Because who wouldn't want to have a proper, fiery viking funeral? AFAIK the probe has a "life time". If it stays in the high radiation environment for too long it might lose the ability to communicate. When that happens the ground crew won't be able to control it and there's a chance it might encounter one of the moons eventually. Since there's a chance it's not 100% sterile, it may crash on one of them and contribute to a thing called panspermia.

Makes me wish you were back in the dev team again.

What new parts should they add?
Wjolcz replied to Jeb-head-mug kerman's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Cameras and telescopes and the ability to take actual scientific pictures of the universe right along with data of the objectes photographed. -
I think I also remember cruise control being a thing when the update with wheels came out, but I either don't know how to activate it or it doesn't exist anmore

Roll Pivot on Docking Ports

Can't we get KAS stockified instead? -
It was the original idea, but NovaSilisko had some issues with lava IIRC. IMO Laythe should stay. Maybe not very realistic but one of my favourite moons. It's also fun to fly jets there.
-
Nope. They are way better than they used to be. Just need some tweaking.

The fact that KSP let's me enjoy simple things is one of the main reasons why I enjoy this game so much. Here's something I built a few minutes ago just for fun: CubeSat I is a very simple rocket+satellite combo meant to be fairly cheap (though I built it in sanbox where it doesn't matter). With ~5000 m/s of dV it can go pretty much anywhere. Show off your simple things you've built and you are proud of!

Yours and @Rune's look as if there were two space-racing countries and each of them had a very similar, yet different design for a chemical SSTO. I like them both!

Is there like a site with a poll where people can vote on what should they take pictures of? I think I saw something like that somewhere on NASA's official facebook page once.

we NEED level design
Wjolcz replied to galactictaco's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Everything is terrible! Start over! Seriously though, the career mode needs to be redone IMO. It wasn't any good from the beginning and it isn't now. The devs didn't think it through. After a proper career overhaul I will gladly see more things being added/changed. The core idea needs to be sane and stable first to make any changes to it. I'm not against your ideas, but I think adding them right now would make the career/science modes even messier than they are now. It simply would be a shame to have resources and time wasted, because of how bad the main system is. -
When you forgot to install KER.

The editing gizmos don't show up in KSP 1.1.3. Apart from that it seems to work fine. Why isn't this mod more popular? It's such a great tool to create challenges and I don't see anyone creating them!

[1.6.1] Reentry Particle Effect 1.4 (2019-02-12)
Wjolcz replied to pizzaoverhead's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Whaaaaaaa? Is it really? I though you can click on things to relocate the camera only? Is there something else? Back on topic: how FPS intensive is this mod? Seems like a lot of particles and my laptop is not that good. -
Same.

we NEED level design

I actually really like this idea. If LS ever becomes a thing this should totally be a part of it. Kerbals could, for example, use a certain amount of electricity when on-board of a vessel, but each 5-star crew member would use a fraction of EC a newbie astronaut would need to stay alive, or something like that. I'm just brainstorming this, but I would really like it to become a thing some day. Crew stats could become a great thing if we ever get stock LS. Well, yeah. The problem is that collecting rocks and scribbling down the results of a temperature is not that fun. I really don't see a way to make fireworks out of scientific instruments (I actually do, but that involves exploding them; not the point though). I feel like this should be left for a career mechanics refinement. A proper overhaul of basic systems needs to be done first. Playing golf on the Mun, though... I'm still waiting for @nightingale to implement that into Kerbal Sports. Scoring birdies on another planetary body is totally what astronauts and scientists do, right? -
[1.2.x] Aviator Arsenal - World War 2 aircraft weaponry (v1.3)
Wjolcz replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I don't have any sounds of weapons when firing. Could it be because I deleted all the BDA parts? Do the Aviator Arsenal guns had their own sounds or are they dependent on the BD parts somehow? -
I built a carrier-worthy airplane. It managed to stop on its own after touching down in the middle of the helipad on the left. Didn't bounce even once.

we NEED level design
Wjolcz replied to galactictaco's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I don't think simply giving kerbals mustaches would make me care more about them. Maybe their Stupidity/Courage stats could change based on how many flights/Gs they pulled in vessels built by us, or sth like that. Anyway, I think their stats should actually be meaningful. I agree. The reputation could be a great thing to base the whole career on. Couple that with the freedom of objective selection and the career would get so much better. Making grind more fun won't affect the fact that it's still grind, except it being more fun the first time you perform it. Then, it becomes a grind again. That's not going to fix the problem. What could fix this is a system based on programs where you decide what to do next and focus on it. That would give a sense of progression while keeping the sandboxy feel of the game. You would do what you do in sandbox, but would be rewarded and progress by doing so. -
we NEED level design

I've got to say you're pretty brave then. I've never gone beyond the 550 Sci points nodes. I think the tree is the main reason I don't want to go back to the career mode. I could deal with the contracts. I would probably find some patience to decline through the ridiculous ones, but the tree is unbareable. -
Running List: Simple Suggestions
Wjolcz replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
About the 2.5m fuel tank: I think it would be better to have a fuel switch instead of more LF parts. -
This has been discussed many, many times before. I think if we're ever going to get procedural parts we should also have something similar to Kerbal Krash Systems, where parts don't go *poof* and vanish, but instead have higher impact tolerance and deform, or simply vent fuel/get scratches and dirt marks/become unusable, or randomly fail after being reactivated.

Better Tech Tree editing
Wjolcz replied to Aknar's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I agree. What I always wanted was a tech tree where there are many themed trees (engines with engines, wings with wings, power with power, etc) that can be researched independently.
