  1. Too cautious. Welcome to spaceX. We build testbeds out of sheet metal. Any plans for Ariane 6 reuseability?
  2. Quick cheap and dirty. The big factor is how quickly can they chunk out Raptor engines?
  3. Elon says the first prototype will be ready by June. So I am hoping for December.
  4. I think 1 in 10000 is tolerable, how many spaceflights per day does Elon envision, 10? 20?
  5. Yeah, sperm whales cannot withstand that, given that they are so big... Ants can survive a fall at most heights on Earth.
  6. So you are telling me N-1 wasn't kerbal enough? Or the delta III?
  7. https://www.traditionaloven.com/building/masonry/concrete/convert-tonne-metric-t-concrete-to-kilonewton-kn-for-concrete.html From this, 116 metric ton is 1138kN, or 1.138MN Capable of giving the 5 ton elephant 227.6 meter per second square acceleration. So a 2 second burn can kill the elephant and accelerate it to 455.2m/s from rest. Goddamn units. Why cant everyone use SI units?
  8. The big question is: is it worth it? Is the complicationa or potential faliure modes worth a LES? Early launches with NASA may have LES, but once we get to airliner type safety, no. Especially for tourism, where the chance of an accidental firing of LES or a "Im curious to see what happens to the LES" "accident" is high. A early launch with NASA crew may have a LES of ejection seats (launching 3 guys on a 100 people spaceship is fun, you get more space)
  9. Is WALL-E male or female? Also: CUBESATS! Gives you 3 months of transmission for a fraction of the cost.
  10. Someone should change to audio of the raptor engine video to yeet.
  11. Save editing is not TOO difficult, but ALWAYS GET A BACKUP. So, AFTER BACKUPING, try to see if the engines are graphically misaligned or what. Others have a better idea on editing savefiles, @Gargamel
  12. Thats why there may be reasons for it being a MVac.
  13. Radial out, upper fins down, lower fins up, rcs on. Until you get to 300m/s, then toggle the fins up. At 2.3km aboveground, begin flipping down by toggling upper fins first then land with lower fins out.
  14. "We reduced corruption to 15% from 10% of the annual budget, and made 20% cuts to engineerer salary".
  15. Given Elon's "quick and dirty" attitude, likely a raptor at 40% thrust.
  16. NASA: follow our regulations to validate your engines SpaceX: *launching starlink* Excuse me?
