Make it look like this and give us actual freedom of what we want to research next. And before I get bombarded by "But this is KSP it's not historical!". No, it's not historical and I'm not saying it should be, but that doesn't change the fact that "the tree" is bad and the parts contained in nodes and their progression is ridiculous.

That's the real tragedy of career/science mode. People think it ends when the tree is unlocked, simply because the way it's designed. And in my opinion it's poorly designed. It should like this. -

This is how the stock tree should have looked like from the day it was introduced. Thanks for creating this. Too bad it has mods dependencies, but will try it anyway. -

Yeah, maybe. But the career would still be rubbish, because that's appearantly what a "feature completed" game means. We would get a crappy career mode and a (probably crappy) multiplayer. Anyway, my point is devs should focus on making the game enjoyable first. Career overhaul first, a proper multiplayer mode later (preferably in a sequel/prequel that focuses on airplanes).- 367 replies

I agree. There's no need to change them and come up with new terms. It's enough that we have Kolniya orbits in the game already. -

Doubt it. I'm no coder, but I'm pretty sure it's easier to create a game based on multiplayer and then add singleplayer mode, than the other way around. If it was that easy, DMP wouldn't be as buggy as it is and we would have MP long time ago. Yup, I totally agree. That's why I think it should be left for another game (a one that doesn't focus on space exploration and aircraft flying and building instead). I'm totally cool with KSP being singleplayer. Maybe I phrased it poorly and it wasn't clear enough. I'm not a native english speaker.- 367 replies

I say drop the idea of MP for KSP and leave it for a sequel (or rather prequel) with airplanes only. Seriously. MP is not worth it if it's going to be in the KSP we have now. It's more fun to race, fight and fly with others than warping and syncing all the time.- 367 replies

How about drop a bomb in the most creative way? Tossed it and ran 21km away before it hit the water near the air base. Not much of an explosion, but since the biggest one you can get is the nuke from BD, there's no challenge to it really.

Half the Juno thrust is a bit too much IMO. Me thinks it should be 5kN at best. It would still be comparable to the first jet engine to fly, but it's KSP. It doesn't have to be that accurate. -

Electric props are pretty cool, but ducted fans look even better. I totally agree it should be a stock thing, though it should have really poor thrust and eat EC like crazy. -
YES! That's exactly how it should work. War Thunder research tree is a great example of that. Although it doesn't work well, mainly due to the game being multiplayer and the tiering system being "meh", but that's the way it should be in KSP. Each part could have its own node and it wouldn't hurt the game as much as the current tree.

I did that once. The old save got corrupted, or sth so I just started a new one, gave myself some science, unlocked the tree to the more or less the same level I had in the previous save and never touched it again because I realized career is not fun at all.

Why is everyone trying to come up with an idea for a new game based on "KSP + some other game + multuplayer sequel"? Wouldn't it be cool to have something that would be more of a prequel to the current game? I would love to play a game where you build aircraft, test them and it tells the story of how the Kerbal Space Program emerged from something like Kerbal Aircraft Program? I think that would be way more interesting than having the same game, except with more space stuff. You can do that with mods and/or by simply buying some other game that already has the features (Elite, EVE Online and other space games like that). I haven't seen a game with a whole planet to explore and an advanced editor to create your own flying contraptions. Would totally buy that thing in an instant. OK, I guess what I want is "KSP + IL-2 + DCS + multiplayer sequel". But I haven't seen a game that would incorporate all of these features yet. -

It probably is, but I wouldn't recommend using the stock vessels with FAR. They aren't built for more realistic aerodynamics the mod offers. It's better to build a new one from scratch. -
I like that. Just like the Mars Pathfinder landing site was renamed to "Carl Sagan Memorial Station".

I agree. The points of interests should generate around the area of a lander/base, or simply around the landing site designated by the contract (though I would really prefer if they were called missions). I wish that programs/filters (much like in Strategia mod) were a thing. There would be for example a program asking you to land in a certain crater (Northern Crater Exploration Program) and once that's done more objectives pop up asking to drive around said crater/point of interest and perform experiments. It would actually give meaning and purpose to building bases. IMO it should get a complete overhaul. Science points are the real drama of the career mode right now. They don't serve much purpose apart from restraining the player's choice of parts and making the whole career paradigm work completely backwards (i.e. go places and get science first, unlock parts later) It would make much more sense if they were completely gone. (the most important things in that thread are the way the reputaton works, programs and the loop).
