the recent dev release seems to have completely destroyed the functionality of universe replacer for me. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, seeing as how I didn't initially realize how much framerate I was losing WITH it.
that's because the real thing didn't have gimblaling, it relied on a computer to change the thrust coming out of the engines on one side for the whole thing to steer
tons of mods of the top of my head: mechjeb, Ioncross life support, Kosmos, Soviet Pack, AIES, Space Factory(N1 launcher, Block G booster, antennas), hullcams, BOSS, B9 Aerospace, KAS recently used KAS to attack another docking port so my carrier vehicle could join high resolution:
so here I am, my Mun-VA up in orbit, glad to know it had enough monoprop to get me there. I was hoping for a fast and smooth operation, hence why I didn't bother with solar panels and RTG's pretty well I switched over to the rendezvous craft, simple monoprop powered CM with service module. Unfortunately I horrifically underestimated the power of the engines and collided with the ship me at that very moment: ..nooOOooo let's play spot the differences Mun lander is missing 2 battery cells, a docking port, and it's life support component rendezvous craft is missing entire propulsion block and is out of oxygen I struggled for about half an hour to move the panels to the lander, and then try to dock with the rendezvous craft with scavenged RCS thrusters; then I realized I had no docking ports. who knows, maybe the collision put my perigee at ground level
Sadly, I'm not the type of person that builds all these grand ships with something, like, 6 orange tanks, and with all that tricky asparagus staging, and struts everywhere. No matter what I do, it seems to me like almost all of my lifters end up being some variation of the Titan.
had a bit of a power issue on the lander, was rapidly running out of electricity to power life support. Rodbro had to to install some power cells the base itself as seen from HelmetCam, with new munar buggy. Majestic view from nearby crater. The kerbal died on his way back
I found it has an even better use now, reaction wheels. And I mean the reaction wheels that are for massive ships, the 2 meter variant, they're power hungry.
Rondbro Kerman learns KAS engineering FAIL whoo! made awesome power station, can be assembled on the ground and greatly lightens load of ascent vehicle. looks totally awesome, is totally functional, is totally a breakthrough in lander design. Will be useful for next Duna mission. meanwhile Bill and Bob
oh don't worry, it's very much possible. Thanks to KAS, you can modify cfg. code so that kerbals can pick up anything! solar panels, parachutes, lights, beams, batteries, normal panels! it has become a big part of my space program for example, here's a surface base floodlight I assembled on the pad
