totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Geonovast replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
I just found out that my credit card's car rental insurance expressly states that it WILL NOT cover any DeLoreans that I rent. Is... is there somewhere where you can do that? -
I just got caught up. It does nothing but get better as it goes. I was extremely disappointed when I finished the season 2 finale and found out it had just aired like last week when I was trying to see when season 3 starts. Gotta say I'm rapidly losing all the damns I have to give about Star Wars. Prequels were a mess. Ep 7 & 8 were... eh. I didn't like Rogue One. I haven't even bothered with the Solo movie. I'll watch Ep 9 when it comes out just cause, but I'm far from excited about it. I think the Clone Wars show on Cartoon Network is hot garbage. So my watch order is IV, V, VI, and the Genndy Clone Wars. I watched 1, 2, and 3 a few years ago to check and see how well they had aged. It was similar to the aging process of yogurt.

Challenge, DLC, and reposting of challenge
Geonovast replied to Jestersage's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Nobody knows your past, and you made no indication that this is what you saw in other environments, which is why you're asking. There's been no reason to believe that T2 or Squad will suddenly start strictly regulating challenges. If you have seen evidence of that, you need to cite that instead of just assuming that 1. Everyone knows your experience, and 2. T2/Squad is going to do that for literally no reason. If you're worried about breaking the community, maybe not presume actions of the people in charge of the community just because you saw it elsewhere. Might also not be a good idea to start inferring actions on T2's part just because nobody answered your baseless question. -
Challenge, DLC, and reposting of challenge
Geonovast replied to Jestersage's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
T2 / Terms / Eula/ etc have literally NOTHING to do with user-generated challenges. The rule to not create a new challenge that's identical to a current one is nothing more than a courtesy rule set in place by the moderators of this forum, who do not work for T2 or Squad (There may have been influence by Squad members, but AFAIK their only stake in the matter of forum rules is going to be anything to do with litigation). You're not violating any part of the EULA or any laws by creating any challenge. There is nothing that restricts mod or DLC usage in any challenges. You can make a challenge that requires both DLCs and a laundry list of mods if you want. Just don't expect a lot of participation. Anything being prohibited in a challenge is solely up to the creator of the challenge, as mentioned for fairness, and has precisely nothing to T2 / Squad. The challenge is yours to create as long as it's possible to do. ....why do you think it does? Perhaps you need to read the submission guide. -
There's a 99% chance that I will be in the DC area at the end of July for my wife's uncle's funeral at Arlington. Initially she was going to fly out for the day, but we've decided to make it a vacation. Obviously I plan on going to the Steven F. Udvar Center, but really my only objective there is to see Discovery (despite not being the shuttle I want to see). I don't people very well, so I will not be spending a whole lot of time at the museum, unless they're not very busy. Any other suggestions on what is a must-see at the Center, or if there is anything else to do in DC? This honestly really sucks as I have no interest in an aircraft museum. My wife wants to do a grand tour of the Smithsonian, but honestly I'm not sure there's enough Xanax on the planet to get us to actually survive a trip there.

AIRBRAKES correct alignment.
Geonovast replied to Serenity's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The game doesn't care which way the air brakes face. It's up to you. However you think it looks better. Your picture is misleading because it doesn't indicate which way you're going... although as I said, it doesn't matter. Here's an image of a real one if it helps. -
You can remove them in the editor.

Now, to be fair, depending on their source, Tacos can be one of the most regrettable purchases of all time. I've certainly had regrettable DLC purchases, where bad tacos would have been preferable. While MH wasn't great, I'm happy with the purchase. I'm sure I'll be even happier with this one.

Nobody ever includes the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars, and it's so disappointing.

Use the weight of the car. Jack up the car, get the breaker bar on the nut tight up against the ground in a way so that lowering the car will force the nut to turn. -
totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?

Last night, my mom hooked up a second monitor to her computer. After what took me hilariously 5 or so minutes to explain to her that her computer had no way of knowing where the monitors physically were, and that she had to tell it where they were for the mouse to work correctly, she finally got it straightened out, although it will take her time to get used to it. ...fast forward to a few hours later, and she calls me, at 10pm. While not terrifically late, that's into the period of time where an actual phone call (vs a text) indicates an emergency. She wanted to know if she had to use the mint menu ("start menu") to shut down both screens separately. It was all I could do to not burst out laughing and calmly try to explain to her, again, that she still only has one computer... -
How to *properly* reduce Drag?
Geonovast replied to Adenosine Triphospate's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I don't believe that's true. I just did a really quick test. Simple rocket, pointy nose cone, probe core, couple fuel tanks, small fins and an aerospike. Launched it straight up with SAS on stability and no touching the controls. First test was bone stock. Second had Superfluous Nodes installed, which adds a small node to the tip of the nose cone. Drag numbers appeared the same during the launches. The Highest Speed Achieved and Highest Altitude Achieved were very close, with the second launch (the one with the open node at the tip) actually getting about 12 meters higher and 1 m/s faster. I've seen the open node problem mentioned both ways. All I can really draw from that is that is used to be a problem, and is no longer. What the issue is really is flat, blunt surfaces, which by the design of the game happens to almost always have an open node - when the node itself isn't the problem. -
Yes. Didn't watch it live, but just watched it. That was easily the coolest looking non-heavy landing I've seen.

They may be opting for that method since signatures don't appear on mobile, and users can actually choose to not see signatures.
-
So play an older version where it's not broke.

Exact opposite. I translated a few of the paragraphs, this being one of them:

It's been my observation that a great deal of moon landing deniers also deny that no people have ever even gone to space. I've even seen some that claim getting anything to orbit is impossible.
-
According to the SpaceX tweet, Nasa did request that the launch be pushed off to "no earlier than May 3". I imagine there's quite a bit of leeway with CRS launches.

Not quite. It's actually megabits per second, which will give you a maximum download speed of 187.5 kilobytes per second (1500 / 8) as there are 8 bits in a byte. This is why Steam's going at about 5 mega bytes per second, as a 40 to 55 megabits per second transfer speed with give you a maximum speed of 5 - 6.875 megabytes per second.
