  1. The real challenge is to get the most dV into LKO as possible. @AllenLi got 1110m/s into LKO. I think that's the standard to beat. I got 2759m/s into LKO with this: Full album (15 images): https://imgur.com/a/7odzAhK Highlights: I didn't attempt to go anywhere from here. With this dV we could wait for the opportune time and do all kinds of gravity assists to anywhere. Or, if we didn't want to wait, we can still get a Jool encounter or get well beyond Eeloo's orbit
  2. Wow! I'm super-impressed by the 14 - 16t solutions from @QF9E and @camacju! I have a lot to learn about thinking smaller when the challenge is all about minimal mass. Question for you pros: What was your process for building your booster stages? There was no obvious way to sum up stage dV to the 3200m/s called for in the dV Map. Do you have a method or rules of thumb you could share? My process was trial and error until I got something to work. Here is my submission in the "amateur" category. 47.018t at launch. Full Report: https://imgur.com/a/tE0SCca
  3. Using only stock engines? I think the O-10 "Puff" is the only stock monoprop engine.
  4. It can be done in Chrome with even fewer steps, as follows: Right click the image in the Imgur album Select "Copy Image Address" Inside your forum post, right click and select "Paste" As I did here:
  5. Mission Objectives: Satisfy several contracts worth some big Funds Establish a base on Minmus Plant a flag on Minmus Establish a station in Mun orbit Haul some tourists around Minmus and Mun Three rescues Build, test, and practice orbital assembly of components for reuse on later missions 7 Launches I started with seven launches to build an orbital assembly station at approximately 125km altitude, and to send the various components of the mission ship to be assembled at that station. Mission Ship Assembly Do We Have Enough Fuel? Let’s Go To Minmus! At Minmus At Minmus we have to deploy the surface base, plant a flag, and do one rescue. One of these days, to the Mun! At the Mun we need to deploy an orbital Station, and do one rescue. Rescue Siglorf Siglorf’s Wreckage was in very high Kerbin orbit, with a very high relative inclination. This is the last part of the mission before we can go home. Next Stop, Bartlett Station Can we get home from here? Let’s Head For The Barn! Time to head for the KSC and conclude the mission. Lessons Learned That's it for now. Enjoy!
  6. Back in my university computer science days, I took a required Fortran class. One day late in the semester we received a particularly difficult assignment, but it was only worth 20 points. At that point in the semester, my classmates and I were trying to finish up several other difficult projects that were going to impact our grades more than this 20 point project, so most of my classmates decided to just not do this Fortran project. They were willing to just accept a "zero" on this one. But I thought about it a little bit, and thought I could do the assignment. I wrote the program, got it working, and got correct results. Good! Twenty points for me! The instructor passed our printouts back to us in class (with grades written on them). On my printout, he had written a note that said he had told the class never to mix floating point and integer math. I don't remember if he actually ever said this to us, maybe he did. Turns out that our Fortran compiler allowed for this (and corrected things behind the scenes), so my program "worked" properly, even though I had mixed floating point and integer math. In fact, I had mixed floating point and integer math 23 times in my program. The instructor took 1 point off for each time I did this, resulting in a score of -3 on this project for me. In front of the class (probably not a good idea), I said something like this to the instructor: "So I should have blown this project off, like most of my classmates did. I would have gotten a better score of zero." "Yes." was the instructor's reply. This was a long time ago, but I stay in touch with several of the guys who were in this class with me. They like to remind me of the time they scored better than me on an assignment by not doing it.
  7. I've only used CKAN. Haven't manually added anything. But, here's the list of folders in the Game Data folder. Perhaps you'll spot something.
  8. I've found this site very useful for maps, including biome maps: https://ksp.deringenieur.net/ I agree. I read that some people were able to at least go to warp 2 with propellers. I tried it on this mission - no luck. I also tried in map mode - also no luck. I did the whole thing in slower than real time. Ah! This probably would have done it. My filenames were already in alphabetical order. I'll look at this next time. And thanks for the suggestions on future land and water rovers!
  9. I just completed a Kerbin Sea Circumnavigation Why would I do this? The Rover (3 images) The Route (1 image) Highlight Photos (16 images) The Entire Album (61 images): https://imgur.com/a/gZyBbwg Circumnavigation Markers (7 images) Lessons Learned OK, that’s it! Hope you enjoyed this. And I welcome any suggestions for a faster land vehicle for Eve, and a faster water vehicle for Laythe (eventually). Or a faster amphibious vehicle for both! And, one more question for anyone: what’s the best way to drop photos into Imgur? I dropped 61 images at once. They were in date stamp order, and the filenames were in alphabetical order. Imgur totally rearranged them in some other crazy order. Do I have to drop these one at a time?
  10. For quite a while now, F1 has not been taking good screenshots. They are missing all of the UI components. Screenshots in map mode are missing icons for vessels, waypoints, maneuver nodes, etc. The last "good" F1 shots I have are dated February of 2021. The earliest ones I have that I know are incorrect were done in October 2021. I don't know exactly when, between February and October, I may have noticed this change. I did not make any changes to mods during that time. Any suggestions? Here is a comparison between an F1 screenshot and a Windows PrintScreen screenshot. And here is the same comparison of map mode screenshots.
  11. I think this has worked. I selected both Waypoint Manager and ZeroMiniAVC in CKAN. CKAN then asked if I also wanted to select KSP AVC, recommended by ZeroMiniAVC. Agreeing to this recommendation, and selecting KSP AVC, caused more problems. The answer is to NOT select KSP AVC. I got all the way through the KSP startup, and was shown the Click Through Blocker selection screen, and the Toolbar Controller Intro screen. I haven't seen either of those in a while, but I think they are both good to go. I have the Waypoint Manager icon on my Toolbar, and selecting it brings up the appropriate interface. Thank you, @linuxgurugamer!
  12. I just tried again. I let KSP continue to load past the ModuleManager - Fatal Error. Here's a snapshot of the fatal error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cygnq4sg9z29ivb/ModuleManager Fatal Error.PNG?dl=0 KSP loading stops making progress with about 20% of the yellow loading bar complete, and this message. "ModuleManager: Waiting for patching to finish". Today's logs: KSP Log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipkxwujwuw5i3s7/KSP 20220119.log?dl=0 Player Log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xjrp2kaohwn1xgl/Player 20220119.log?dl=0
  13. No problem. Here are the logs. KSP log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pf35tot9el5pslt/KSP.log?dl=0 Player log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1wxkkjnoxk7uq2g/Player.log?dl=0
  14. I added only Waypoint Manager in CKAN today, and received the following error during KSP startup: Please let me know if you need any complete log files, and, if so, which ones. I found the following In KSP.log: At the bottom of MiniAVC-V2.log: That MiniAVC-V2.log has many many entries that look like the first line I quoted here (config not found, GameData/MiniAVCUpdateFrequency.dat). From the time stamps, though, it looks like these were from previous times I started up KSP. Today's attempt resulted in the 12:39 entry.
  15. Here are a few of my screenshots that I consider screensaver worthy. Enjoy!
  16. Thank you, Admiral Fluffy. No problem, I'll wait until I have a sufficient number of posts.
  17. By "smaller", do you mean "less mass than a full Oscar B tank"? No more than 0.225t?
  18. I've been playing KSP since December 2019. First time posting. I circumnavigated both Minmus and the Mun in a single mission, which I called Twofer II (Twofer I was a flyby of both), between July of 2020 and February of 2021 (after work, on weekends, etc. You know the drill). I wasn’t aware of the Elcano Challenge until recently, so I didn’t set out to finish each circumnavigation at exactly the same place that I started it. My objectives were to visit every biome and maximize science. I did have my own goal of circumnavigation for each moon: since I was travelling basically westward, my criteria was that I had to do more than 360 degrees westward, and finish further west than I started. Here are some screenshots and maps. Enjoy! 77 images for the entire mission - both circumnavigations. Spoiler Alert: includes photos and locations of some special geographic features. To Moderator, 18Watt: I couldn't figure out how to post individual photos in this forum. I also couldn't figure out how to change my profile image, or how to apply the badges to my signature line.
