And what did you learn about the game from that video? I can summarize it in 4 words: it's gonna be 'uge. [snip] I'm grateful to the devs and to Intercept. The Private Division PR department is completely absent. Do the forum moderators even get payed for their work? I'm actually curious if the people responsible for community growth and public relations actually value the work people constantly put in for this game. There is really no reason to defend bad corporate communication practices. [snip]

Well I do care about it. I've been waiting for it to be released in 2020. Then 2021. Now it's almost the middle of 2022 and I still have to read / watch interviews from 2-3 years ago to answer forum questions about it.

We're not talking about the devs here. We're talking about the communications and marketing department, about PR. It's good practice to be transparent and not keep people in the dark, constant communication builds a good reputation. I will laugh so hard if they will announce KSP2 multiplayer will be MMO-like. Then everyone will say "oh why didn't you tell us earlier, why were you hiding it, you were afraid of the feedback?". Mark my words.

I'm a customer of Private Division, I've bought KSP1 + 2 DLC. I'm also a guaranteed pre-release customer willing to spend $60 on KSP2. Besides this, I've invested time, energy and emotions in this franchise. I am part of this community. This is an inappropriate business attitude. Even potential customers deserve respect and answers about future products. Look at how Blizzard is communicating about their new WOW expansion, one year before release. Transparency is not a bad thing. No one is forcing them to lie or promise things they cannot deliver. We just want to know more things about the game. Why is this so hard to understand?

I wouldn't really call them stalkers, SpaceX allows them to take photos and videos. But transparency regarding progress is important. Look at how much hate Blue Origin is getting because of the way they hide everything. SpaceX is really teaching everyone a lesson in corporate communication and transparency.

How many Starship update videos have you seen in the past 2 years? Do they spoil the launch for you? Simple questions.

KSP 2 Multiplayer Discussion Thread

Massive for me is a few thousand players inhabiting the same persistent world, or at least 800 player servers. Quality over quantity.- 1,629 replies

One person says art is made for the basement because real artists don't need validation, another says he's saturated by videos coming out every 5 months basically showing KSP1 with mods, another is afraid of the spoilers of knowing the absolute minimum about new core features of the game before buying it, another wants it to be a persistent world cooperative massively multiplayer game. We all have some cooky opinions, that's for sure.

KSP 2 Multiplayer Discussion Thread
Vl3d replied to Johnster_Space_Program's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
It's another mystery we know nothing about... I feel like there should be things in multiplayer that cannot be done solo, like some giant construction or interstellar travel projects or difficult colonization or comet redirect. They would be the new type of raid bosses. I'm telling you guys, KSP2 will revolutionize the MMO genre.- 1,629 replies

The story of discovering alien life. The story of traveling to another solar system. The story of building an industrial empire. The story of preventing an extinction level event. No hand holding, you just discover it as you play, building solutions towards your goals. Of course with cool cinematics and unforgettable moments (like launching / landing grandiose missions for the first time). Documentary type vibes.

It's more than validation - it's also the co-op building process, the learning process when seeing what others have built and, most importantly, it's the first time technology is good enough to actually allow players to build and expand the game world. After which comes exploration - the main KSP single-player reward.

KSP 2 Multiplayer Discussion Thread

... so what if interstellar travel was a project so difficult that in multiplayer it could only be done by a collaboration of multiple space agencies?- 1,629 replies

You don't understand. KSP2 <IS> multiplayer. The essence of everything you build and everything you do in KSP1 is you playing multiplayer - but you do it with yourself. One part of your brain is proud of another part of your brain. Now realize what that means when everything you create can be seen by the whole world. Your thoughts become real. Multiplayer <IS> KSP2.

You are confusing technical limitations and the old state of the game with intentional creative decisions. Do you think Kerbin is actually completely empty of fauna and kerbal civilization? Of course not, it's just a technical limitation of an old game. It's not considered canon. But the kraken was a name for a bug and then it became canon when they added the dead baby one on Bop. The community did not come up with the alien space saucers, but they are canon. The face on Duna and a lot of other stuff are inspired by real life events. Kerbals are the creation of the developers. Minmus is not made of ice cream.. like players like to say. It's glassy. What do you mean there's no canon? There are sources of inspiration for creative decisions.

I really, really, really want stories. I like books too. I don't feel they force anything. I feel like people who don't want quests or stories can just play the game as usual like an open world sandbox. But those of us who want stories really suffer because of this attitude. I have an idea in the back of my mind related to stories: the only value I see for the Karecibo message is that the Kraken breaking the rocket is something central to the story of KSP2. So there might be a narrative motivation to go interstellar because of it.

Let's say "story packages" containing missions, quests, lore, hidden stuff, cinematics etc.

Kerbal Space Program 2: Episode 5 - Interstellar Travel
Vl3d replied to StarSlay3r's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Not sure about that. You should see ALL vessels flying in map view and be able to switch to them in case of emergency. Maybe you need a cargo rocket to save another mission. Improv.- 344 replies

It seems like you don't know / care about the huge amount of work and sacrifice needed to make and maintain a good mod. @linuxgurugamer is a god in this regard. Other modders too. Also, why do you think that the majority of the players prefer mods instead of a good stock game? Personally I only installed ReStock+, visual mods and MechJeb (just to eliminate some repetition). I like and respect stock KSP, I think it's a polished and nice experience except for a few remaining bugs and some outdated graphics. I expect to 95% play stock KSP2.

Am I the only one that will prefer KSP than KSP2?
Vl3d replied to Aerodynamic Kerbal's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Name them please (for latest version). -
Take absolutely all the assets and pre-alpha and in-game footage that has been released until now. For example: Right, so now please tell me if you agree with this statement. If you do, please specifically tell me what we know about something extremely simple like: what is multiplayer going to be like? It's there going to be weather? Will we be able to build on/under water? How are supply routes going to work? What does the colony builder look like? What resources will be in game? It's there even going to be an in-game currency? It's there going to be a story? Etc. Let me name a few games so you can compare the amount and quality of content $60 games have in them: Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, No Man's Sky. Yes, Microsoft Flight Simulator is $70. Or better yet, go through this list and strike out things that have been shown or confirmed: Then you will realize they have shown close to nothing. Thank you for your patience.
