Kerbal Space Program 2 (maybe being restarted) Hype Train.
Urus28 replied to AtomicTech's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I have many interrogations about colonies : -Will they be parts in the same technological tree or will there a different one with something different to do ? I imagine it will be in the same tree, but it could be a different game mechanic (just like in civ where there are culture and science trees). -Will there be a different VAB ? The space colony on the last picture can be built like any ship, but what about surface colonies ? How do we work with the topography ? -How do we build these things ? I imagine that there will be a central root part to build everything, but will we have to bring materials ? Some parts perhaps ? -Will it be possible to change colonies in time ? -Will we have limitations in the construction possibilities of new ships and rockets in colonies ? -Will it be possible to set space lines for automatic transfer of materials ? Or perhaps this will be in the exploration update with ressource gathering... I'm really curious about this future update, I really hope it will be more than a new set of parts to have many kerbals in space.- 938 replies

Happy birthday KSP 2 ! Good to see some new material about colonies ! =D
-
Yes, it's true, I could do that, thanks for the suggestion =)

This weekend, I repaired the terrible injustice done to the Mun in my game... The lack of rover ! I decided to go for a two seats rover for extended exploration and a return vehicle. My rover has a pickup truck design and kerbals can check scientific instrumets in the back of it.

Not so many times, actually, but I circle a lot around it to spot a good place to land. Yes the design was STOL, subsonic, large wingspan, flaps, airbrakes and large landing gear =)

The Nature of Awesome & Unusable Builds
Urus28 replied to Fizzlebop Smith's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I tend to design a new craft for each new mission, in general there is enough change to make it different. The launcher to put stuff in orbit is the part I tend to copy/paste. -
I used a plane with a pod for both kapy rock and stargazer. Stargaze was a quite challenging place to land.

Number entries for sliders
Urus28 replied to brygun's topic in KSP2 Suggestions and Development Discussion
I agree, an incremental change of the value with arrow keys would be also a great addition. -
I spent most of my time designing a small seaplane. My biggest problem was to exit kerbals from their chair...

This week, I finally completed the mission to the mohole... For this mission I decided to go with 4 kerbals, two will land on Moho and two will stay in the ship for orbital observation. The result was a large ship with asymmetrical shape, too large for fairing it was a little bit difficult to put it on orbit. DE Departure from Kerbin ! Arrival at Moho, hopefully the 0.2.1 patch allowed the use of the laboratory. I used the cargo bay to transport a double lander, the large one will land close to the mohole and the small one will perform the actual mohole exploration. The final step of the mission : Jeb on his way to the mohole. That was an interesting mission =) Next step will a Jool 5 mission !

This week I dediced to give Ike some love, my little rover there is not the most beautiful, but it works well. So I went on a trip to the top of a volcano. So this mountain will be my destination ! It's very difficult to have an idea of the actual size of the volcano. The top remain hidden behind the horizon. Ike's terrain is not the easiest one... But climbing a volcano is really difficult with a rover. Finally, after many difficulties I reached the summit, the volcano is so high that Ike curvature is clearly visible.

For me, Dres was the aim for the week... A probe mission with a little rover to explore the surface. Probably my best small rover design in KSP 2, works quite nice on the very difficult surface of Dres
-
I spent most of my kerbal time around Jool this weekend...

For my last day of Christmas holidays, I decided to visit the north polar region of Duna with my little rover. Roving in the large deserts of Duna at high speed ! Still the access to the pole is well guarded with bad terrains, these places are unforgiving for rovers. Finally, the north polar region with one of the numerous valley in the region.

I have one large under (medium size if I remember correctly) the rover body and one small for each wheel, I did not have large enough heat shield for the complete rover.
-
Time to visit the inner Kerbol system for me. I had less heating problems during Eve descent, than during Kerbin ascent.... My rover landed in the hills, the atmosphere of Eve is really impressive, and I will not spoil you the view... There was plenty of fuel remaining in my orbital probe...

In general, I'm not a fan of the font choice and the pixelated style of elements. I found all this quite ugly and with poor readability. VAB Moving arrows should be partially transparent to allow a better sight of what we are doing with small adjustments. Center of mass, thrust and lift have a blurry texture that don't allow a precise adjustment of things. Procedural wings, we should be able to type numbers, sliders are sometimes not precise enough. Also, could we have actual dimensions and angles instead of abstract figures, we have it for tubes, why not for wings ? Map I just hate icons, they are ugly too small or too large, I have no idea of the precise location of things... I would have preferred a point with a broken line and name with icon identification. The screen to rename ships is almost impossible to read due to the choice of colors. Filters should apply on visible icons and trajectories, and not just on the list of items. Fly The choice of white colors for maneuver and target on the navball making them difficult to identify with white marking, a yellow or orange color would have been better I think. I think we need a specific command to activate wheels motors, we have it in KSP1 and it was useful when you have wheels and reaction wheels in the same craft.

After many bugs and problems, I finally completed my Ike mission ! Nice take off with big boosters ! A lot of aerodynamic controls are necessary. Leaving Kerbin sphere of influence ! Arriving in the Duna system ! Finally, Ike, my destination... Communication satellite deployment, for my rover activities... Rover deployment, without accident this time =D The rover doing its things on the surface... Probably the ugliest rover I have ever created. Lander deployment for the surface party ! Surface party ! Final arrival on Kerbin, the lander final job ! All this adventure has not been without problems... I had the game freezing during save loading, I had trajectories disappearing in the map view twice (game restart required), I had bugs with communication, I also had bugs with fuel detection once you dock with a ship...

I did many things today.... And almost gave up with this game.... First I lost Jeb.... I was thinking I killed him during one of my place experiment... But no, the game has decided that his place was on Minmus on my rover. ok.... So I decided to have a ride on Minmus with my rover to reach a rather flat area for a rescue mission. So I had to deal with wheels bugs, wheel ****** "physic" (I prefer to not place a word on how I feel about it), lights that strangely decide to work (since it's never work elsewhere I think it's a bug to have it working on this rover) and finally the notation panel about my solar panel not working every five second when I was driving in a big shadow. After that great time at "driving" I organize my little rescue mission... No real problem... Until I tried to create a new maneuver around Minmus... Making the game crash ! Twice ! I finally gave up at making the maneuver and eyeball it. And finally, I put the final touch on a spacecraft for a mission on Ike... With almost everything in it, communication satellite, a small rover and a lander ; a beautiful machine. But he VAB has decided to ruin my experience with a bug with the camera (relaunch the game does not solve the problem).... So I had to work with the orthogonal view (which is a great addition to the game) to finish the build. This to discover many new problems with the crafts... Bugs with fairing loading, bugs with heating inside fairing, collision bugs when you try to exit another vessel from cargo bay and complete ship explosion for unknown reason. Honestly, it's the very first time I encounter so many problems in a single day. If I would not had several days of good game before I would have uninstall the game and wait for a new update. I hope I will be able to share some pictures of this mission to Ike.

Parts & Vessels Wobbly aircraft wheels like in KSP1
Urus28 replied to WhereAreTheBathrooms's topic in v0.2.0
Check the wheel alignment, sometimes a very small angle exist and create the problem. Also decrease the spring value in suspension, it decreases all bouncy effects of landing gears and wheels. -
Today I discovered that tail sitting planes needs vertical and horizontal air intake to work... The polar region is really beautiful ! But I've not found anything special... So, it is time to explore Duna ! With some rovers because I fail at pinpoint landing from orbit

Flying over Kerbin at dawn for some sightseeing missions !

Time for a visit at Minmus today ! 3 kerbals and a rover to explore a little bit further than the mission objective. Landing was easy, but a landing leg did not survive... Solar panels seem to be stronger than landing leg in the game... I had very hard time with my rover on Minmus... I spent a lot of time just to put it on its wheels, it was stuck in some impossible position. I finally solve the problem by tweaking the suspensions. Still some work to do with wheels in this game...
