Early rocket launches != Mercury level space capsules. Sadly, yes. But that is just another argument against it.

Bring in a tier 0. Fine. But dump the stupid "craptastic" theme. The game starts off with what is in essence a Mercury or Vostok level spacecraft. It doesn't fit with the barn. It doesn't belong at a space center made of trash, covered in trash, and decorated with more trash. The whole "Kerbals are dumb and build crap and it goes boom!" thing is tired. It should die. And before someone posts the same pictures and "But look at what Goddard started with!" or the "Look at how NASA started with V2s in New Mexico!", take a look at those pictures. Goddard was building his own rockets. They were primitive technology, not orbital spaceships. Yes, the US was launching those V2s out of temporary buildings. Fine. But they were rather well taken care of professionally built buildings. They weren't covered in rust, or falling apart, or have silly cartoon looking patches holding them together. And again, they weren't launching Mercury capsules. And they sure as hell didn't scatter rusted out cars and other junk everywhere they could. Starting the game at an early, make-shift space center is a great idea. It just needs to drop the trashed-out "joke", and it needs to make sense. Launching small suborbital sounding rockets from a barn makes sense. Vostok? No.

It's sooooo cute, standing on it's little stool, pretending to be a grown-up rocket like its big brother!

You're talking about a group of beings that tend to launch themselves into orbit before figuring out what a wheel is. Chances are, they don't even know they have a flag. One of them just happened to get his shirt caught on an antenna tower.

Best: Casablanca Middle: Really? Out of all the movies I've seen, you want me to select one as the most average I've seen? Worst: HA! Any number of movies could go here. Each one is the worst, but for different reasons.

Expanding vs. Quality control

Gosh, you really think so? I never even thought about beginning to consider that. I figured that they would just fix the bugs they have now, and everything would be great. It never occurred to me that "ripping out a large part of the program and replacing it with a completely new version" could possibly have any major effect on the game. -

Are you saying you've met people that take Last Thursdayism seriously? -
Thoughts on stock communication system in ksp 1.1
razark replied to ouion's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's an utterly ridiculous idea. If Squad says "We want to do X", and people think it's a bad idea, they should be free to speak up about it. If they support it, they should also be free to speak up. If people wait to say anything until afterwards, the chance of them having a meaningful voice is much lessened. -

This is a good idea. (Of course, I figured that this was what the pilots would be able to do.) -
It's obviously fake. Look at it. You'll notice that the shadows go in different directions, as highlighted here. I find it hard to believe that you actually photographed a Kerbal on the Mun. This must be a hoax.

Expanding vs. Quality control

Yes! Squad needs to fix all the bugs now! They need to spend all their time just fixing bugs and making every single bit of the program work correctly. After they finish that, they can move on to ripping out a large part of the program and replacing it with a completely new version. Then everything will work perfectly, and no one will ever complain again because everything will be all happy shiny rainbows of exquisite excellence. -
What Are Things You've Heard That Made You Facepalm?

You really expect people to get an inside joke based off of a small corner of the internet? Granted, in a discussion about SpaceX, I'd expect a slightly higher percentage than usual, but still... -
And some day, someone will run into the same problem. That person will search the web. He'll find this thread, describing the exact same problem he is having. He'll click on it. He'll read through the thread, eagerly seeking a solution. And then he'll find the standard "It's fixed. Nevermind." response. And his soul will cry out in anguish, as another possible source of a solution evaporates. Or, you could post the answer and help people.

Thoughts on stock communication system in ksp 1.1

You started the thread. Why don't you share yours? My thoughts: I'm not sure about it. I liked RemoteTech when I tried it, but I didn't use it for long. It seemed to be doing a lot of processing in the background, so it bogged my computer down. The lack of some way to handle maneuvers during LOS detracts from it. I'd like to see the ability to have probes execute maneuver nodes. (Of course, pilots should also be able to execute nodes.) -
It's spelled "Jool", but it's pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove".

What is the absolutely first game you remember playing?

I've had fun going back to some of the old Infocom text adventures. And I also pull up Tetris on the NES emulator from time to time. -
