  1. As tater said earlier, agree to disagree. Let's just be happy that we are entering what will most likely be the most exciting decade for space exploration since the 1960s.
  2. Not trying to sound mean or harsh here, but apart from 'it's a cool looking big rocket', there's really not anything going for SLS.
  3. Agreed on every point above. SLS is just a 1960s rehash, throwing away an enormously expensive booster every time you fly humans to the Moon. It's using components from the Shuttle that were designed from the outset with reuse in mind, yet not even trying to reuse them. SLS Block I is barely capable of sending Orion to the Moon with the current Artemis program (Don't get me started on how underpowered Orion is). Block II is a pipe dream, and by the time Block IB is ready it'll already have been obviated by commercial launch vehicles like Starship. I doubt SLS will be cancelled at this point, but I do know that it probably won't take us any farther than the Moon.
  4. I'm not talking about the 'challenge' of searching through lists. There's a search function in the parts catalogue if you can't find a particular part. It's how you need to choose particular parts and put them together in the right way, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all procedural engine and just bumping up the Isp, or whatever. I want to have to think 'OK, what engine would be best for this craft?' This could easily be alleviated without the need for procedural parts with a better way to search and sort part categories in the editor. For example: a way to only show 1.25m fuel tanks. ...Or the developers could optimise the game further. It's been confirmed that KSP 2 will not have procedural parts, and that even lower-power computers will be able to construct vehicles with 1000+ parts. Besides, this discussion is irrelevant as far as I'm aware. LEGO-like parts have been a big part of KSP ever since early access, and even if procedural parts were simply added alongside the existing LEGO parts, it would represent a big change in the way people build things in the game. And with KSP 2 releasing soon (without procedural parts) and SQUAD probably going into maintenance mode for KSP 1 as a result, I doubt we'll ever see procedural parts in stock KSP. Good luck with your mods, personally I'm not in the mood to continue an argument
  5. Starlink. They've got literally thousands of satellites to get into LEO.
  6. Wow! This is looking fantastic so far! Are you basing the heatshield tile textures off the Cormorant Aeronology shuttle, or something else?
  7. KER, though I no longer use that mod as the essential information that I needed it for is now included in the stock game.
  8. So about 12 times as fast as Aerojet Rocketdyne is meant to be producing RS-25s for SLS?
  9. Yes, I know. The reason why I made the comment about reentry is because while my Munar Starship is not intended for Kerbin return, it needs to be refuelled in orbit, which requires a reentry-capable tanker variant. I focused quite a bit of the time I had to work on this challenge on making sure my tanker Starship worked properly because I knew that once I had that hard part out of the way, designing the space-only munar lander would be plain sailing
  10. I doubt they'll test SN4 to destruction deliberately, otherwise SN5 would have to do all the testing that SN4's already done again. They're probably removing the Raptor temporarily to do non-engine-related testing on SN4 before it does its hop test.
  11. Mainly because of the challenge they pose - you have a limited selection of parts to choose from to build your vessel, making your particular choice of parts important. With procedural parts, you take a pod, a heatshield, a fuel tank, and an engine, and just tweak them to meet your needs. Much easier, but not as fun, IMO. That's why many people dislike the idea of procedural parts - they remove some of KSP's challenge. The LEGO-like parts are a large element of the game's character. If you want a space simulator based around procedural parts, go play Simple Rockets 2. It's a perfectly good space simulator, just missing what gives KSP its charm.
  12. That didn't occur to me, and is probably a better idea It seems like they're mainly gearing Super Heavy towards RTLS landings, since with orbital refuelling there's no need for Starship on its own to have the capability to get significant payload beyond LEO. However, ASDS landings for Super Heavy could allow slightly more payload to GTO, for example, without the need for a tanker launch.
  13. Speaking of droneships, I wonder if an ASDS large enough to accommodate Super Heavy will ever be necessary. They might need it for the first few landings, because it lands very close to the launch pad and they don't want a landing failure damaging the pad while they're still getting the hang of flying SS/SH.
  14. If a fully reusable FH can just about do it, then a partially reusable configuration with the centre core expended and the boosters landing on droneships would give it a bit more margin.
  15. Do we know how massive it is? Will FH have to expend all three first-stage boosters to get it to Gateway?
  16. @sevenperforce Progress... Starship reentry is hard, but manageable, especially with a plugin like PBW Fuel Balancer that can automatically keep the COM in the desired location. Developing the non-reentry capable Kerbal Landing System variant is going to be much easier. I should be able to have my entry ready in a day or two

This is a pretty interesting game to play. I clicked 'random article', which took me to Albacore, which is a type of fish, apparently. Taxonomy Biology Natural science Physics Astronomy Universe Laws of planetary motion Orbits Orbital spaceflight Spaceflight Orbiter (simulator) Space flight simulation game List of space flight simulator games Kerbal Space Program I did it in 14 links.
  18. Probably because the plumes that this mod adds are much more detailed than the stock ones, and your GPU is struggling as a result. I'm pretty sure there's a way to reduce the detail of the plumes, but I can't remember how off the top of my head.
  19. Giant flare, seems like only a few minutes to go!
  20. Seems like a preburner test has just occurred?
  21. I'm looking at Tim Dodd's stream and it looks like SN4 is frosting up.
