For Science! - My Thoughts (And Yours Too!)
TickleMyMary replied to Scarecrow71's topic in KSP2 Discussion
My thoughts are that they didn't test this nearly enough... You can't even warp without getting yeeted out of whatever orbit you were in. -
I've been saying this for MONTHS at this point... Until you start showing some progress, rather than talking about how your preparing to fix something that you considered at feature just a few short months ago, it's all just words... Yet again. It's time to put up or shut up... And, to be perfectly honest, you're going to need to pull something pretty spectacular out of that hat to win the majority of folks back around. I hope you can do it but I have zero belief that you will, time will tell. One question for the devs though... Where/are all these same bugs experienced since release present in the internal builds that you were playing and how do they translate across the branches you currently have in development?
-
Already confirmed by Dakota on here and Discord that the next patch is bugfixes only... No new parts, features or reasons to get excited apparently.
-
Well damn... They REALLY need to start doing better, just ticked over to mostly negative on steam and certainly wont help future sales! It makes me pretty sad to see this... While I think it's a fair review of the game in it's current state, it really shouldn't be this way. We can bicker over the reasons until the cows come home but there's no way in the world the game and community should be in such a state... Then with the gaslighting over "our expectations" over on discord, no wonder people feel this way.
-
I'm sorry, what now? What possible legal consequences are you envisaging here?
-
You have to accept that your experience doesn't necessarily reflect others though, yes? As I have said previously, if somebody didn't catch that event then that certainly would not have been apparent.
-
I honestly didn't catch the event until after I had bought it and purchased solely on what I'd heard via interviews held with various youtubers over the years... I seem to remember one interview with Matt Lowne, Chris and Nate shortly before release that, in hindsight, should have spoken volumes to me as it highlights most of the real issues to be had with the release so far, including the comms strategy. Again though, it really is what it is... The money is neither here nor there, it's the erosion of trust that kind of grinds my gears as it has ultimately lead the community to where it finds itself today... Fractured, defensive and disinterested. I'm not one for extremes at any end of the spectrum to be honest... I'm no hippy but man does everyone just need a cup of tea and a cuddle. Probably an unpopular opinion but... I'd put that down to (for the most part) the level and quality of comms we are getting. They're vague and uninformative in my opinion, you rarely know if or when they're coming, what format they'll take and rarely show anything of substance that people can sink their teeth into or get excited over. People can only really operate with the info they have and if that is lacking, it's human nature to try and fill in the gaps... They really haven't helped themselves with the strategy so far imo, whether that changes is down to the staff but it's not something I'm going to concern myself over either way. I have my feelings on how it will go but I hope to be proven wrong... Same... The frequency and quality of them is exactly why my faith is currently non-existent for this to be seen through to the end... With the recent steam reviews hitting 40%, they need to get on with this asap imo.
-
So, yes then? If you didn't watch anything from that event then you'd have zero idea there were any issues as all the comms from the sources we were getting (devblogs etc) were bigging up the game no end and telling us how much fun they were having playing it. I think we could both agree that this couldn't be the case, given what we were served... The money spent really isn't of issue to me... What made you buy the game and decide not to pick it up again for at least 12 months? I don't believe I have gave the impression that I feel any differently to you in this regard... Though, I would say exactly the same about the overly-positive comments that we get too... All are operating out of opinion and we have no info to base any of it from. As consumers, we are able to say whatever we please about a game we may or may not like, as long as people are civil, it really shouldn't matter... I get bored of seeing the same thing over and over again too, I just draw the line and telling people to pack it in.
-
How did we know the car was broken in the first place? Because they held one event with a few youtubers just before release? Again, not really a compelling argument... Especially when you're gaslighting consumers for the failures of the company to effectively convey information regarding a game they had been saying just needed polishing in the years previous. Honestly, if this information was conveyed to the consumer base before release and the dire state was there to see before purchase, I feel the backlash would be severely reduced, as would the sales... So, I would say the answer lies right there with that point. You think business decisions have no bearing on the dev process... I disagree. I'm not sure how further I can elaborate on that before it just descends into a war of opinions and viewpoints with thinly veiled personal attacks. It happens all the time and I refuse to engage in that nonsense. Yes, neither can I... I'll end with what we CAN agree on: More work is needed and neither of us will revisit the game until changes are made.
-
I mean, it really does but we will agree to disagree. Again, that just you're opinion... And, there's no problem in that! Expecting people to fit those guidelines and discuss what you want them to, less so... We had years of a game just needing polish, I fail to accept "it's EA" as an acceptable excuse, especially when said EA was shoehorned in at the last minute. People have a right, as customers who have paid for a product, to express displeasure about ANY factor of the process they deem necessary. Agreement isn't a necessity but the freedom to do so is. Yes. It's the game they have presented and, as already stated, I personally do not find the "it's EA" argument to be a compelling one... You see a plan where others see lies, it's an important discussion to have.
-
Not getting involved in things that you're not fond of will ALWAYS be better for you in the long run... Like, why stress yourself out over someone else's opinion of something you admittedly don't care about anyway? Probably better to let people vent and express themselves however they please and just enjoy the game yourself, no? It's all good if not but, if it was me, I just simply wouldn't engage with the things that grind my gears to such a degree... Which is why I barely engage with the forums anymore and, lets be honest, the forum would be all but a ghost town without the complaints of late! And, that is what people are trying to get their heads around, no? Trying to get from what we were shown for years to what we got at release... That will almost inevitably come with venting of frustrations, proclamations of lies and deeper dives into what could (theoretically) be happening behind the scenes. It's all just fairly tales and opinions from both sides of the discussion and it's just modern human nature to speculate on the negatives. Are you saying that these factors do not factor into the game dev? I'm not sure what you're referencing when you say this... To me, these three points are as important as the game code as the price tag effects the sales, the dev team effects the quality and the money dumped into it puts a finite lifespan on the product when taken into context with the previous two points. The game just isn't for me, I really do not like it and don't plan to play beyond the 12hrs I've got into it until the roadmap is complete or they change something else pretty radical and I start seeing content being pushed out that interests me and makes me want to boot it up again. The community is fractured and makes discussion of any kind so damned difficult because everyone is too concerned with their quippy one liners or trying to convince others that what they think or feel is wrong... Hence the checkout on my part to a great degree.
-
There's no game without the 'business side'... So, I beg to differ. Yes.
-
You've slowed updates and now comms? Insane to think this is how the whole show is being handled after such a terrible launch. Without comms, this forum has become nothing but bitter sniping from both sides and a never ending circle of the same conversations and replies from the same people... Gone from such a vibrant community to this, it's a mind numbingly absurd choice when the community is this fractured and the game is in the state it is. Is the whole office out on vacation, like not one single person left who could fill the mighty shoes of Nate? Nobody that could string 3 paragraphs together about how far we haven't got this week and collate some images people have posted? Seems crazy that radio silence was the choice of the day rather than simply getting someone else to do something.

Release KSP2 Release Notes - Hotfix v0.1.3.1
TickleMyMary replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
The patch shouldn't have released with these issues to be fair but I'll give you an up for releasing a hotfix... We don't mind waiting for a quality update, but, it has to be quality to justify that. Now, squash those big release day bugs and we can start talking gaming again. EDIT... Get rid of the launcher too, it's unnecessary, intrusive and is yet another thing (among many) that is stopping me launching the game. You've sold us the game, give us months of trouble and now you want to dictate how we launch the ruddy thing! Like, just stop it and focus on making the GAME everyone is here for instead of tweaking daisies and deciding to wholly rework how you present planets a few weeks after launch. I will commit to ending the negative vibe if you just commit to focussing on the game dev. -
No, it was a multi-billion dollar corporation... Funnily enough, like in most other aspects of life.
-
It's a QA issue because of the easy to find bugs that came with the latest patch... Most people experienced them all within 10 mins of gameplay and it kind of shows that the QA team just aren't testing the basics of the game. I worked in QA Compatibility for one of the big console names in another life, so it's an area I'm actually familiar with... Now, whether QA noticed these issues, reported them, and they went unactioned is also a possibility though neither is a great option as it just shows a lack of care at IG imo.

Two more instances of this bug... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FQHApzr-Jo and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPJmWOPKMmw One with a super steep angle and the other with a normal entry... Both get next to no drag and end up getting hoofed back up to the stars. Crazy bug to not have found/tested before release.
-
Yeah... It is quite the terrifying update to say the least, very apt name choice.
-
I quit with the game for the foreseeable future, I actually held out hope for this patch and you fumbled it again... As shocking as this may be... I agree with you! The easy bug spots that have been missed are infuriating to say the least.

Release KSP2 Release Notes - Update v0.1.3.0

I mean... Why would lie? Also, did you really upload a video to try and prove somebody wrong about a bug they say they're experiencing? That's some 'dedication'. Here's my proof of it...
