, but no issues coming down.
  11. That's how I think about it to really. how much gain is there for the money spent? have you thought about just replacing mainboard so it'll fit in a smaller package, throw in another 8GB and upgrade the graphicscard to a 1060 (or second hand 970?) You'd be up and running within 500 bucks (maybe find a second hand 4690K/4790K?) Especially if you don't intend to go wild with a 4k monitor and will just be streaming it to a Chromebook (what resolution is that anyway? And if 4K, will you really be seeing a difference on a small screen?) I'd say it would be a overkill. definatelly drewling material, but that pricetag makes it an absolute nono for me... (And it does not fit another of my criteria 'can my 2 year old daughter 'stand on it' without breaking' )
  12. A triple star challenge? Get an unexperienced Kerbal (or more) to Maybe accompany the challenge with a few tips to get there could be usefull?
  13. I'm ashamed to say I had to look it up, it sure looks like it
  14. Could be, but it could also be HL3 without a storyline
  15. Interesting thread to read. I do however feel that bringing KSP to its knees by using three 800 part vessels within physics range is far from ideal of testing and drawing conclusions on what CPU to get. Maybe for very few people this could be the case, but for the very most it's not. It is stated that the use case is 'huge part count' but even then I would not draw conclusion from it. A few weeks ago I tested performance for my self with an I7-4790K@4,8Ghz running 4 cores with hypertreading, 4 cores without hypertreading and 2 cores with hypertreading. The last one did have a pretty big impact on performance. I want to share this picture from it, running 4 cores without hypertreading.which I found pretty remarkable when KSP is said not to profit much from more cores. I certainly won't get an I3 if I see this. The rest of the pics can be seen here: Use case was a big 450 part spacestation and an 200 part vessel within physics range. Heavily visually modded install running on a 4GB GTX970 and 4440x1024 resolution.
  16. I too have constant problems with graphic drivers since CU on my laptop, it's constantly breaking the ability to change brightness settings. Not even rebooting fixes it, nor deleting and reinstalling drivers. It constantly has a mind of its own. I try to hold of the update for my gaming computer for as long as I can. If you can still revert and uninstall the update, its definatelly worth a try till Microsoft patches it properly.
  17. PT's reply made me remember reading several reviews that the windows power state settings do having a big influence on performance because of 'core parking'. I too have the experience that it makes a big difference in that 'Performance mode' drastically improves performance over 'Standard mode' even on Intel. I read that AMD (or was it Microsoft?) released a specific powersettings profile for Ryzen CPU's. Could be that you've already 'been there, done that' though.
  18. I really do understand your frustration here... I also think that many don't voice there complaints because they understand that when a port is like excrements, and SQUAD losing total confidence in FTE to fix that, it tends to lead to a complete standstill untill legal matters and agreements are settled between them. That does not only frustrate communication, but even more so for the development of patching the game. And rightly so
  19. I don't speak a single word in Russian, Japanese or Spanish, I can count from 1 to 10 in Chinese though Maybe there is a hype going on somewhere, but we're not able to understand a word of it?
  20. I tried testing the WinKey+Shift+arrow key but it was not very succesfull. It does change on which monitor KSP is displayed, but whatever I tried, Windows just not seem to want to display the whole gamescreen. I only get it to display half of the screen halfway through the monitor array. I've also tested it with other games and with the NVidia settings on both single- and multi-screen performance. Maybe it has some luck with an Ati card or if monitor resolutions are all equal across the monitors. If it's the last though, then you could easily make one screen array with NVidia surround or Ati's Eyefinity and don't have to bother with moving the game to another window. I'll integrate it in the Tutorial as a 'to be tested'
  21. Well, at least this sheds 'some' light on the so called exodus
  22. I Kinda misused your Craft file, hope you don't mind
  23. Kerbal Theft Auto dV Formula Kerbal 2016 Mercedes Benz W08 Hybrid thanks to @SpaceTrashCan
  24. That's great info! I'm going to try that tonight Youre welcome, are you running 3 FHD monitors? If so I can imagine that it does get very wide with 5760 pixels. Than maybe you could benefit here too by making a custom resolution, in that way you don't have to use all the width of the 3 screens, and just use half of it by making a resolution like 4500x1040. You'd have to run it Windowed mode, but not borderless, that way you can 'move' the window by draging its upper bar. I feel a 'tips' section in the first post slowly forming
  25. I guess that's not a hard question to answer, you can basically read all about it here because of not making 'early 2017'... Communication is getting better, you can really tell by the weekly's, It's noticeable, and probably not incidental that it got better since the announcement that SQUAD and FTE officially parted with eachother 5 weeks ago. I can imagine that even those weekly's aren't really satisfying though after the long wait and no update on a probable releasedate. I do feel that an communication update from SQUAD should be given since they didn't make early 2017, they can surely say something about it without backstabing or a probable new releasedate. A simple sorry we couldn't make it, we are working our ass off to get you guys fixed up. That last bit can be read a bit in the weekly's, but the 'sorry guys, we didn't make it' is missing, and I think that would do a lot better then not saying anything about missing early 2017.
