These are things I made to test the new aircraft parts and stuff. I am not the best plane-maker in KSP, but I had fun with them, and maybe some of you will, too. First, there's the T-9 Lesson trainer. It's a tiny little jet that handles slowly but smoothly, and is fun to poke around with. This is the T-10 Dust Devil. It's even slower, but even more nimble than the T-9. Rolls kinda sluggishly, though. I don't understand why. But still fun to play with. Craft: http://www./download/o6g4tbc58gt87m4/T-10b_Dust_Devil.craft I made the I-2 Swift to be a quick-climbing interceptor, but it turned out to be pretty maneuverable as well. Goes from parked to airborne in 3 seconds, does 800m/s at wavetop altitude, reaches 20,000m in about 1:20. To try out the other new engine, I made a low-altitude, high-manueverability fighter in the F-17 Kestrel. It looks kinda funny, but is fun to hug the curves of the mountains west of KSC at high speed. Also, it can hover and even back-up slightly while the thrust reversers are engaged. In this pic, it is actually climbing. To look at the new engine animations, I made a plane inspired by the SR-71, though not an attempt at a replica. The SR-8 Shooting Star mostly just looks pretty and goes fast. Cruises at about 1300m/s at 20,000m. On the subject of going fast and looking pretty, this is also a non-replica imitator of the B-58: the B-5 Trespasser. It's made to go fast at low altitude, but is pretty fast higher up as well. It carries a couple of pretend-bombs, but to be honest, they don't work very well and tend to hit the bomb bay on their way out. Still, I like the way the plane looks. I hope somebody enjoys them.

Yeah, that's about all there is to it. But you may have noticed that we've had other stuff to deal with as well. Update: I think I got all the old ones taken down, anyway. -
We made it as ready as we could, but upon full implementation, some additional problems were discovered. This is going to be the case with just about any non-trivial bit of software, but if you can come up with a way for us to warn people of such issues before they have arisen, please share it with the group. Meanwhile, I would ask folks to remember that Squad is still a very small company, and the forum transition is something KasperVld has been doing almost single-handedly. A lot of work has been done, a lot more needs to be done, and he is getting to it as quickly as he can.

I must point out that this thread is getting off-topic, which is a little embarrassing in retrospect, since I'm the one who off-topicked it. While I scold myself, please get back to discussing Childhood's End.

Stronger hint: Pluto is not the subject of this thread, guys. -

Not in this thread, it doesn't. Hint, hint. -
Some threads derail. Others are full-on trainwrecks. Time to move on.

I mean, these twits in the floppy chef hats are what SyFy did to the sardaukar. Embarrasing.

We're aware, but there are several steps involved in fixing it, and we haven't gotten to it yet. But thanks for pointing it out. -
SyFy Channel productions of actual science fiction have tended to be pretty lousy. I will feel compelled to watch this because I love the book, but I expect to be disappointed.

Need your own thread moved or locked? Post here.

How-to question moved to the how-to subforum. -
Oopsie. This thread is 2 years old, and the info in it is no longer current. The thread will be closed now to avoid confusion.
-
Ladies and gentleman, it would really help keep the forum tidy and discussions flowing if each person could limit him/herself to one thread expressing an opinion about the forum change. If you've made your feelings plain in one, please do not just keep starting more. Merged.

There are a number of new threads about the software change, and this one's pretty old. Let's let it rest in peace, shall we?
-
Old software no longer being supported and had security issues.
-
Kiwi1960, please do not start a new thread for each of your comments on the new forum software. Merged.
-
Please don't get nasty with each other over a difference of opinion. People are welcome to dislike the new forum, if that is their feeling on the subject. That being said, there is no chance of the forum going back. Support for the old software was about to end, and it suffered from security vulnerabilities. Sorry, guys, but it's just not going to happen.

Overlapping threads merged.

Please take discussion of the forum to Kerbal Network.

And... it's gone.

Forum is up, but still having some teething problems. Answer hazy. Try again soon.

Since it was the forum rather than the game which was on hiatus, thread moved to Kerbal Network.
