  1. Kopernicus is a special case. Yes, it will be broken every time. It's written specifically to be locked to an exact version. However, usually an update will not break most mods, especially if it's a point update (like going from 1.7.1 to 1.7.2.) The major version updates will usually break a couple, but not most. 1.8 is a different story because they changed so much under the hood, one thing being a Unity update. Unity updates tend to break a lot more. A Unity update usually won't break part mods. I believe there was another update this go-around that broke some legacy texturing methods, so that could affect part mods. (Also moving to Add-on Discussions.)
  2. No matter how many of these I watch, I always get nervous with how wobbly they are. Indeed! I thought it was a render at first. Nice they're putting good cameras on there.
  3. The Squad and SquadExpansion folders are not mods. They're the stock game. The 1.8 update is going to break a lot of mods. I would move the Squad and SquadExpansion folders back in. Then do a file validation with Steam. Make sure it works stock, then add the mods back one by one and see if they work. I also see you have a "GameData" folder in your list. This is pretty atypical and likely indicates a mod installed incorrectly. Since your core issue seems to be mod related, I'm moving this to the modded tech support subforum.
  4. Indeed! I've paid full price for the game and both DLCs, but I've seen the sales go as low as $27 USD for the complete pack (on Steam). Definitely worth the full price though!
  5. Note that for this, you will need to purchase the Making History DLC, or install some mods to get the Saturn V parts! Also, if you'd like to ping someone, like @Saturn5tony, just type the @ and then start typing their name. A box will appear as you type, and you can select their name from the list once you see it show up.
  6. Hello, @bcbarnes and welcome to the forum! I've moved your question on how to play the game over to our Gameplay Questions subforum. The problem you're having is likely due not to splashing down specifically, but because you're splashing down too fast. Even with parachutes, it can be tricky to land in the water sometimes. Frequently it will help to apply a little bit of throttle (assuming your engine is pointing down) right before touchdown to get it so you're only moving a few m/s when you hit the water.
  7. Banned for having a different version of the Dres Awareness badge than me.
  8. Hello, @Saturn5tony! Welcome aboard! Always good to have a new enthusiast here at the forum. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with the game. And if you ever have any questions, just ask over in the Gameplay sections and someone will be along soon to help you out. If you're waiting for the impending update, there's no need! All updates are provided free after you purchase. I myself started playing KSP when 1.3 was the newest, and I'm currently playing 1.7.3, no extra spent (except for the two DLCs I purchased). KSP is frequently on sale, so it's always a good idea to check back often at all three retailers (The KSP website itself, Steam, and GoG). They don't always have the same sales or at the same time. Usually when it's on sale somewhere, someone will post to let everyone know. KSP 2, though, will be an entirely new game and will need to be purchased separately - which I'm looking forward to doing!
  9. There's no option for "I'm not going to buy it early access" for section 2, therefore I can't answer the pole.
  10. The original question has been effectively answered and this thread has gone pretty off topic. Some posts have also been edited or removed. If any or all involved would like to discuss the propensity of OSX updates / software breakage, feel free to spin up a new thread in The Lounge, and remember to keep it cordial.
  11. It... doesn't seem to. At least not without some tweaking. Oh well, hopefully it'll do @Union Kerbide some good.
  12. Ohh right, right. I knew this existed, but I've never used it. I didn't realize it could re-set the root. I may have to grab it and see if it'll work in Wine.
  13. Sorry, I don't know who or what that is. Can you elaborate?
  14. So you did! Well, either way, it's still not the best workaround, since it would be so difficult to do in most circumstances. I've been hoping for an in-flight re-root tool pretty much since I figured out how to use the editor one. Unfortunately such a tool would be utterly pointless in stock, so I think we'll have to wait for a modder to want it bad enough to write one.
  15. I've run into this myself a number of times. As DStaal points out, there's really no good way around it. This... may work. The problem here is that if the port remains the root after undocking, you can't remove it with KIS/KAS, as trying to grab it will just highlight the whole ship. Poor Eilpont there just wants to remove the docking port. Of course, she can't, because the port is the root part. The mod we really need, for the sake of Konstruction and KIS/KAS, is an in-flight re-root tool. It has to be possible, since it can happen in the VAB/SPH, just no one has made one yet. Maybe we'll get lucky and a KSP 1 update or KSP 2 will include this feature in stock.
  16. I like the smell of most coffee. I like coffee-based ice cream. I can't stand drinking coffee, however.
  17. I doubt it. Unless you built them together in the VAB and somehow offset the reaction wheel to the other side of the docking ports. This is definitely some kind of weird bug, which I experienced something similar recently. Although I attributed it to the mod Konstruction getting confused during welding. Do you still have the original craft file where the MPL was attached?
  18. You could probably blow it up by using the object thrower in the F12 cheat menu. Save first, though, just in case that part is somehow actually in the middle of the ship.
  19. Banned for not banning @goldenpeach
  20. True! TUBM puts on their left shoe first.
  21. Banned for not have almost 8,000 posts.
  22. What was implemented into stock, while a nice addition, is not KIS/KAS. It's only for the new surface experiments. The new stock feature could be considered a slimmed down replacement for SEP, but not for KIS/KAS.
  23. Oh, and make sure whatever you try to get is branded. EVGA, Gigabyte, Zotax, MSI, etc. You really don't want to deal with the unbranded cards from China. If you find something you like, it would be a good idea to ask here first before bidding/buying.
