Im curious why unity and not unreal engine with nanite? Was UE4/UE5 ever considered and why unity? What about vulkan? Also you are going to need a pretty stable positioning system especially in multiplayer. Things like being stopped on a runway but there is that ever slowly driff on the runway because the planet is moving. We saw that in ksp one using multiplayer mod and interpolation

IVA option
Redneck replied to DJDoesKSP's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Or????? You could just enter a seat and not be thrown around Unity “builds” or compiles code to VR just like UE4/UE5 does. Wouldnt take that much more work to set up the keymappings for user VR inputs then rebuild it out. What i mean by all this is they dont have rewrite the game or anything. I was playing around in unity just last night. I have a lil planet game i made with a earth and sun and the XR2 from orbiter. Went down to the surface from orbit then i decided to see if it would build in VR or android and it did. Took forever for the shaders to compile but yeah wasnt nothing to it really . KSP2 in VR is TOTALLY doable imo and that in combination with this extra IVA layer and WOW what a game ksp2 could be huh? Add a lil camera shake on launch or during high g’s ……..man i could go on and on -
IVA option
Redneck replied to DJDoesKSP's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Suggestions & Development Discussion
@Nate Simpson if my understanding is correct could the devs add another layer in unity for IVA and walking and or floating exploring internally a ship or base? also would you mind adding both 1st and 3rd person cameras during IVA exploration? And could you guys make a couple of interactive IVA props so the framework is there and the modders could take over from there as far as making and populating the IVA parts inventory? I would like to see this framework in place during initial development as it would be harder to add it later in game i would think. -
did is been done did! Yes sir! lol well said! :fistbump: i hope they dont port it over to ANY console game myself! They are just asking for a bunch of needless headaches

KSP 2 Multiplayer Discussion Thread
Redneck replied to Johnster_Space_Program's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
LMP only fails because its limited to KSP fails such as the games positioning system. Darklight has pointed this out many times. Requests by the LMP and other devs have fallen on KSP devs deaf ears. Have you ever wondered why a parked craft on a runway tends to slowly slide one way with brakes on? Remember all the problems with the landing gears and tires? Ever wonder why the game trys to freak out when transitioning from surface (packed and unpacked) to orbit? Or how the craft freaks out when doing a atmospheric reentry? Yeah......thats all on KSP! But hey we got planet/part revamps and plushie toys- 1,629 replies

oh it has EVERYTHING to do with how KSP1 was built. The code is/was a nightmare! -

just curious because the positioning system in KSP1 caused ALOT of issues for the multiplayer mod. Jitter, orbits and trajectories off, etc. Thanks for replying -
no mach/shock diamonds in the exhaust stream?

just as long as this works with multiplayer positioning then whatevs. You guys did consider multiplayer positioning when thinking about this correct? -

Awesome so are we still on track for 2021? -

i almost felt sorry for the little guy panicking. Good stuff though thanks for the sneak peek -
thank you for this. Ive been wondering how they would handle the positioning. To bad they cant add that into KSP 1. Prolly to late into development to change all that might break some mods as well. But if they did we could have a very precise multiplayer mod in KSP 1
-
I dont understand why people would be against a separate map window. If you dont want to use it then dont. Its that simple. You loose NOTHING! But why try to shoot down the idea for the rest of us that do want it? They did the same thing for ksp 1 when we mentioned multiplayer. If you dont like it then dont use it. Why is that concept so hard to comprehend? Does the idea of a separate map window ruin your day? Does it put you in a bad mood? What seems to be the problem?
-
i still think its a bad idea. And yes if you want to play the game a pc is always an option. Those consoles are not cheap and there is no modding. New Cell phones? those are not cheap either. So why is a pc not an option?

looks good @Nate Simpson
