Does anybody else think Jeb and Val should hook up?
razark replied to imkrazy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My copy of The Maltese Falcon has never hooked up with my Indiana Jones box set. -
Goddard wasn't launching crewed vessels. The barn works if we can start out with small sounding rockets like Goddard, but by the time something on the level of Mercury or Vostok is involved, the barn should be long gone.

Possible Solution to the Multiplayer Issue
razark replied to Tex's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hrm. I'd have to say that this is one of the first unique solutions to the question I've seen in a while. And imagine the new challenges, such as docking to a station that doing twice orbital velocity! However, it doesn't address all the problems timewarp is supposed to solve. As @John FX mentions above, if the time isn't actually moving forward faster, this sort of non-timewarp isn't going to be useful for getting to a transfer window any faster. (But then again, would that matter as much if you've broken the thrust/delta-v/velocity balance?) -
There's a difference between two options and two categories of options. Do you understand at least that much? If not, then this whole discussion has been worthless and can end here. However, if you do, I will continue that all the options fall into one of the two categories. Perhaps the problem is that you've been discussing the options, while I have been discussing the categories? I am personally waiting to see what quality the work they release has before I declare the imminent death of the game. Only then will I be able to judge the abilities of the devs currently working for Squad. The fact that they are making a DLC expansion kind of points out that major features are still a possibility.

Just the parts that are completely irrelevant to the point under discussion.

1 and 2 are "wait". 4 is "sync issues". 3? That's just "wait until the admin decides to warp". (Or "wait until someone actually wants to play with this admin".) Still falls under waiting. Yes, because all "modes" fall under some concept. It's a lot easier to talk about the basic concepts than to describe every possible multiplayer timewarp handling system.
-
If all players are timewarping at the same time, is there someone that will have to wait at least part of the time to do what they wish to do? Possibly, but the point is that any of the three (or their multiple sub-types) all require either that someone waits or allows sync issues.

Possible Solution to the Multiplayer Issue
razark replied to Tex's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I've got a ship in orbit. I want to get to the other side of my orbit to make a Trans-Munar Injection, but I don't want to wait a long time, so I warp. What happens to my orbit? -
That falls under the "wait" category. Someone will have to wait until everyone else is ready to timewarp.

Why? -
And here I was under the mistaken impression that the A-10 shot at tanks. Apparently, it just rolls right over them...

No, The Who did "My Generation".

Interesting... But this does nothing to explain the Eggmen.

I personally am very disappointed in the DLC. Not only have I had problems getting it downloaded and installed, but I've also found it very hard to play. Further, none of the new features show up. I'm not able to locate the Mission Builder, no new parts are showing; very disappointing. It's almost as though it wasn't even there! And don't get me started on the price they're asking for it! It's ludicrous! I have no idea what they were thinking with this. The only thing I can say is that None of this makes any sense right now. Edit: This was in response to this ex-OP. (Merging's too good for it. That thread was born to hang.)

What are the longest/hardest space words you can think of?
razark replied to Clockwork13's topic in Science & Spaceflight
"Bureaucracy". Edit: "Going anywhere". (Well, you said you wanted hard ones, and that seems pretty hard for the agency...)- 70 replies

Should KSP have a Delta-V readout?
razark replied to bsalis's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
If you've never seen the source code to a program, saying "adding <feature> should be easy" is something you should not say. -
Can we terraform Mars? Yes. We can also strip mine the entire Earth and use it to construct generational ships to travel to TRAPPIST-1 to colonize it. As long as it's physically possible, we can do it. It's merely a question of funding, time, and getting enough people interested in it. (And keeping them interested over the thousands of years involved.)

NASA to make announcement regarding extraterrestrial oceans
razark replied to insert_name's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Every announcement of a NASA press conference really needs to start off with "No, it's not aliens! We'll be talking about...". Anyway, prep the media speculation.- 24 replies

Ability to type inside limiters
razark replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Did you read the post I was discussing? User suggests adjusting all sliders in the same action group as the selected part. I pointed out that the part could be in multiple action groups, and that could cause problems with adjusting the sliders on unintended parts. Therefore the need to specify whether you are adjusting the sliders of all parts in action group one, or all parts in action group 3, or all parts in any action group the selected part may be in. For example, as part of my "Abort" action group, I have selected "Shutdown" on all engines. I also have AG4 set to toggle my Orbital Maneuvering Engines (imagine there are three of them). If I edit the slider on OME 1, and select the suggested "All Action Group" to also adjust OMEs 2 and 3, we run into a problem, because all engines are in the same action group, namely "Abort". Instead of adjusting my OMEs only, I've just modified every LFO engine on the ship. -
Ability to type inside limiters
razark replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
No. I meant multiple action groups per part. Imagine you have a part, A in action group 1, along with parts B and C. You also have part A in action group 3, along with D and E. So, when you trigger "All action group", are you selecting A, B, and C? Or A, D, and E? Or A, B, C, D, and E? See the issue now? -
Ability to type inside limiters
razark replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Any slider should have a numerical entry field. The problem I see with this is that parts can be on more than one action group, so you would need to specify which one you intend. Other than that, the ability to specify a single item out of symmetrically placed items would be very nice. (Also, this would be nice for action groups.) -

If you could meet any five people, who would you meet?

Right now: 1. Whoever wrote the Paperwork Reduction Act. 2. Whatever lawyer wrote the current Agency interpretation of the damn thing. 3. A dark alleyway. ... That's all I can think of right now.
