  1. Well, you can decompile the assembly, but not the executable. And forget the assets; they are tied up somewhere and we really can't get to them.
  2. Let me correct this for you: Somehow, you failing to provide an answer to a specific question that wasn't even asked is making your example invalid. Bej has a history of moving the goal-posts to suit their own narrative. The issue that was brought up, as you quoted, was that there would be an impact on the IP. You gave an example - which wasn't asked for, by the way - and that's all you can do. No need to get angry. Your playing more now actually helps the argument the Fizzlebop made about player counts going up due to there being an impact on the IP. There's really no need for you to get upset over something that he is actually agreeing with you on.
  3. After thinking on this, I'm left with the question "Does it matter that Nate was online on one day recently". like, does it have any impact on anything that is going on? And I keep coming back to the same answer: Nope. How many people log on to this - or any other - site and don't post? In all fairness to Nate, I'm sure he is reading these comments but either doesn't care OR can't speak due to the NDA. Or probably a combination of both; I'm sure he's quite numb to the vitriol and feedback at this point.
  4. I fired up a new career game, heavily modded. I'm using KSRSS, Un Kerballed Start, the Community Tech Tree, and a bunch of Nertea's Near Future stuff. Been tinkering about, launching this rocket here, crashing that probe core over there, collecting as much science as I can. And today, the grind has paid off, for I have entered orbit around Venus: It's a rather simple probe, with a few antenna, some solar panels, and a thermometer (I had a contract to transmit science from orbit of the sun, so I thought "Why not, not why"). The antenna don't have much reach, and thanks to current position of the planets, all I've got is full thrust or no thrust (I have both Commnet and Require Signal enabled). So this lonely hunk of metal, which I have affectionately named Sekhmet I, is in orbit of Venus. I will eventually send up a crewed capsule and do some updates on the probe (a little EVA construction at some point to put better antenna on it is a must).
  5. And you are STILL not listening to what I'm talking about. The question was posed about removing the launcher from KSP1, not about continuing updates on the IP as a whole. And my answer to that - which, by the way, is entirely speculative and has no actual factual data behind it to support it - is that the company probably won't update KSP1 as they stopped updating it after 1.12.5. There is little to no financial motivation to do so, especially when there is a workaround that requires zero coding effort (you can launch the game without using the launcher). So, cost of development vs. financial gain here. It costs money to do the work, and they'd get almost no return on that investment. What would you do?
  6. Pure speculation on my part here, but... If we get anything on colonies, it will probably be limited to parts only. We will more than likely not see any kind of resource management, or orbital launch stations, or even extra-Kerbinular launch sites. I would love to get resource management; ISRU, even just the KSP1 basics, would be a god-send for interplanetary exploration, and it might make me fire the game up again. Again, purely speculative.
  7. Keep in mind that we are talking about removing the launcher from KSP1. So that statement about "we are still working" doesn't fly. So I ask again: Why would they want to push out an update to a game that they have stated they are done updating simply to remove the launcher?
  8. You are aiming too low here. You need to focus that anger at the executives that made all of the decisions that the developers had no choice but to follow.
  9. This has to be my favorite thing in KSP2. For all the backlash over the foundational issues and bugs, the one thing I think they got right was the music.
  10. Nate is literally on record as saying the wobble was part of the Kerbal experience. And it was as if he wasn't listening to the community on this, and they only added autostrut due to backlash. I am not talking about normal joint flex and rigidity. I'm talking about that noodle he used to get his point across.
  11. And why would they want to push out an update to a game that they have stated they are done updating simply to remove the launcher?
  12. We don't really need to make up any announcements. The official KSP X feed said it best: We are continuing to support, and we will talk when we can. That's about the best you are ever going to get.
  13. Isn't that what modding APIs are, though? While I agree that we should have the right to tinker with/modify anything we have legally purchased, providing the source code to do so opens up all kinds of chaos. From simple messing with the code and screwing it up, to outright copying of functions and creating your own game, this just cannot be allowed to happen.
  14. I sincerely hope that if the IP gets sold, or if TT decides to gift this mess to another developer under their umbrella, that the next group of developers is smart enough to scrap Unity and use Unreal (or some other engine far better suited to this kind of game).
  15. NDA's generally cover a company's intellectual property...in perpetuity. There is generally no end date for when the NDA expires, unless the IP has been made publicly available through open source or some other legal means. And even then, you are highly unlikely to ever hear the truth of what happened (there are always three sides to the truth, in this case: the devs, the company, what really happened). Also, even though I'm an American, I tend to write dates as 20240614. Comes with being an automation jockey in my day job.
  16. @wpetula For starters, I'd like to give a huge shout-out to you and the others working on this. These are just awesome! Secondly, I just want to confirm that these are going to be exo-planets in KSP1, right? As in, we'll need some mod to go interstellar to use them? Or will they be available in one of the other mods that alters the stock system (not RSS or KSRSS, obviously)?
  17. I'm going with somewhere around the third Tuesday of Never.
  18. Categorically incorrect. The launcher won't be removed from KSP1 because IG has nothing to do with KSP1. And TT could care less about a launcher developed for a game they didn't develop themselves.
  19. Or maybe because the community continuously complained about it? For the right price, I wouldn't put it past some startup with a few devs who think they own the world taking this on. I mean, isn't that what happened here? Star Theory said "We've got this", then got the axe, then IG said "Hey, WE'VE got this". The one thing I don't understand with the timing of this patch is why it took so long. Apparently, from what I've read in other threads here in the forum, this was signed off on weeks ago. If they are going to keep the lights on until the 28th, why not release it when it was signed off on and then see if they can't put together one last "Here you go" patch? I mean, they are still paying the team until the 28th, so why not at least get your money's worth out of it? Although two completely different genres AND styles of games...Rockstar (owned by TTI) did put a dating/girlfriend mechanic in GTA San Andreas. Just saying.
  20. Vanamonde-stradamus @Dakota and @Nerdy_Mike are also under NDA's, which are probably stricter than what the mods here have signed. And I really do believe that if any of them knew anything AND that if they could talk, they would have already. Very well said, especially the part about other hobbies. I've long put off trying to learn how to play lead guitar, and I have the time to do so. I mean, I had the time when I was playing KSP1, KSP2, Juno, NHL 20, Madden 18...you get the point.
  21. Huh. I could have sworn that people were still complaining about it after 0.2.1. Maybe I'm just lacking in the coffee department the last couple of days!
  22. For starters, that statement about the team working quietly is truth. They have been radio silent for a month, but have pushed out a patch/update. Anybody can make that statement Secondly, Vanamonde isn't a CM.
  23. I lurk on X for a good 15 minutes in the morning, and then ignore it the rest of the day. Granted, I have zero followers, and I only follow a couple of gaming mags, Scott Manley, Matt Lowne, the Green Bay Packers, and the Vegas Golden Knights. Still, I don't give it much attention.
  24. If you did, then I probably missed it in all the other sarcastic one-liner "you not me" comments you made. If I did, that's on me for not seeing it.
