  1. As an interesting side note, did you know that NASA security forces can be heavily armed, and have federal arrest powers?
  2. Very true. Both KSCs have runways. From the ground, too. Parts of it, anyway. Large portions of JSC are office buildings, but the industrial areas and specialized labs fit. The wind tunnel was from somewhere else, though. (And who but Kerbals and NASA would put the daycare center across the street from the pyrotechnics test area?!?)
  3. In Texas, neither party needs to actually be present. As long as there is a valid license, either or both parties can be represented by proxy. There was, in fact, a marriage performed between a cosmonaut onboard ISS and his fiance. The marriage was conducted over the radio by an officiant at JSC, with the bride present.Edit: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/3077947/ns/technology_and_science-space/t/cosmonaut-worlds-first-space-wedding/
  4. I remember manuals for some games that were only half about the game. The other half was a textbook on whatever the game was about.
  5. Alan, Gus, John, Scott, Wally, Gordon, and Deke.
  6. On this computer? 0.90, 1.0, 1.0.2, and 1.0.4 0.90 and 1.0 are in a zipped archive. 1.0.2 and 1.0.4 are in playable form right now. On my other computer, I've got zipped archives back to 0.13.3 and 0.15 onward. Basically, if I've installed it, it's been archived. I think I missed a couple of version over the years. When a new version <x> is released, I install <x>, move <x-2> into the archive and delete the desktop shortcuts, move the <x-1> desktop shortcuts to the side, and create new shortcuts for <x>.
  7. Devs refuse to state what their plan is, so there's no way to figure out what they're thinking for the future. The rationale for this is that if they say "We want to have feature <X> in the game", and later find out they cannot implement it, people will get their panties in such a wad that there will be some sort of massive player rebellion.
  8. Sit there and be glad you're in school with too little to do, and not at work with a boss and customers that all think their stuff is so important that it needs to be done now.
  9. That shouldn't bother anyone around here that much, considering how often people confuse "SSTO" and "spaceplane".
  10. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_bomb A project so amazing, that only the atomic bomb could stop it.
  11. Your list of centers is missing Armstrong.
  12. This one hangs on our wall at work. One of my favorites:
  13. Meh. If you stop treating words as if they have some magic power to cause harm, they become just words.

    Best linux OS?

I've been running Red Hat or CentOS. And whatever it is on the Pi. My old laptop with a dead screen: [razark@fafnir ~]$ uptime 17:53:09 up 618 days, 23:39, 2 users, load average: 0.10, 0.03, 0.00
  15. I appreciate these summaries, but I wish there was a better separation of the useless gameplay stuff from important development information. Maybe we should double your pay? If the answer was "yes, multiple threads per ship", I think they would have been broadcasting that fact. The fact that they have been so quiet and non-committed may be the answer itself.
  16. Broomsticks are approved for rocket plane usage by Yeager Himself.
  17. Oddly, I recently dealt with a scientific/technology paper release that confused some approvers because it was basically a recipe for banana nut bread.
  18. Where's the option for "It's an airliner. What's the big deal?"
  19. I only listen to various renditions of L'Internationale.
  20. I didn't expect to have to tell so many young hooligans to get off my lawn.
