  1. @Triop how are you getting around the "only one parent" problem with that thing?
  2. New Release: 0.5 Changelog: Added nodes for Breaking Ground hinges, specifically so you can attach them end-to-end. Added black color variants for the Making History engine plates and structural tubes. So if you like black interstages, there ya go. Added a couple nodes on the Hex Leg Mount from KRE. I'm not sure how much that's gonna change, but they're there. I might start doing some more node addage to other mods now.
  3. Set 3 of the G hotkeys on my keyboard at work to toggle between 3 workspaces, and I don't know how I ever lived without this.
  4. Since I've never really fallen into a career game, I don't share craft much and don't really do any challenges, I'm in the "mod it till it breaks, then mod it more to fix it." The only performance/bug issues I complain about are ones that are still present in a pure stock. I play with a fair amount of mods, a great deal of them are parts. I like having a lot of options for parts. I only have a small number of must-have mods though. KJR being the most important. I find the game horrifically unplayable without it. Autostruts are cumbersome and absolute garbage. Despite a lot of its abilities now in stock, I still like to have KER around, mainly for suicide burn numbers. KIS/KAS have become pretty second nature as well, but I could play without them. I could play stock/MH/BG + KJR, but I probably wouldn't have a lot of fun with it. Side note though, I did play the game for a month or two bone stock before I even tried my first mod, which was Konstruction! So it's not like I bought the game and dove head first into the mod pool. I typically don't update game version right away, I have no problem waiting for mods to update.
  5. I'm not 100% sure what that is, but I'll go with... no? If you stop the motor by applying the brakes, the ship stops turning, right away.
  6. Hitting the brake stops the rotation immediately. Trick is going to be setting it up so you can still aim with WASD.
  7. It wouldn't have to have wind. It could just be based off of atmospheric pressure and provide an "average" EC output off of a calculated average wind speed. It would have spinning blades, but it would just be for looks. Essentially use like an RTG but only on the surface of a planet with an atmosphere.
  8. I think the problem there is that it would be more efficient to just use that fuel to power fuel cells instead of rockets.
  9. It would, but it would be pointless. You'd have to put extra energy into the ring in order to fight the resistance of the generator, and would actually end up expending more extra electricity than you gained back. Electric generation is only practical when you have and outside force that you can syphon from. Such as wind or water. Regenerative braking is really only practical because you also want the resistance from the generator to help you slow down.
  10. Exactly. You'd be better off just leaving it free spinning during the dark time.
  11. While I think it would be cool, in some situations, to implement that, I think there are just too many issues to overcome to make it happen. The main one being that all motion stops when you switch away from a vessel or timewarp. So even if you had a flywheel spinning that was attached to a generator, you'd have to just sit and watch it do its thing. Regenerative braking would be a pretty good application, though, especially if you're in the outer system and solar isn't really an option.
  12. Generating electricity by spinning a rotor/motor isn't free energy. Something has to be putting energy into that thing to make it spin. Even in a frictionless environment, the generation of electricity would "push back" on the flywheel, slow it down, and stop it.
  13. Some quick testing is showing that running the rotors is giving me much more precise control over the craft's orientation than using the actual reaction wheels. I know a lot of people have complaint about how unrealistic the in-game ones are. I'm wondering what the people who know more about the real-world application than I do would think about this setup. Might be interesting to do an entire save with all in-game reaction wheels disabled.
  14. Can confirm it works with the newest KJR-Next. I must have had an older version when I tried it out.
  15. Personally I'd rather see some more options filling this massive gap. The size difference between the TR-2L and XL3 is extreme. I'm not opposed to smaller wheels, I likely wouldn't use them as I almost never use the Model S2, but we need more options on the other end too.
  16. I'm trying to set up a loop in the KAL-1000, but it's becoming frustrating that there doesn't seem to be any way to apply a single profile to more than one part. I have 4 sections on the craft, all with 8 robotic parts. Each section needs to do the exact same thing, so I really only need to set up 8 different profiles. But I do not see any way to duplicate! I tried just setting everything up with one, then duplicating the whole shebang in the editor, but it didn't work. Everything followed the duplicate, and left the original part uncontrolled? Here's an example. First 4 rows will be identical, then the next 4, and so on. If there is some way to copy these, or apply a single profile to multiple parts, I am missing it. If there isn't a way to do this, then consider this a feature request. In this example, it's pretty basic, but if it was a complicated mechanism, this would be a real pain. I would also like to be able to toggle between sharp and smooth for the default tangent setting. I don't like it defaulting to smooth.
  17. I had issues with KJR, especially with the rotors. When I installed 1.7.1/BG, KJR was the only mod I tried with it right away. I was banging my head against the wall for awhile trying to figure out how to get the rotors to turn... Uninstalled KJR and it worked fine, so now I'm just waiting for things to smooth out. I'd try it out bone stock to make sure you know what you're doing before trying with any mods.
  18. Does it bother anyone else that so many people still use Block 4 images when talking about upcoming FH launches?
  19. To add to that, I think it'd be super if it remembered angle snap settings as well. Defaulting to angle snap being off is just.. cumbersome.
  20. Eh, her old HDD is actually mounted as /home, so it's still being used. I really wanted to do an OS reinstall on it (going from LM 18 to 18.3, and I'm not a fan of OS version upgrades), so I figured I'd grab a little m.2 Sata SSD for the OS while I was at it since they're so cheap now.
  21. Stuck an SSD in my wife's computer. She doesn't care, but I'm happy. SSDs for everyone!
